After discovering their bourbon on a shelf some time ago, Minden Mill had been on my radar for a while. When my buddy and his wife came into town for his birthday, it felt like the perfect excuse to finally make the trip. Spoiler: it did not disappoint. We arrived just after opening at 2pm and were immediately struck by the building -- it's genuinely beautiful, the kind of space that sets the tone before you've even had a drink. We were greeted by Ryan, who was professional, warm, and clearly passionate about what he does. The tour itself was one of the best I've been on. Ryan packed it with information -- not just about the distillery's process, but about the history of Minden and the Gardnerville area. It was engaging, educational, and genuinely fun. I walked away with stories and facts I'm still repeating to anyone who will listen. Our tasting covered four pours: vodka, single barrel, bourbon, and the Goodnight Bourbon. The regular bourbon lived up to everything that put this distillery on my map in the first place. But the real surprise of the day? The gin. I'll be honest -- I wasn't expecting much. But this gin is unlike anything I've tasted. It has earned a permanent spot in my home bar for those occasional gin martini nights. And if you have any love for espresso martinis, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of their coffee liqueur. It's exceptional. After the tasting, our group headed upstairs to the bar -- which, by the way, is open to everyone, no tour required. We ordered an espresso martini, a gin martini, and a meringue-tini. Each one was distinct and impressive in its own right. The bar staff couldn't have been better -- they had a real knack for highlighting each spirit in a way that spoke directly to your taste buds. It was the perfect way to close out the afternoon. Fabulous, high end and classy joint in Minden. Great cocktails made by experienced mixologists with their own distillates. The bar area is three stories with bars on each. Second floor is the best. I got to visit during the Christmas week and I'm so glad I did! Everyone we interacted with was smiling and happy to help or answer questions. My party sat at the bar and got to watch the bartenders making a bunch of fun drinks. You have to try their version of the French 75 called CV 75. Absolutely delicious and very well balanced. Minden Mill has been on my list for ages. So glad I finally made it in. First off, this place is gorgeous. The property is amazing and then when you step inside it only gets better. It is superbly decorated and has a very thoughtful design that truly honors the history of the building and the area. Our group of 5 took a seat at the second floor bar and while reservations are recommended we were able to find room on a Saturday night. We ordered several cocktails, the wine tasting flight, and a mocktail. All of the drinks were amazing and high quality. The service was also extremely friendly and truly top-notch. All of the liquor served here is either distilled on property or made at another facility owned by the Foley Family portfolio, this also includes the wines which are sourced from Foley Family properties all over the world. Some of the spirits here are heritage spirits meaning the grain is even grown locally. Pretty cool! They offer tours of their facility, bottles to-go, lots of beautifully designed merchandise, and an experience fit for royalty. Overall, this is an amazing spot offering luxury, upscale cocktail bar vibes with great beverages in a unique space. We've always wanted to check out Minden Mill Distilling and finally made it today. The building is beautiful, with plenty of parking and a warm interior highlighted by wood accents. A spiral staircase leads you up to the bar, which was the only one open since it was a weekday. Upstairs, we were greeted by Dani, one of the bartenders. The atmosphere was lively, with people enjoying cocktails made from their spirits. We decided to share a tasting of four: High Ground Vodka, Nevada Straight Bourbon, American Single Malt Whisky, and Evil Bean Coffee Liqueur. My favorite was the vodka, bright with citrus notes and refreshing even on its own. I also really enjoyed the Evil Bean, which had a sweet coffee flavor. Since I usually lean toward gin, I asked Dani if they made one. She brought out a bottle of Lighthouse Gin from another Foley company, and I liked it so much I brought one home. They are only open Thursday - Saturday, and open at 2pm. If your travels bring you to Gardnerville, I recommend stopping in. read more

What a great learning opportunity for the entire family. We decided as a after Christmas and New Yer activity that we would take the entire adult family to the Minden Mill, and do their nearly 2 hour long tour of their facility. Upon arrival we were met by Ryan, who was our tour guide, he was very professional and extremely knowledgeable of the history of Minden and the Minden Mill Distillery. One of the things that I noted immediately is just how incredibly clean and well-maintained. This entire facility is. What absolutely surprise me is how few people they actually have working here Yet are able to produce enough product to be distributed to 26 states and at least two countries. After our tour, we decided to go to the second floor bar where everybody greatly enjoyed the beverages provided along with the cheese and meat plate that we ordered. The bartender/server Was extremely polite, professional, and attentive to all of our needs. It made for a great afternoon, activity and experience. If you are visiting the RENO, Sparks or Carson City area, I highly recommend taking the time to visit and learn at this great location. read more

