So..... I'm not sure of this review is for ALL of Minh's because the guy (who I think is the owner) seems to know what he is doing, even though his English isn't so great. The lady (his worker or wife) is ok......there may be a lot of miscommunication but if she tells you it looks good..... She's not telling you, she's actually "asking" you. You as a customer have to tell them what is good and what is not. The haole guy, I think he's the sales guy. Well..... I don't know if there was a miscommunication between the Asian guy and him but when we went to pick up our uniforms, about 98% of us had to come back 2-3 sometimes even 4 times just to get the uniform fitting right. The final product is good but I gave them 3 stars for the fact we had to come back 2-3 times for the uniform. Our old contractor, the uniforms were tailored to our bodies...... Now that we are with these guys.... It's "off the rack" and then altered to our body, which causes for a lot of miscommunication, and multiple trips to this place. All in all, I wouldn't totally dis this place for the fact that the Asian guy is good at what he does, if you get him to measure you first. I would give them 4 stars because they are really nice people..... It was just an inconvenience having to constantly come back for my first set of uniforms. read more

My order was a little bit complicated but he took the time to understand and clarify and wrote everything down. He delivered them to me a day early and they were perfect.! Just went today at around 11:00am and had two work pants that needed the crotch to be sewed. I thought I would have to leave it but the guy took both pants and said have a seat... from entry to departure was 5min or less. He stopped what he was doing and fixed the pants right away. I paid $10 to fix both! If you need anything fixed like a ripped seam or clothing altered check them out they're amazing!!! read more

Very rude, poor service. When I took an item there for alteration, the lady at the counter first told me, "it's not worth it!" This without ever telling me how much it would to or why it wasn't worth doing. So I have no idea what she meant by this. Then she said "I can't do it!" Now which one is it? And never giving me the choice of whether or not I was willing to pay whatever it would have cost. If it's worth it to me, isn't that all that matters? Would not listen to me when I asked her if it could be done another way, she insisted once again that she couldn't do it. She never explained any drawbacks to my request or why she couldn't do it. By this time she was yelling at me, cursing me as I walked out the door. Whatever happened to giving the customer what he wants? Don't ever go here! Would give zero stars if possible! read more

I dropped a few things off to get altered (shirts, pants) since i'm a shorter dude and have trouble finding things that fit well off the rack. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with the results from Minh's. The seams and stiches are all very sturdy, and the clothing fits perfectly now. Really, you wouldn't be able to tell the clothing was altered at all. She nailed it. I was a bit apprehensive about getting things altered, as i have had poor results from other alterations shops in the past, but I will definitely be returning in the future for anything that I need altered. read more

Excellent service. I've taken multiple alteration jobs, uniform "fixed" required due to poor work from other locations, dry cleaning, etc. We always receive excellent work in a timely manner. I came in 3.16.18 Friday morning around 10:00am with 3 cargo pants, 2 of which that needed to be sewed on the back belt buckle and 3rd on the crotch area. She said she had no problem with it, also to wash my pants to which I wash it 2 days ago. She didn't like the smell. Minh said it was ( Very easy to fix no problem). 3.17.18 Saturday afternoon at 3:45pm came back and wash my 2 pants last night. I brought it to her, now Minh is saying ( It's very hard to sew) , I told her she can cut the button sleeve to patch it and it was okay, but she didn't accept it. So I left. Very dissatisfied with her attitude and lied but sewing it. Wasted my time coming in the 2nd time. read more

After searching endlessly locally and online for the perfect skirt for my wedding dress, my mom suggested to try have one made at our usual alterations shop. After a couple fittings, I totally regretted having wasted all that time when I should have gone to Minh's in the first place! It was perfect! And for the price, I was able to have two made. Why two? Because we had a beach ceremony and I was able to change out of the wet one to a dry one for the reception. I'm by no means skinny and they made me a skirt that was flattering yet chic and sexy. Saw Trinh today. She did an emergency fix for me (my dog chewed thru something of mine). She didn't know it was an emergency but did it super quick as if it was. Although it was quick, she was detailed and checked with me to confirm how i wanted it done and provided amazing work!!! Seriously she was so sweet and had amazing calm and positive energy. I had such a fantastic experience at Minh's Alterations. Prices were very reasonable and quality of work is absolutely fantastic every time. I had to alter several sets of uniform and after a few mishaps/overpriced "meh" alterations done in other places, I searched high and low for a new alteration shop. This place is definitely one of those "word of mouth" mom & pop shop and many many servicemen, HPD, Sheriff Dept come here for their uniform alterations. In fact, they were contractors for the Air Force at one point for several years (I found out on my 2nd visit). They're very honest and professional. Not many alterations will tell you straight forward that altering an item will cost a lot and not fit properly even after alteration. They did just that. I was little surprised but very grateful that they told me this. Except for that one particular item (that they recommended I exchange for a different size instead altering) all other items have been worked on and Im very happy with it. They also have their own parking lot in the back which is a huge perk. I highly recommend them! read more

You will not find ANY alterations and tailoring shop like this on Oahu! The quality of the work by owners Minh Huynh and Trinh is exceptional and the most economic anywhere on Oahu. If you're in a hurry, let them know and they'll do their BEST to meet your schedule; if they cannot (which is rare), they'll tell you so. Same day ("RUSH") service is available for a nominal fee. You can also get your dry-cleaning done here and it takes about 2 working days to get back from their sub-contractor; again, the prices are the best I have ever seen! While some may claim a language barrier, I would caution you that alterations and tailoring are VERY detailed processes, but Minh & Trinh try VERY hard to get it right. Also, don't expect them to give you a quote over the phone for anything more involved than hemming pants, adjusting pants' waist, etc. They need you to come into the ir shop so they can see what needs to be done, then give you a price. AND, there are 4 parking stalls in the rear of their building. read more

Thank you so much for altering my scrub pants! I love them! I needed to hem one of my scrub pants and have a tie-drawstring waistband installed on my other pair. I also brought in my favorite pair of jogger styled pants to use as a guide. I was so happy with the results! They were able to change my super baggy scrub pants to a stylish pair of joggers! And the new waist band on my other pair was perfect. My alterations cost me around $20 and took about a week. I read they could do it quicker for a extra fee, but I didn't need them by a certain date. Such great quality alterations & great staff! A mom & pop kind of store, run by Minh and Trinh. Minh used to be a tailor in Vietnam so he's super good at recognizing how to make things fit right. I buy on-sale dresses and have them hemmed, take-in, etc and am always happy with the results.
