Update - After making my post, Mimosa contacted us to rectify the dual charges - very nice! We enjoy the food and eat here about once a month; however, the speed and quality of service staff require some work. My wife and two small children enjoyed a late night dinner that ended up costing us twice the bill. No, this is not a joke or misprint. Ten minutes after handing the server a $50 gift certificate (an Anniversary gift), I went to the register to locate my change. The staff of three informed me that they were unable to find the gift certificate in their computer and it would be a few minutes. Five to ten minutes later, I returned to the register and learned that the 27-day old gift certificate had a zero balance according to their computer. Mind you, the server never returned to the table throughout this ordeal. I informed the manager that we would not return to Mimosa and paid with cash. My family can assure you this was our first and last visit to Mimosa. read more

This place has the best Sushi and General Tso's Chicken I have ever had. The service is always fast and my order has never been wrong since I started going here. You definitely have to try it. You won't be disappointed. read more

Had lunch there with family and friends yesterday to celebrate birthdays. The setting was nice. The menu was interesting and had a number of choices. The waiter did not seem very knowledgeable about the menu and couldn't pronounce a number of the selections. The meal was good but not outstanding. Unfortunately one of our guest found a piece of plastic(a cell phone cover?) in his water glass. It was found at after the meal and put a damper on the experience. The waiter apologized profusely. The owner seemed less concerned. I won't be back! read more

My daughter ordered two rolls of sushi. When they came out my daughter dipped a piece n soy sauce. Before eating she found a hair in the sushi, we told the server who got the manager. They brought my daughter newly made sushi supposedly. When she picked up the first piece, it had the soy sauce still on it. They never made new sushi. We will never go back. read more

I am really saddened by how much this place has deteriorated since it opened. I went a few times when it first opened, and it was DELICIOUS. Not so much anymore. Today is the second time I have gone to Mimosa for lunch, and both times have been extremely disappointed. I ordered the teriyaki steak bento box, and chicken satay. Chicken satay is pretty good, nothing special. Decent. The bento box was just.....ick. The steak was fatty and rubbery and WAY overcooked. The eggroll was ice cold and soggy. The California Roll was just okay (then again, CA rolls are pretty safe sushi territory) The salad was gross, with some weird dressing that was not the ginger I was expecting. The miso soup tasted....off. Like they used a mix, but didn't do the proper ratio or something. I won't be going back. read more

Where do I start? We had reservations, but still waited a good 30 minutes. After we were seated at a cramped table (8 of us) it took the waitress a LONG time to acknowledge our presence. We ordered sushi and was told they were no longer taking sushi orders because the chef quit. A waiter brought a flaming dish of seafood to our table, but later took it away....wasn't ours. We ordered 2 bottles of wine, but had to open them ourselves....Our food was finally served, but we had no silverware. To top off the evening, our waitress slipped and fell...the poor thing asked if we could hurry and pay our bill so she could go to the ER. We won,t go back but will have a story to tell to our friends! read more

My husband and I stumbled across Mimosa and decided to give it a shot. We usually frequent Kiku, which is another great sushi place in Springfield. I was really impressed with Mimosa. The atmosphere is great, it's a beautiful restaurant. The server was attentive and friendly and the sushi was phenomenal. The presentation and the flavors of the sushi really made it stand out. Most sushi restaurants are comparably priced, so it's all about the quality of the food. Mimosa definitely delivered. I can't wait to go back! read more

Food was average and we had an unhappy waitress who couldn't turn away from you any faster. My mimosa special fried rice had pork sausage in it after I requested no pork. Before she walked away with my dish, I was willing to order a different type of fried rice that doesn't come with meat if removing pork was difficult. There was no time for discussion. Our waitress left our table without a word and we just hoped that her snappy manner may mean my fried rice will be made again. Re-made fried rice was the smallest portion size I've seen for $9.95. However, she smiled a little and lingered long enough to tell us to take our time with the check. Will not go back. Why endure miserable service when you're paying for a meal that is neither tasty nor plenty. read more

My husband and I have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. The sushi is fantastic, each and every roll we've tried has been fantastic. The first two times we sat in the bar area in a high top table. Curt was our waiter, very knowledgeable and had a great personality. Last night we actually had to sit at the bar since there were several big party's and we didn't have reservations. Sitting at the bar didn't diminish our dining experience one bit. I go to Mimosa often and today they truly distinguished themselves as being attentive to customer requests and making what you want. I asked for green curry with no green pepper, just a little tofu, lots broccoli, and some pineapple thrown in. This was one of the finest Thai green curries I have ever had. The miso soup was very nice too. As I left I told the manager that I might come back tomorrow and have the same thing again as it was that incredible. read more

The design is good, the food is very good, the sushi is just excellent! The only thing to work on is service. We came Friday night, they were very busy.The waiters were all polite and nice, but a bit of mess-up was definitely there. Nothing too bad, just a bit sloppy - orders of sushi from 2 people piled on the same plate, meal to-go was brought on the plate(and made to go immediately after). Not enough to make me avoid this place, especially since the food is so good. read more

My Family visits Mimosa once a month on avg.. The sushi is always fresh,and the main courses are always Hot and Fresh !! I am more impressed with their prices, as I can feed my family of 4 around $40 inc. drinks... Don't let the remarks below discourage you.. Service they definitely need work on but, other than that... Food was great but there was a foul smell in the restaurant that made it difficult to enjoy my meal. Our server (James) smelled like really reeeally bad body odor and pot. Out of all the smells, his body odor was the worst! He was not a very attentive server either. I'll choose Osaka next time. read more

Bun Thit Bo Cha Gio ($8.95) [at other restaurants] is often served with a long stem (or two) of fresh Thai basil. At Mimosa, less than a teaspoon of chopped basil was added to my otherwise plentiful and delicious bowl of noodles, vegetables, and beef pieces. I asked the waitress for more Thai basil leaves and she quickly brought me 10-12 medium-sized leaves in a small dish....but then charged me $1.00 for the addition! A 10-percent increase in the price of my meal! In spite of this inhospitable practice, I left a 20 percent tip for the waitress, but I doubt that I will continue to recommend Mimosa (as I have been doing for months now) as a classy Asian restaurant. Sorry, folks, that extra charge, for an ingredient that should have been included routinely, was NOT hospitable. Details such as these obviously separate "good" eating places from "great" ones. There was a piece of plastic in my soup. My mothers salad in the bento box had a piece of hair interwoven between the pieces of lettuce. After paying we quietly asked to speak to a manager. I told the manager that although we usually have a great dining experience there today's experience was a bit off. I explained the situation hoping it would help to ensure our next experience was better. The manager then accused my mother of putting her own hair in the salad. He said he'd looked at the hair and it was silver and medium length and there was no one in the kitchen with hair like that. I'd like to mention the women who sat us at the table had medium length silver/grey hair. My mom's hair is brown. My mother was extremely offended. It was humiliating. Seeing as we'd already paid our bill and weren't asking for anything I'm not sure why he'd think we'd lied. I asked if he also thought I'd put the piece of plastic in my soup. Apparently the server hadn't told him about the plastic and he immediately changed the conversation back to accusing us of having put the hair in the salad. We left my mother's uneaten lunch on the table and will not return. There are other restaurants in town that have equally good food and know how to treat other human beings. read more