I came here before when it was Bentley Heritage so clearly it has been a while. But, we were in the area and not quite ready to head home so we decided to stop in for a drink. Since it had been a while, I ordered a flight. Not usually into vodka, I have to say theirs was of note. It would definitely add interesting notes to a cocktail. The winner, however, was their American Single Malt. Both my wife and I enjoyed it so much we took home a bottle. Speaking of, my wife had the Brown Derby cocktail which was a lovely bourbon and grapefruit drink. Not only were their offerings very good, the building is beautiful as well as the grounds. I can honestly say I've never been anywhere like this place. Incredible what they've done inside. The wood, lighting, color scheme, ambiance, it's just gorgeous. The chandelier at the very top of the staircase looks like a Christmas tree. Found out it cost $250,000! As far as the service, our bartender was well versed on the history of the place, and very friendly and helpful. drinks were strong! Really well made cocktails so don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed them. But it was a good thing we had a driver I'll just say that. There are a couple different levels, you can take the stairs all the way to the top, or you can take an elevator. We have been talking about taking a trip down here for ages and just never quite made it, until today! First off, the grounds are just beautiful. Driving up is a lovely experience that really adds to the overall atmosphere. We were met with a sign indicating that we should go to the second floor bar for service, so we ascended the spiral staircase and sat at the bar. My husband ordered a flight to share and I had a Brown Derby, although truthfully we split both. Everything we had was so tasty and we ended up coming home with a bottle of single malt to enjoy! We came to this place specifically after it was recommended to us by a random bartender in Lake Tahoe and we are so happy we made the short journey. OMG where do I even start. The drinks - SUPERB. They make everything in house to include syrups, mixers, etc. My personal favorites are the Brown Derby & Lemon Meringue drinks. What a hidden gem practically in our own backyard! We came down from Reno for the day and booked a tour and tasting. I had no idea how much history and information I was about to stumble into. Ryan is a fantastic tour guide as he's into history and chemistry! The building and grounds are beyond believable! The buildings were originally a flour mill and a creamery. When Bentley bought it he renovated it into the masterpiece it is today and was awarded the LEED Gold certification for environmentally friendly and sustainability and use of reclaimed materials. The mill is three stories with a grand staircase created from one tree and created from the ground up to follow the actual grain and pattern of the tree trunk from the ground up. The enormous chandelier at the top of the staircase is made of Murano glass and Swarovski crystals. The main floor is the tasting and sales room. The second floor is a beautiful all the way around bar open Thursday-Sunday for enjoying their bourbon, rye, single malt whiskey (scotch), vodka and gin as well as wines from other Foley Family wineries. The top floor is a smaller more intimate bar also open Thursday-Sunday for overflow or a small group. If you haven't visited, you owe it to yourself!! read more

What a treat! Wanting a little getaway for the long weekend, a day venture was in the works...I remembered chatting with a coworker...and somehow we began discussing the distillery in Minden and so I put this suggestion in my pocket book so when a friend and I discussed possible day trips...Minden/Gardnerville came up I thought of this suggestion what a true gem! We showed up a few minutes before opening...but it was perfect, the staff were so friendly and inviting and the overall interior and vibe was one in which I said, "I want to live here!" haha. We were welcomed to go up to the third floor but informed that cocktails would be poured on the second floor, within the good first 30-45 minutes all the seats around the bar and second floor were near full! The sweet bartender was hustling but so attentive and it was so fun to watch her make the drinks. I asked for something on the sweeter side and it was suggested to try the Camp and told it tasted like a Salted Caramel apple, that was spot on and I loved every sip of it. My friend got a Lemon Meringue drop and it was the neatest thing to see with the torch forming the meringue. We also split a Stefani to which the bartender gave us our own glass which was different but if coming again I would stick to the Camp. I would love to come back and do a tour, and check it out more in the evening as we saw fire pits in the front of the building and could only imagine how magical it is at night. Wow