Although the idea is great, to have cats & kittens running freely, the process to adopt is terrible. After sitting down and filling out an application (45 min process), you wait to get approved(a few days to 2 weeks) . Then you MAY or MAY NOT get the cat/kitten you had your eye on. Once we got the email saying we were approved, then we made an appointment to hopefully see about bringing the kitten home, so we thought. After driving about 50 minutes to this location and played with the kitten we had our eyes on, they told us we could not take her. Mind you, we've had several cats through the years. We've always given our cats a great life & spoil them rotten. After answering all the questions which felt like a complete background check, drive several miles and almost an hour away...to not be able to take that kitten home was a terrible decision on Mini Cat Town's end. Especially after they tell us, all her siblings were adopted, and she's been there the longest. Well....she could've come home with us to a loving home, but no. This most definitely tainted the whole experience. I get you're trying to weed bad cat parents, but you're going too far with asking for lease info/home ownership information. I have to be honest by saying, I would NOT recommend this place at all. The whole process is a waste of time, especially when you are NOT even guaranteed to get the cat/kitten you initially want. I came in with my LO for a fun surprise. There wasn't a wait to get in. The hours run differently than the mall. We came in soon after they opened. We paid for a half hour of fun with the cats ~ $35 total. Many many many cats to play with. They seem to have a good quality of care here. The staff seem to be doing a good job at up-keeping the area. Cons, patrons aren't always the best at treating the cats with the best care. What do I do with children on a Wednesday??? Why don't they have school?? What do I do to entertain them? I don't want them to be on the screens all day!! So I took them to Mini Cat Town--a place where you can play with adorable kittens and cats for 30 minutes. If you're interested, you could adopt them. It's only $10 for kids and $15 for adults to play with them for half an hour. Before you go in, the person behind the desk gives you a spiel about what to do and what not to do. You also get to wear cute booties to cover your shoes. They will make an announcement if it's time for you to leave. There are cat toys to entice the cute little animals to play with you. Be careful, though. They will bite you if they don't want to be touched. I like how there are different areas where you could go. It didn't feel crowded in one area, and there were many cats to play with. There are workers inside lounging around with the cats watching everyone. The girls enjoyed it very much, and surprisingly, it was relaxing for me. I just wish there was a Mini Dog Town, too. read more

This is a review for the volunteer opportunities at Mini Cat Town. I had been looking for a volunteer opportunity that was close to home and didn't require a lot of commitment. You must volunteer twice a month to stay active. I filled out the application, went to orientation and started my first shift earlier this month. There is a virtual handbook that tells you pretty much all you need to know about volunteering. This is my second time volunteering and I am really enjoying it. I helped organize the medical supplies, clean the litter boxes, handle the kittens, weigh them, supervisor the floor and shadowed the front desk. It is easy to take payments. At first I was a little nervous about it but they show you. You also earn Cat Cash each time you volunteer. You can save up to redeem for Mini Cat Town swag! I am saving up for a t-shirt! I appreciate this non profit organization and feel glad I get to volunteer and help care for the kittens of Mini Cat Town. read more

