I have been into the Derby Street Mini Luxe location on several occasions and never once have I left dissatisfied. This is a team of friendly, personable, professional, and detail oriented women. From the receptionists to the technicians Mini Luxe is on point. I see Vicky once every two weeks for a shellac manicure and she is a perfectionist. My polish always looks smooth and even, lasting the full two weeks beautifully. Victoria also does an excellent wax- head to toe, incomparable to any others I have been to. This was my first visit to this salon for a walk in eyebrow wax. To my surprise they took me in immediately. The table was comfortable and the salon clean. My stylist worked quickly and did a great job. I was very satisfied with the results. If that was it I would have given the place 4 stars. However a few hours later I received a phone call from the salon accusing me of not paying my bill?!!? First of all I paid $20 for a simple wax that at my regular salon costs $15, no big deal. I also gave a $5 tip as well. As I paid in cash, I wondered if this was the reason. Anyway, very poor customer service. I will never use them again. After stating to this woman I did indeed pay in cash , she questioned me again and said Ok, sorry. What a crappy way to run a business. Shame on them. read more

For the money I paid for a pedicure, I expected it to be the best one of my life, and it just wasn't. I did really like my nail technician, Michelle. She gave a good leg massage and was very sweet. I do not think, however that the quality of the polish or the actually paint job was so good. One of the girls I was with had her pedicure chip just hours after leaving the salon. Another girl's manicure needed another coat, maybe two, and looked streaky. (They had different nail techs). When I looked more closely at my own pedicure, I noticed spots that were left unpainted or nail polish left on my toe. I will say miniluxe was probably the cleanest place I've ever had a pedicure, so that was a plus. They have a veey good selection of colors. But i think I'll stick to my local $25 pedicure joint from now on. read more

I have started coming here two months ago for a full Brazilian wax. I have SUPER sensitive skin, and I have not had a bad reaction to their heat/wax. Jessica is great and quick! However my experience today was sooo incredibly i felt i had to mention it online. I like minilux because they are super clean . I got a full Brazilian wax with Jessica, usually I flinch and am super red after so I dont like to do this service often. Not only was my experience quick and painless, but Jessica was incredibly sweet and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed! It was by far the best wax I've ever gotten, I'm truly amazed at how great I feel and have no pain or redness. Not only because she's my friend, but because she takes care of her clients and really gets to know them. I went to Mini Luxe today for the first time and had a wonderful experience. I was able to make my appointment only 20 minutes before and they were more than happy to take me. The actual setting of Mini Luxe is very clean and welcoming. All utensils very sterile. I saw Victoria for an eyebrow waxing. She made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. She took time waxing, tweezing, and trimming my eyebrows, and made alterations that I asked for after showing them to me. Price for eyebrows is $20. Would definitely go back! read more

I went for a pedicure for the first time since covid..They are expensive and asked so many questions while booking the appointment (online) I felt safe (ish)..There were 3 customers in my section.. First time EVER my pedicure spa had No jets..my feet just sat in a tub of water ..the lady sitting across from me brought in a can of soda..(there should be NO drinks allowed during covid)..this I know ..She then would take her mask off for a sip..I was appalled. I paid $47 for a gel manicure and my friend did too. Both of us have chipping/peeling polish less than 48 hours after service. We alternate between Hingham and another salon that we love since I live on the North Shore and she lives on the South Shore but this is the second poor experience in this location and one of multiple poor experiences with this brand, so I don't think this will work out for us. I was in on 01/08 for a gel manicure. I chose my go to color, mod about you by OPI. The salon is very beautiful and clean. The girls who work at the salon were friendly. Within 3 days 2 of nails chipped, however the salon has a guarantee. I went back to the salon on Friday, to get my nails fixed which they did graciously. On Sunday, I look down at my nails and two more nails are chipped. While I understand I was still within that week where the salon will honor the correction. However, I did not have the time to have it fixed. It's just disheartening that a gel manicure did not even last a week. While I can appreciate the customer service, the quality just wasn't there. I came here with a gift card, and could not justify paying the hefty price tag for a gel manicure that lasted less than a week. read more