what an unexpected surprise! My friend and I stopped by on our way into town for some shopping and dinner and I am so glad we did. THe building is stunningly beautiful and I was so happy to see the cocktail menu had some non-whiskey/bourbon drinks. I couldn't pass up the lemon drop meringue cocktail... What a fantastic spot to enjoy a refreshing drink and catch up with family and friends! We 1st stopped at the bar area, it's not too big and they track the number of patrons. Reservations for both the bar and wine tasting areas can be made via their website, which is highly recommended. We all went for different craft cocktails with my favorites being the Milk Punch (Vodka/Raspberry/Vanilla/Cheesecake Foam) and Camp (Rye/Apple/Salted Caramel/Riesling). After enjoying our cocktails, we made our way to the top floor for a wine tasting experience and had a great selection of red & white varietals to taste. We came here to celebrate our mutual friend Jacqueline's birthday and had a great time! Tom (pictured) came by right away to give us a sample pour of their locally made High Ground vodka which was very smooth and delicious and is what I stuck with the rest of the evening. The service and ambiance were amazing. The distillery is made from the old Bentley flour mill and has kept the classic old wooden beams and steel hardware and brick. Gayle and I attended the Grand Opening of Minden Mill Distilling, formally known as Bently Heritage Estate Distillery & Public House. After Chris Bently decided to close, sell the business, and move to Scotland, the property was purchased by Foley Family Wines. The property under Bently Heritage was a classy place, with a tasting room/bar that was elegant and a great place to take adult family for a relaxing session of bespoke mixed drinks (largely vodka and gin based). And we were really disappointed when this place closed. Back to the September 9 open house - Same as it ever was! Yes there have been some changes in decor and what's served where. But at the same time, this new Foley Family campus remains a classy community treasure. And as hours expand, Gayle and I will be back with various friends and family in tow. This new(ish) spot captures the historical significance of the old flour mill to Minden while infusing trendy vibes, exquisitely crafted cocktails, and the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Aesthetic - 10/10 The Mill kept so many aspects of the original flour mill to allow you to feel immersed in history but with modern touches of a green Swarovski crystal chandelier, the most elegant staircase you've ever seen, and thoughtful bar touches just to name a few! Needless to say, I stole some ideas for my own home bar to liven it up! The Mill is broken down into three main visitor levels: The first floor is the check in area, merch, and the tasting area for post-tour liquor tastings. Don't forget to schedule a tour, it's so worth it! The second floor is dedicated to their craft cocktails with a beautifully welcoming bar, displays of the liquor made in-house, and the best mixologists in town. The third floor is dedicated to wine tasting since the Mill is owned by the Foley family who have a vast array of wineries throughout the west coast and this is a great spot to sample their offerings. Staff - 10/10 I cannot say enough about the lovely team at Minden Mill. They are incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and knowledgeable about their wares. The bartenders on the second floor are experts in their craft, making delicious cocktails from scratch and always innovating. You may even get lucky enough to meet Elaine, the manager of Minden Mill who is one of the nicest people you'll meet! Drinks: - Sherry's Unthaied (10/10) - I LOVE a cocktail with an almond twist and this deliciously balanced citrusy, almond cocktail was to die for. - Milk Punch (10/10) - WOW order this drink! The cheese foam may sound intimidating but let me tell you, it's like drinking an airy, light cheesecake! Not too sweet and boozy in all the right places. - Camp (10/10) - My fiancé LOVED this spiced apple whiskey cocktail. My fiancé, his mom and I went on a tour lead by Tom and had such an incredible time! Not only is the property beautiful with so much charm and a LEED certification, the spirits were wonderful to try! I especially loved the smell test of experiment spirits created by the team. During the tasting I especially enjoyed the lighthouse gin from New Zealand! Incredibly delicious for the summer! We came here years ago when it was owned by Bentley Heritage. It has since switched owners to Minden Mill and wow!! We pass through Minden coming home from the south and are definitely going to make this a regular stop. We were greeted outside by a very friendly man who gave us a rundown on how the building works. It's three stories and the top floor it for wine tasting, the second floor is for gin tasting and the first floor has gifts. What a neat concept! We decided to go top to bottom so we started with wine. The gal pouring was very knowledgeable and answered questions we had that weren't even about the wine we were drinking. We then went to the second floor and got gin cocktails. I got the dusk rising and cannot recommend enough. Everyone here is incredibly kind and warm.
