The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and they stock a lot of items for a small, independent shop. Brine's has been owned by the same family for over 150 years, which is pretty incredible in this day and age. I was wondering how I would get them home in my already full suitcase. I was musing aloud about having to press the shoes together, and leave their box behind. She offered to have them shipped, at my cost. I was very happy to accept that offer, because these are expensive shoes, over $200, and they deserve to be treated properly. At the bare minimum, they needed new heels but I decided to go big time (since I don't want to wait a decade to break in a new pair) and had them thoroughly cleaned and conditioned. No matter how many times I hear it, I never think to condition leather shoes until they look awful and are cracking (or about to do so). Don't make my mistake if you love your shoes (or leather bag)! A few days later, I picked up my shoes and they look brand-new (without the long break-in time); for about 60% less than the cost of a new pair, I just gained another 10+ years of life from my shoes.