I'm so torn about MiniLuxe! The facility is sparkling clean and the technicians whip out freshly packaged tools each time. Love that! The girls at the desk were incredibly sweet and helpful. My shellac mani was going great until we got to the nail art. I just wanted some sparkly swirls on my ring finger nails. My technician did not even attempt and a 2nd technician came over to try. It did not come out very well and I ended up having them remove it. Disappointed I couldn't get a little something extra special for my Thanksgiving mani, but the girls at the desk were super apologetic and of course didn't charge for the nail art. I would definitely consider going back for a basic or plain shellac mani because the place and staff are SOOO nice, but I was very bummed the technicians that worked with me weren't a bit more skilled (especially if nail art is a service offered and booked in advance). read more

I get a pedicure religiously every 2 weeks during the summer and a manicure about once a month. I have a few places I alternate between, but came here for a bachelorette party. When I looked at the price list I laughed- $60 for a regular mani/pedi?! I imagined it was going to be the best mani/pedi of my life for that much. I was incorrect. I usually bring my own color with me so that in the event it chips, I can fix it myself, but I wanted plain white so I figured they would have it there. I chose a white bottle of OPI polish and sat down to have a pedicure. I found it odd that there weren't any massage chairs for a pedicure, but rather a bench style seat with two basins in front of it. After a rather underwhelming pedicure, it came time to paint my toes. The technician tried the OPI polish I had chosen, but said it was too light and asked if she could grab a different one- no problem. She brought back one of their Miniluxe brand polishes in white and used that instead. Then I had a rather basic manicure using the same polish, paid my $60, plus tip, then left. We all went and grabbed lunch at Burton's and then hopped in cars to head to Portland to continue the celebration. When we were driving, I looked down and my toe polish looked awful! Dirt had gathered at the point where the clear top coat stopped covering the white polish underneath- it didn't cover the whole toe. Then I felt my feet and they were rough and dry. If that wasn't enough, after we got to the hotel in Portland, I went to go change out of flip flops and saw that two of my toes at chipped! And, of course, I didn't have the polish with me to fix it. "The technician was very nice" and "the place is very clean" are the only positive comments I can make about my experience with Miniluxe. But there are numerous places in the area I can say the same thing about without having to pay $60 and without having polish chip same day. Certainly won't be coming back here ever nor will I recommend it to anyone I know. read more

Sadly after my first visit my French mani chipped and cracked within 3 days. MiniLuxe will repair within a week so I took advantage of that and they fit me right in to have it fixed. They said it may have been an old bottle. I had about 6 nails fixed. Unfortunately after another 3 days of having it fixed, it did the same thing, and so I went back again. They fixed it a second time. (My 3rd visit in two weeks). This time they told me it may have been the Shellac, that like hair, some products hold better on certain people. Because of my issues with the French I requested they remove all my Shellac and just do a color. They were super accommodating and fulfilled my request. Unfortunately the color lasted 4 days before chipping and cracking. Considering they fixed my nails for free, twice, I have to commend them on great customer service. Unfortunately you are also paying big bucks and it was inconvenient that I had to return twice to have it fixed. I know that this sometimes happens, but I literally went here 3 times and it never lasted more than a week. I wish I could like it more, but I definitely expected more for my money. As much as I liked and was excited about certain aspects of this business (see prev review) I can't honestly say that I plan on returning anymore. read more

I had the deluxe pedicure with Glenn tonight. I will caveat this by saying it was my first time here, but my expectations were pretty high given the high price (which I was aware of when I booked it). The check in/out staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was the cleanest and most spacious nail salon I've ever been to. Also love the online booking system. However, the pedicure itself was super disappointing. This is only my 2nd pedicure in a year and a half, due to the pandemic, so my feet aren't in the greatest shape, but Glenn barely touched the cuticles and barely scrubbed the calluses. I learned after that the foot massage is only 1-2 minute per foot, unless you pay extra. There was no calf or leg massage included. To make matters worse, two toes have already chipped, just a few hours later. I would have been better off saving the $62 (plus tip) and doing them myself, or you know, just paying the standard $30-$40 at a regular salon for a much better experience. read more

