I guess my friend gets to keep his streak of finding good restaurants. I came here for dinner, and with my friend, shared two starters: whitebait and a scotch egg, two mains: barbecue ribs and jalapeño mac and cheese, and two desserts: Banoffee pie and baked Alaska The whitebait was some pretty standard stuff, flavourful, crunchy, slightly fishy. My friend wasn't a huge fan, but I thought it was good. The scotch egg was excellent- it was lightly crusted on the outside, the egg itself still with a nice gooey yolk. The barbecue ribs were nice and tender, they literally came right off the bone, and the addition of nuts as a topic, while interpreted as pretentious by some, added a satisfying crunch to the dish. One point of criticism is that the end pieces were a tad bland- not enough sauce or garnish. The jalapeño mac and cheese stole the show that night. It was very rich and creamy, and the jalapeños added the slight acidity and heat that this dish seems to have had missing this whole time. As it turns out, I don't have to add hot sauce on my mac and cheese, I just need to add a little extra effort and put distribute a moderately spicy pepper into it. The desserts really were something to remember. The banoffee pie was had a crunchy crust, and they seem to have added a bit of peanut butter into the banana/toffee filling, allowing for a thicker consistency. It was sweet, fragrant and rich. The same can be said about the baked Alaska, which had a very rich brownie base, which went really nicely with the meringue and gelato. In the event that I'm celebrating a special occasion, I'd definitely come again. It's a nice restaurant, but it's also quite pricy.

I ordered a greek salad with some smoked salmon. We also noshed on some sweet potato fries. We then for a $1 each, my husband had a latte and I enjoyed a glass of red wine. The fries were hot and really good. The grilled cheese was of ample size and super cheesy. The Greek salad was a touch too simple (needed a few more olives I think to punch it up), but evenly coated with dressing and fresh. The desert case is also packed full of great looking cakes, bars and cookies and worthy of a repeat trip (prices in the case range from $68-88). They advertise a special of like $98 for a glass of Prosecco and a dessert! It appeared some couples were wandering in to enjoy this just as we were leaving.
