The next day we wanted to see 2 kittens but they couldn't locate one of them and they also happened to be part of a bonded pair so we assume maybe they were adopted. We knew we wanted 2, so we asked to see 2 more kittens, and they allegedly gave my partner some attitude but let us see them. We got one free vet visit and went to VCA already, easy and great staff. They were 10 and 13 weeks at adoption, and are quickly growing and such a blessing. No fleas or ticks, both spayed and the older one with rabies shot, both began to do their other vaccine series as well.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with San José Animal Care & Services regarding a…read morenoisy dog complaint. I invested a significant amount of time documenting the issue, maintaining a detailed log, and collecting audio evidence of the excessive barking. Despite making every effort to provide objective documentation, my complaint ultimately went nowhere. I was informed that the department could not open or review the audio files or links I provided. During a phone conversation, I attempted to play the recordings for Supervisor Flores so she could hear the barking firsthand. Instead of evaluating the obvious evidence, she complained about the noise herself and insisted she couldn't hold a conversation with the barking. Experiencing the barking first-hand only led her to give me unprofessional and rude service over the phone rather than admitting the barking established an issue. The requirement for a second petitioner was another major source of frustration. In my view, a complaint supported by detailed documentation and objective evidence should be evaluated on its own merits. Whether another neighbor is willing to sign a petition should not determine whether a documented nuisance receives attention. Their claim is that it eliminates targeting, but it does the opposite, whereas soliciting around my neighborhood would in fact create a great opportunity for targeting me. The system is backwards. Staff can read the rules off a sheet of paper but when asking the why/reasoning behind these requirements they can't elaborate. Throughout the process, I felt that staff were unable or unwilling to provide meaningful assistance or offer reasonable alternatives for submitting evidence. When I initially attempted to escalate the problem I was transferred and did not receive a call back in a timely manner after leaving multiple voicemails. I asked for the supervisors contact information, and was given the incorrect number for the Supervisor. Rather than working toward a resolution, the process felt focused on procedural barriers that prevented the complaint from moving forward. As a resident, I expect a city department tasked with enforcing nuisance animal ordinances to fairly evaluate documented complaints and provide workable methods for submitting evidence. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I am left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and with very little confidence that the current complaint process is designed to address legitimate concerns from residents. I sincerely hope the department reviews its procedures for accepting evidence and reconsiders policies that may discourage residents from reporting ongoing nuisance issues. The current process did not leave me feeling heard, supported, or served.

Jannette answers all your questions and will contact you a lot sooner than other breeders. When you pick up the little bunnies she will give you a lot of hay and pellets. These will last you about a month. My friends are so amazed when they meet the bunnies, when they pick up the rabbits and the bunnies just snuggle. Even after we got our bunnies I was still able to contact them if I had any questions. The bunnies settled in quickly and they are both in perfect health.

It also has detailed information about the business and holland lops in general. I bought my chinchilla lop, Felicity from here and a couple of months later everything is great. She loves our other lop and has an amazing personality; loves to sit on laps, enjoys being pet while resting in her spread out position, no chewing/digging, etc. I couldn't have asked for a better lop! On top of this, the breeder, Jannette, was great; she genuinely cares about all of her rabbits and makes sure that they're bred well. It's really easy to contact her, you can send an email through the website or give her a call/text. She gives all new owners a big bag of hay and a container of pellets to help you get started. As a bonus, all of the rabbits already have cute names so you don't have to spend time thinking about one! I would definitely recommend One Stop Lop to anybody who's looking for a furry friend. To say the least, we love and fully support this organization as it has brought THREE wonderful dogs into our lives. Every person we have talked to at SBPR is friendly, knowledgeable, and has the best interest of the animals at heart. Our first dog was our very first, but we put in the time and research to demonstrate that we were ready for a pet. Though we were newbies and fully disclosed this, SBPR saw that she was a good fit for us as a "first dog," and we have been smitten with her ever since. She is even "bosom buddies" with my mom's dog from SBPR (who is 14 going on 15). With our recent second dog, also from SBPR, we were unsure how our current dog and new dog would get along, both being older and set in their ways. The foster mom allowed us to have a meet-and-greet, and even a trial weekend to see how they would live together. She saw that we were committed to what was best for both dogs, and the potential for a loving home with another SBPR "alum". We are so happy it was a successful transition. These dogs have brought so much love and light into our lives. SBPR cares about dogs and finding loving forever homes, and we are so lucky no-kill orgs like this one exist in our area. We treat our dogs like family, and this organization is to credit for these 3 little beings in our life. Eternally grateful to them for the great work that they do!