My experience with this business started off strong. It's a beautiful, clean, peaceful salon. However, today was horrible. Central booking booked me for tomorrow instead of today, all the while asking if I could make it from my current location to Hingham for a 4:30 appt. Once I got there the manager realize the miscommunication. She was great. Work to fit me in. However, the two nail technicians were not great. The one who did my manicure was 15 mins late and then chastised me for my short nails and did a fair job with the manicure. Polish pooling at the cuticles, etc. areas of the polish lighter than others. She was put out when I asked to fix things. Definitely not worth the premium $$. She spent additional time trying to fix the problems and her next appointment walked out because she's waited a half hour. She was mad and left me sitting at her station and walked away. I wasn't sitting at a drying station and no indication of what was next. Her friend then came over to do my pedicure and was not very friendly. I am so disappointed. I had high hopes for this salon and was willing to pay the extra $$. Now I'm not so sure. read more

I went here with a gift card for a signature mani and pedi last Sunday. The service was awesome- the girls at the front desk really were so nice. My technician was running probably 5 minutes late so they added a complimentary add-on service of my choice (out of a few options), I chose the mani nail polish that is supposed to last as long as gel but come off like nail polish. My technician was nice as well and my pedicure was great... but what earned two stars is the quality of the manicure. It was off by the next day, and that day it was all over my cuticles and skin surrounding my nails. The color was uneven (I got a light pink/white so sometimes this happens) but even my nails were shaped unevenly. I was so disappointed :( but didn't say anything because I essentially got a free mani pedi anyway with the gift card so I'll just get my nails redone before this weekend (and two weddings) somewhere else. My girlfriend and I went here on a day date! We made a reservation and they were ready for us when we walked in with seats right next to each other. We had Nikki and Audrey! Both were wonderful, friendly and thorough. We got to talking with them both and they have been friends since they were kids in Thailand!!! I was amazed by their story and they had a great dynamic together. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the benches where you sit could be a little more comfortable. The bench style isn't conducive for the ultimate relaxation. The ambiance - top notch; service - top notch. Overall though a wonderful experience and we are both very happy :) read more

Love the cleanliness - there is absolutely nothing you can take away from them on that. As for the rest of the experience.... really so-so and somewhat below average. Manicure so basic even though I paid 45.00 for paraffin manicure. hand massage awful. Pedicure...marginal at best. Paid 58.00 for foot facial - mask was great but again massage was weak. Just nothing special about it. I'd pay a fair amount for special - I don't mind spending money. In this case, for the treatments received, I feel like I absolutely overpaid. Perhaps my view is colored by the hot paraffin wax they spilled all over my brand new lulu lemon pants..... half the appointment was spent rubbing my leg down with rubbing alcohol to try to get that off so perhaps that took away from the relaxation a bit.... but even having said that ....still felt services were very basic or below basic. Also - the manager said if my pants were permanently ruined, she'd replace them - which was nice.... I think since I had told them I had just moved to a new house, was exhausted and needed to relax, it might have been nice to comp my manicure or something - or give me a gift certificate to return. I won't go back here and am kind of kicking myself for not going to a full service spa in the first place. I accept total responsibility for that. They charge spa prices so I thought it must be nice..... but it is most certainly not spa services. Kind of like those massage envy places...yes, you'll get the service but just make sure your clear that it doesn't come with any bells and whistles. read more

I will never come here again. I came here to get my nails done for my wedding and I realized during the pedicure that the color was not coming out a nude pink but a very bright pink and I vocalized to my manicurist that it was not what I anticipated and that I am getting married in 3 days and the color clashes. She just looked at me and kept going. I told her 3 more times that I really needed a polish change but she still kept going. When she finished and went to start my nails I left. I paid $50 for a pedicure that I have to have redone tomorrow at a different salon. I've called twice and emailed and I cannot get in touch with a manager or even a staff member since they never pick up their phone. Miniluxe is amazing! It is the cleanest nail salon/spa I have ever stepped foot in! They strive to be super hygienic, and they are! Like someone mentioned "Hospital clean" which I feel it is actually cleaner than a hospital. I go for waxing services, the prices are not horrible and probably comparable to other places. The first time I had waxing done (Brazilian) I went to Lam. She was amazing, although the pain was pretty bad, Lam kept me laughing and she kept me distracted the best she could. She was great and she doesn't make you feel awkward or uncomfortable. I have not had my nails done there, although I would love to, but their prices are kind of high here. But I also am not sure what exactly is done with a mani/pedi so I can't say the cost isn't worth it. read more
