This place is disgusting. They served me a glass of water with a screen protector in it. The staff speaks perfect English and comprehends fully until there is an issue. Then not speaking English or comprehending instantly sets in. The food did not compare favorably with low quality cat food in that it is over sauced and reeks of strange additives to dubious protein and wilted vegetable ingredients. When given a chance to make amends for filth in my water and grit in 4 of the 5 entrees they refused and proved themselves to be unworthy of either trust or patronage. Love this place, but don't go if you can't be fed and done before 8:15 on a weeknight. Employees cannot wait to leave! They bring out this bucket about that time to start mopping the floors. They don't start mopping then, but the bucket can be smelled across the dining area. It's not quite ammonia, but it's cleaning formula is pungent!! Who the hell wants to smell that while dining? This was a disappointing experience. Not so much about the food but also about the service. I ordered a house special, chicken teriyaki. What I got was lukewarm steamed rubbery chicken with a questionable dressing and a few pieces of cold broccoli. The rice that was included in the dish never came. I set my plate aside and I was intent on ordering something else. My waiter returned only to bring the check and by then was too late. Springfield has many places with decent Asian-style food. I can't eat a lot of food in town because of my dietary restrictions. I ordered pad Thai and tofu today and when I picked it up I realized after I got home that it was fried rice and tofu. I came back and explained that I did not receive what I had ordered or what was printed on the receipt, and they were SO HELPFUL and URGENTLY fulfilled my original order. First of all, I wanted to order the Shabu-Shabu and guess what....the waiter said they don't make them no more. Whaaaat? Why leave it on the menu???? No cross out? WOW! The menu did not show the true price ($11.98) because it was shown as $8.98 under Lunch section. The shrimp tempura...well it wasn't tempura...it was actually panko which is wrong. All tempura must come with tempura dipping sauce and there were none, only sweet/sour chili sauce which is a huge disappointment. I felt that the whole box was kinda unflavorable. I mean, I ordered Japanese food while this place advertised as Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine so I did not try any of Thai or Vietnamese food yet. Delicious variety of Asian food! Some of my favorites are their Mongolian chicken, Thai fried rice, salmon roll, and all their curries (panang is my favorite!) Any time I've dined in, they are friendly and do a great job. Takeout is quick and easy with the drive up window as well. I've tried many dishes on their menu, and the only negative I would I would say is that their Pad Thai is not my favorite, but still not inedible. Overall highly recommend! read more

Came here with my family about almost a week ago and the food was surprisingly delicious. The only downer was how little the portion was and the fact we had to be charged almost $2 for white rice that was barely the size of my palm (Keep in mind of a 5'3 148 LB female... that's small). This was one of my favorite restaurants and I used to go there almost weekly. I spent a lot of money there. And to be clear, I am also an overly generous tipper (Always over 20%) and never complained no matter how bad the service or odd the food was that night. BUT... I hate to say that they have gone downhill over the past year and after this last, particularly horrible experience... I will never go back. To start, it was an hour before closing and the restaurant was fairly empty. They seated us by the bathroom and were actually mopping an area right up to our table. The smell of cleaner made it seem like we were eating on a urinal cake. We asked to be seated somewhere else and they moved us to the bar 5 feet away. It still smelled. This alone was horrible customer service. Don't mop the floor while you are still open unless there's been a spill. I found out later that the staff all wanted to get out early to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Regarding the food. For some time, the meats seem undercooked in the Thai red curry and overcooked and dried out with the chicken satay. The peanut sauce condiments are always dried out and kind of gross as if it has been sitting in a refrigerator uncovered for a long time. This is horrible for a sushi bar. So... well before closing, my friend and I finished our sakes when both of us found bugs in the bottom of the ceramic crafts. I brought it to the server's attention. He said, "Yeah, they get in there." That was it. They did not start out with an apology AND I had to ask them to take off the drinks from my bill. We had $11 in appetizers and still had to pay for those. I finally asked for an apology. Which I reluctantly received. This is horrible customer service especially when we are now paying 20% more for dishes due to "supply chain" issues or -in reality- price gouging. The owner walked away while I discussed the experience with the manager. The owner said nothing. She offered no apology and gave no discount or any sort of rectification to the situation. This is amazing considering I spent about $3000 there last year alone. A regular customer should never be treated this way nor should a first-time visitor. Think about it. The $11 charge and the lack of a professional apology or rectification (of a future discount) will cost this business $3000 in revenue per year plus all the other customers I will discourage from going there. That adds up to a substantial loss for this business. It could have easily been rectified with a sincere apology, a comp of $11, and maybe even a discount on the next meal. If that had happened... you bet this article would be about what a great restaurant this was and I would be promoting it to everyone. read more