An absolute gem in the mall. Pro tip: the nice volunteers at the front desk told us the place dies down around 6, or else it could get pretty crowded with many people inside! I went on a Thursday afternoon and there were a few families looking to adopt. I was just there to pet the kittens and I had a fun time just sitting on the floor and watching them play with the toys around the room! Just a side note, please follow the rules! Don't pick up the cats and don't chase them. I saw a kid running around chasing the cats and picking them up. She was probably just excited, but it was a bit upsetting that her parents weren't watching her and telling her not to chase them. Overall I had a great time! My wife and I dropped by Mini Cat Town on a Monday evening around 1:30pm. Once we arrived we signed a waiver. We were given shoe coverings before walking into the area with free roaming kittens. The kittens all have colored collars with their names. Some were asleep and some were running around playing. There were many different areas to play with the kittens. The kittens were all so friendly and playful. I loved every second of it. We both love cars, but I'm allergic to them. So before we came I took allergy medication so I won't break into hives. Since we can't have kittens, this was the closest thing we can get -- by paying to play with them for 30 minutes or so. Great experience, highly recommended. Adults have to pay $15 for 30 minutes. Mini Cat Town is located inside Eastridge Mall nearby JC Penny and it is a therapeutic oasis with kitties! I tried to call in advance to book an appointment but the telephone was not working and there was no online reservation available on the website. So I decided to come by in person and I was fortunate that there was no wait to go in. I paid $15 to go in for 30 minutes, visitors need to wear a lanyard with a badge and disposable booties to go inside. It was very organized, clean and there were so many kitties! I had a nice time playing with them, holding a few and petting them. When leaving I felt my mood and energy improve. What I like the most is that you can play with them and if you truly want to give a forever home to one you can! When I came in there was a couple inquiring on adopting one and when I was leaving there was a couple entering with a little cat carrier to adopt their kitty! The staff is super friendly, the place is clean and free of any odor and staff are constantly cleaning and tidying. Mini Cat Town is located in Eastridge mall (one of the several branches) which offers plenty of parking spots, it's on the first floor and easy to spot. Let it be known, I am not a cat fan at all... but I really enjoyed my time here. I would rate it 4.5 stars overall since $15 per 30 minutes is quite pricey. The front desk assigns you a section within the play area. My friends and I got section 4, which is right at the center of the room. It has a couple benches, a couch, 4 kitty beds, and a cat tower too. If you have specific cats you want to play with, the volunteers are really helpful in bringing them to your section. Each cat has a paper name tag with their name and age on it. Every kitten that I interacted with was less than a year old! Some were even as young as 4 months. My husband and I visited Cat Town in hopes of finding a cat to adopt. We made an appointment and dropped in where we paid the $15 per person fee to look at all the kitties. All the cats were soooo adorable and the staff was extremely friendly. After meeting with a dozen cats, we found one that we really liked and went home to start the adoption process. Our application was approved in a few days, and we moved forward to booking the adoption appointment. On adoption day, we met with Barbara who helped us through the whole process. She was incredibly kind and knowledgeable with all the cats. We are new to cat ownership and she answered every question we had. You can tell that everyone who works/volunteers here loves cats. We ended up adopting a pair of siblings and they are just PRECIOUS. I love them so much. While we were going through the adoption paperwork, a man and his son tried to barge into Cat Town without signing in, putting on foot protection, or sanitizing. Barbara hopped out of the chair immediately and greeted them at the door. I was definitely eavesdropping, but it seems like the dad was trying to drop his son off at Cat Town so he could leave and go shopping. They don't allow children under 12 years old to come in unsupervised and this kid was CLEARLY not 12 years old. The dad kept insisting he was 12 but Barbara was very kind yet firm with their entry denial. Big props to her for having to put up with that kind of nonsense. It must be exhausting. Huge thank you to everyone at Cat Town! We found the sweetest duo. For anyone complaining about the expensive adoption fee - think about it for a second. They're a non-profit, all the money goes back into caring for these cats. The cats are getting socialized and used to human interaction, they're getting their vaccinations and checkups. read more

This is a super cute spot located in the Great Mall! I was so surprised by how many cats there were and the more I looked around, the more cats I found hidden in the small baskets and crates! The cats were very comfortable around visitors and were just chilling on the couches or asleep when my friends and I dropped by. My daughter had been here before. And the day after we had to help our last cat over the rainbow bridge, she brought me here. It was Friday the 13th. The place is clean and well organized. There were lots of kitties to help me feel better about things. And then, a kitten chose me. I couldn't get him out of my mind, so after a month, we were able to adopt three cats from Mini Cat Town. I got the kitten and his bonded brother (who turned into a major love bug once he started feeling comfortable in our home). And my daughter fell in love with a 15 month old snowshoe who was also pretty shy. He too has bloomed in our home and turned into a major cuddler. So I was fortunate to meet the cats before I adopted them during the shutdown. Every cat I met when I was able to visit was warm and friendly. Some where more playful than others. And the cats were all healthy and happy. I'd recommend popping by (once they're allowed to open) if you want to get some cat time in. And if you adopt, you won't be sorry. read more