Being a San Jose native, all events that I have attended at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds were just ok. I feel like the events that are held here can utilize the space a little better. ADMISSION IS FREE! There are two separate buildings. As I remembered, the one on the left was mainly for dogs and the right was for other pets. However, this year (2016), both buildings seemed to be for dogs. There were probably a couple vendors that were for other pets. This year, the building on the right was for dogs up for adoption. In the center of the right building, there was a little stage set up. The stage gave the dogs up for adoption to show off their cuteness! All dogs were super adorable. Their motto of the day was, "DON'T SHOP, ADOPT!" The building on the left consisted of a lot of vendors for dogs. The vendors range from dog training/vets to dog treats/grooming products. Also, this building sells food - FOR HUMANS! They sell a variety of items, but the ones I can remember are hot dog, nachos, fries, shaved ice, smoothies and lemonade. They had a pretty large menu though. I believe it was cash only? I don't remember. I wished the Bay Area Pet Expo was bigger. The two buildings feel so cramped and I get so afraid to step on somebody's dog. NOTE: MAKE SURE TO HAVE PROOF OF YOUR DOG'S VACCINATIONS (MAINLY JUST RABIES). Proof may be their dog tag that shows the year of when they were vaccinated or paperwork. Before entering the buildings, you have to check-in your pet and the volunteers will give you a wristband per party. I also didn't think I would bump into some very rude people. It's obviously super crowded and this woman rose her voice to my friend saying, "MOVE YOUR DOG!" Please understand that it is crowded and their are tons of dogs everywhere!

Even after two weeks of email correspondence, not only did Kathy refuse to talk to me, but even after I greeted her, she refused to make any eye contact with me (Mind you, we were the only non-white people looking to adopt, so there was definitely a racial undertone.) And that's how it stayed for the ENTIRE HOUR. After driving 300 MILES out to see the puppies, we got very little real contact with any of the senior volunteers up (we had to go up and yank volunteers to ask about adoption details) until the point where we heard "I'm sorry sir, but the puppy you wanted - yeah, he already got picked by someone else." We did not expect much. Hell, we didn't even expect to get a puppy that day. All we expected was the basic human decency that the sole person who was in charge of the WHOLE DAMN PROGRAM have the same courtesy she extended to LITERALLY EVERY OTHER FAMILY. So yah. Racism or assholeness. Now you know what to expect.

I adopted two cats from Town Cats, and both developed significant medical issues shortly after I…read morebrought them home. One ultimately passed away only a month after adoption, and the other continues to require ongoing medical care. After this experience, I feel it is important to share my concerns about the level of medical screening and transparency I experienced. Town Cats has an adoption process and adoption fee that, in my mind, comes with the expectation that there has been a meaningful level of medical evaluation and care. If I wanted to simply take a chance on whether a cat appeared healthy at a glance, I could have gone to a more traditional shelter. I chose Town Cats because I expected more, and unfortunately, my experience has not matched that expectation. I adopted Fern in mid-July after going through an extensive application and interview process. About one month later, I came home from work and found her collapsed and mildly unresponsive. I immediately took her to an emergency hospital, where I spent approximately six hours with her before she was transferred to a specialty clinic the following day. Despite everyone's efforts, Fern did not make it. The testing performed at the emergency and specialty hospitals showed that Fern was severely anemic and had very low red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. The veterinarians believed she likely had a serious bone marrow disease, potentially leukemia, but because of how critical she was, we were never able to obtain a definitive diagnosis. Losing her so suddenly was devastating. After Fern passed, I reached out to Town Cats because I wanted to understand what medical evaluation had been performed before her adoption. I was told that Fern had not received bloodwork, FeLV/FIV testing, or additional diagnostic testing while in their care. I was also told that no bloodwork or additional testing had been performed around the time of her spay because there was no clinical indication to do so at the time. I understand that no shelter can guarantee an animal will never become sick after adoption. I also understand that cats can develop illnesses that are impossible to detect beforehand. What is difficult for me to accept is the idea that because a cat looks healthy and does not display obvious clinical symptoms, additional evaluation isn't necessary. Anyone who has owned a cat knows how exceptionally well they can hide illness, sometimes until they are critically sick. Unfortunately, Fern was not my first experience with this. When I adopted Juju from Town Cats, she was found to have severe stomatitis and gingivitis and needed several teeth removed because she was in significant pain. She has also had other health problems that are ongoing and continue to require care. Having this happen with one adopted cat would have been heartbreaking. Having it happen with both cats I have adopted from the same shelter is incredibly frustrating. I am not saying that Town Cats could have necessarily diagnosed Fern's illness or prevented her death with additional testing. I simply believe that when adopters are paying a premium adoption fee and going through an extensive adoption process, there is a reasonable expectation that the animals have received a thorough medical evaluation and that adopters are being given a clear picture of what has and has not been evaluated. I loved Fern deeply, and losing her so soon after bringing her home was incredibly painful. I hope Town Cats continues to improve its medical screening and transparency, because prospective adopters deserve to know exactly what they are paying for and what has actually been done medically before they bring an animal home.

There are toys for you to engage in playful interaction. You can pick up the cats and cuddle them, if they let you. It's just a good time. I love that all the money goes towards their cause of helping these precious babies find their forever home. They also sell sweatshirts, shirts, tote bags and hats.