Opened yesterday and we were there to try it out today. A few highs and a few lows... Highs - the place is beautiful, they work hard at presentation and the food all seemed to be fresh & high quality. The little kid liked her shrimp tempura roll better than what she's been served at several other places in town. Lows - speed of service (not unusual given that they are new), sushi combination served over ice (looked neat but chilled nigiri sushi is sub-optimal), tapioca balls in the smoothie weren't pliable and it ruined the drink. I really like the decor here. The place is pretty sizeable and has a sushi/alcohol bar in the middle of the restaurant. They have some great lunch specials. I was able to get 3 sushi rolls plus soup and salad for $11. The sushi itself was very good. I had a spicy tuna roll, AAC (asparagus, avocado and cucumber), and Alaska roll. I'm always skeptical of sushi in the Midwest, and I came into Mimosa on-guard, perfectly ready for a sickeningly dry and tasteless pseudo-sushi experience. That never happened. Instead, the rolls we ordered tasted surprisingly fresh. The sashimi plate that one of our group ordered was presented exceptionally well: savory-looking pieces of fish piled atop a mound of ice, shining blue from a small LED light in the bottom of the plate. It's a job well done if you can get both the fish and the presentation right. I ordered the Pho, which was fine enough, though it tasted more like the street-stall variety as opposed to that which might be ordered at a sit-down place in Vietnam. At least it was authentic in that regard. On the other hand, another of our group ordered the Drunken Noodles, and while I didn't taste them, they certainly looked Americanized: seemingly fried and not drenched in a almost intolerably hot spicy sauce. All in all, I think this is probably a place where you can go with a diverse group of people, and everyone will be able to find something edible and likeable. The presentation can be imaginative, and having lived in Southeast Asia, I can say that the layout and the decor of the restaurant make the place look like it was lifted out of a Vietnamese casino town -- for better or worse. read more

We come here especially when it is someone's birthday because it's clean, has a wide variety of food for all our food-specialty-diet-needs, and they have decent seating. As a vegan and a foodie And someone who has traveled in Southeast Asian experienced real Thai food in Vietnamese food this is a horrendous imitation. The service was spectacularly bad, we ordered Edemame to start which came out 45 minutes later. How long does it take for you to steam soy beans? Then I told the waiter I'm a vegan and I asked him about the smoothie and I asked him to bring me it to me with less sugar and he ended up bringing me a mango smoothie with whipped cream on top. I'm a vegan I don't do dairy really doesn't that comprehend? Then I asked about the vegetable tempura and he told me that the tempura had egg. Traditionally tempura does not have egg. We waited 45 minutes for for the food to come and it was cold and my friend ordered kimchi rice which was dry rice with an overcooked egg and no apparent taste of kimchi whatsoever. Then on top of that they brought my food first and then 10 minutes later they brought her food and so we were just waiting and then after we had returned our starter saying was cold they bring the starter after bringing the mains in random order. I ordered the Chao chae noodles and it was basically fried.noodles with hoisin sauce. This place is bad. Then during our meal the guy brought buckets out and cleaning products and started busting the tables at 7:30 in the evening on a Saturday. What on Earth? They didn't even cancel the starter because they messed it up. This is a pretty epic failure of a restaurant and I feel like people are okay with mediocrity over here. I hadn't visited this place in 2 years because of a previously bad experience and honestly this is a sham of a thai Japanese restaurant. There's nothing authentic or really true. The environment is its only saving grace having a semi decent dining area but besides that avoid at all costs unless you just want to grab a smoothie and talk in a nice atmosphere otherwise if you want service and good food run away. read more