It's a nice place to visit to play with kittens and adopt, IF you're a small household. Came here looking to adopt and filled out the application, info's all in, whatever, it's all good right? You CANNOT adopt unless you bring the entire household. Everyone. This isn't as big of a problem if you're a smaller family, but if you're a bigger-than-average household (think 6+), you're kinda out of luck. Don't get me wrong--I get it. You have to vet the potential owners. You have to see who they're living with to know the cat's gonna be in good care. Mini Cat Town has a fairly lengthy vetting process and that's good, mostly. But this just isn't feasible for a household that works all at different times. It feels weird, almost? Like "You have to have more than enough money to be able to drop what you're doing to adopt. Oh you can't? too bad." It kinda leaves a sour taste, if that makes sense. They would NOT budge on me only bringing my immediate family (who would, in theory, be the ones interacting with the cat most outside of me). Otherwise, this place is still pretty chill. $15 (adults) and $10 (kids) is a super fair price for the 30 minute sessions you get. The staff are really friendly and know their stuff, the kittens are cute, and the money goes towards a good cause. It's just the "whole household" policy I have gripes with. read more

I usually love coming to this place to play with the kitties and support the cause. Today I came just to look through the windows as we did not have time to play with the kitties today and saw two teenage girls shoving a calico cat and trying to wake her up. The cat clearly did not want to move but they kept shoving the cat to wake it up very aggressively. We alerted the front counter attendants however it seemed like they did not care. There should be a lot more monitoring to make sure the cats and kittens are safe and not being hurt or bothered by clients. I felt like we should have been taken more seriously as this is out of concern of the cats wellbeing. It was upsetting seeing the poor cat being shoved around with nothing being done about it. A cat lounge with adoptable kittens located on the first floor of the Eastridge Center mall! The interior has a lot of pop with colorful wall paintings and chic furniture. A couple of kittens just want to chill, but there are plenty that are eager for a playmate. The lounge is split into rectangular, numbered blocks which designates the area your party spends the time in. Employees strictly enforce this policy and will politely ask you to return to your assigned area even if there's nobody nearby. Around a five minute buffer is added to the session to compensate for any time of entering and settling in. Once the time is up, an employee will come fetch your party. We got Area 6, a corner by the window, which was great as it was secluded from other customers and filled with decorations plus toys including the exercise wheel. There were moments where we had no cats in our space, but the employees try their best to help bring or lure cats over. It would have been nice to be able to roam the entire lounge instead of only being able to look from afar. Admission is $15 per 30 minutes, which is a bit pricey compared to other places. It also is not a cat café, so there aren't any treats for both "hoomans" and felines. Only a couple of groups were present when we walked in at 4 PM. I adopted one of my kitties from there during the pandemic and the process went very smoothly and went above and beyond to ensure everyone's safety. My sweet girl had special circumstances, having been found with a broken leg (as well as 5 kittens). Mini Cat Town didn't hesitate at all to get her checked out and have her leg repaired. Now, 3 years later she runs around like nothing happened to her leg. Mini Cat Town gave her a chance at life and I'm so thankful they did because I can't imagine life without her. As for the adoption floor, the facility is very clean and well taken care of. The process to get in is smooth and the volunteers ensure everyone's safety (both human and kitty). I stopped by Mini Cat Town during the pandemic and after business restrictions were lifted and truly indeed it was a pleasant time. The environment is very well structured, welcoming and accommodating to the guests and kittens during this pandemic to offer a sense of safety feeling. The kittens are full of joy and very playful. They are not aggressive so I would not worry about bringing small childrens. There are about 20+ kittens roaming the floor and eventually will come to you with a sense of interest. If you are looking to adopt with uncertainty about picking the right one, I would not hesitate to come check out the location.
