Holy. Shit. I rarely…read morecurse but finding this gluten free goldmine of glorious pancakes was like a blessing of the saints. The portion sizes kind of seem small but that could be because my girlfriend and I split everything and it was basically a couple of bites from each other's dishes. We got the blueberry lemon pancakes, and a meat dish for the needed protein, so one savory and one sweet, the way breakfast is meant to be worshipped and devoured simultaneously. Beautiful, small place that gets packed very quickly. Interestingly enough I thought it was a French bistro, but I believe the owners hail from Ukraine as that is the country flag that was hung outside the shape if my world history learnings are correct. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and would come back in a New York minute if I get the chance to visit Dublin again. As always people SYOY!!!

I do wish the bacon side had 2 slices but it only comes with 1. My husband had French crepes with blueberry supreme topping and an order of the potato fritters, which is its own meal. I had hot tea and he had a cappuccino. Be reminded that this is a European sized cup not a giant American size. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals so much so that I left no scraps on my plate. My husband didn't finish his fritters that have avocado on them bc he's not a fan of avocado. He forgot to ask that they be removed. His fault. Very nice young staff. I wish that we had discovered this restaurant sooner bc we would have eaten breakfast there again but we discovered it on our second to last day.

I have had breakfast and lunch at the Anvil and enjoyed my food on both occasions…read more For lunch I was being good and so ordered the grilled chicken salad with mixed veg which was full of flavour. The mixed veg was a nice addition. As the veg was hot it made the meal more hearty than your usual salad. For breakfast I was feeling hungover so decided to go for their 'traditional' breakfast rather than one of the healthy protein filled options on the menu. The breakfast comes with homemade brown bread or toast and tea/coffee. The highlight was the tasty sausages! Friendly staff and a bright light filled room makes the Anvil a good choice if you are in the area.

Tried here again this weekend! Another family dinner but not with the set menu!…read more To be perfectly honest this place is not a restaurant nor is it a bistro! It's basically a fancy sandwich bar! The menu has about 25 sandwiches to choose from and only about 10 mains! I just don't understand how a restaurant can have so much choice of one food and so little of anything else! Also the thick cut fries are basically half roast potatoes! I got like 15 roasties as opposed to just throwing 25 skinny fries which would of been so Much more appetising! Nobody likes spud overload! Staff are so good, helpful and polite! It's very kid friendly but the menu really lets this place down!

I fell in love with Amorino in Barcelona, and I'm so happy one just opened in Dublin in the Saint…read moreStephens Green Shopping center right off of Grafton Street. Dublin doesn't have a huge variety of ice cream/gelato options so Amorino is a great addition. They tell you you can get as many flavors as you want, which is a dangerous game for me. They have a lot of cup sizes to choose from. I kept it pretty tame and went with a medium size cup of straciatella, chocolate, and blueberry cheesecake. I loved all of these flavors. The chocolate was super rich and the real cream cheese in the blueberry cheesecake shined through. I wished there was more chocolate flakes in the straciatella - it was basically just a fresh and creamy vanilla. My husband got a daisy cone. They craft the ice cream into a flower. It's a cute gimmick, but I feel like you get more bang for your buck when you go for a cup. Plus, I'm not crazy about cones. Prices are pretty high, but with no better alternatives at the moment, we'll continue to come here for a special treat.

Nevertheless it was only…read moreabout five to ten minutes between getting into line and getting food, so props to them for managing the bustle. The ambiance and style are exquisite. Not a lot of sitting space, but since it's in a shopping centre and very close to a number of public hangouts and tourist attractions, not a lot of sitting space is needed. There's no way to mince words here: they are overpriced. Granted, I am Canadian so it could be that I wasn't used to European prices, but I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that they know many people passing through the doors are tourists who are willing to pay more than locals (or don't know better). For example, adding a standard-sized macaron to your ice cream cost 2 Euro; at my local Farmer's Market, where things tend to be pricey, a single macaron of the same size is 2 Canadian dollars. It's a discrepancy of about a dollar or half a Euro. That said, their gelato, sorbet, and macarons are all amazing. Both times I visited I got a medium-sized cone; admittedly, I loved the chocolate gelato/raspberry sorbet option so much that I got it twice, both times with a chocolate macaron. Beautiful presentation, as the "petals" are arranged into a flower and the macaron is placed firmly on top. Perfect on an unexpectedly hot day. tl;dr expensive but great atmosphere and food.

I work, am a single Mum, run my home, have a social life, and sometimes I'm simply not arsed cooking - but refuse to feed El Monkey complete crap. This place is fantastic for getting a bite and not breaking the bank. There is a small subway as well as salad bar and hot and cold food counters where El Monkey (Irelands fussiest eater) can get a very decent sized portion chicken korma with rice for €5 and I can grab a subway or salad and fresh baked bread for a similar price. And on those days my disinclination to cook is due to the world refusing to yield to my will, there is an excellent wine selection with regular offers. Cheap wine it the tastiest! It is also a very decent food store with all the essentials and some tasty treats too.

Staff aren't great, not very friendly and difficult to get their attention over their loud informal chatting (especially at the deli, although I've decided not to use the deli anymore because I don't trust their hygiene for items that aren't packaged). Insomnia coffee machines are always manky. I've bought ice cream from here a few times and it's always been full of ice shards, ie: it has melted and been refrozen, this is Ben & Jerrys so pricey enough for yucky ice cream. Yesterday I was picking up bread when I noticed a loaf of brown bread that was completely moldy and out of date by 8 days sitting pride of place at the front of the shelf, gross!! I really wish they'd pick up the slack because it's the closest shop to me but I hate going there. Other Londis shops I've been to, Donnybrook Fair and Gillens in Phoenix Park Racecofor e.g., are of a really high standard, surely franchise holders have a responsibility to be as good as the best franchises or Londis at least have standards they must meet, KCR definitely doesn't meet any decent standard.
