Great to be back! Outstanding service from Emma! We hadn't been to Mimi's Cafe in a few years, but after our experience today, we are so glad we came back! The food was delicious, but what truly made our return awesome was the incredible service. Our server, Emma, was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Coming back to such great service after being away for so long was such a treat. Made a 12:30 pm reservation for Mother's Day Brunch and when we arrived they said that OpenTable didn't cap the reservations. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table which wasn't bad and people with reservations were seated first but we heard that earlier in the morning the wait for tables was much worse even with a reservation. The place definitely didn't seem organized and could use a better system for balancing reservations and walk-ins. After we were seated no server came to us until we asked. After ordering, the food came out in a reasonable time frame. The food was tasty - the Pain Perdu with Mixed Berries and Breakfast Burrito were great. Portions seemed smaller than expected but was still a good amount. Overall, don't recommend on a crowded day and the reservations are a loose term, with potentially inefficient service, but food is solid brunch food with a nice family vibe! read more

I got their chorizo omelet. It was pretty good. It's how I normally like my omelets done. The outside and inside were both soft. Nothing too special, but that's how I like jt. I wasn't sure whether to give this place a 2 or 3 star because ultimately the food was not bad. The reason for why I'm giving it this rating is because me and my partner felt like this locations environment was not it. We didn't feel welcomed at all and a big thing for us is how welcomed we feel by the employees. We felt like the employees did not care to treat us with warmth. Hospitality is something that definitely brings us back as customers but unfortunately I don't believe me and my partner will be returning here. read more

A group of us dined at Mimi's. We arrived at different times. The waiter did a good job of getting our orders and was nice enough to split the checks. I had the meatloaf and a cup of corn chowder which was very good. I'd order that again. My bf had the pot roast. It must've been good. There was nothing left on his plate. We shared a toffee cake dessert. It was yummy. The room temperature was quite comfortable. It was nice to eat where we didn't have to yell to hear each other. read more

I have been coming to Mimi's with my family for forever and it's always consistently delicious, prepared well, great service, quiet and relaxing. Emma was our waitress today and while I'm having a hard time with life issues she was gentle and calm and kind and that was so appreciated. If I could give 0 stars I would. We had a reservation for 10:30 and got seated outside directly in the sun not enough chairs. We sat for 20 minutes before we had to go up and ask for a server. Another 10 went by still nothing. We waited 1 hour finally got a server who got us drinks and took our order. Never saw the server ever again we waited another hour where we never go our food we went in 3 times and was told our food was about to come out. Our drinks were filled with melted ice waiting for a refill. We finally decided to leave after 2 hours and 15 minutes. We were not the only ones walking out. And the amount of people complaining was out of control if that doesn't speak volumes. They should have turned people away as they couldn't even take care of the guests that were already seated. My daughters and granddaughter and I went to Mimi's about noon on a Sunday. The place is not overcrowded, and looks nice and clean. Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered mimosas, and I ordered blackberry. It was so delicious. Loved it. I had the French onion soup that I love, and it sure didn't disappoint! Blueberry muffin was to die for. Other dishes were just as good. We stayed for awhile and no one hurried us along. It was a very good experience. Will go again soon! read more

Not delicious, but not bad. . As for the jambalaya, half way through my meal my appetite went away. The food wasn't delicious, so I had to force myself to finish it without enjoying it. . I'm iffy about whether the meal was a little pricey. For 3 courses, $30 isn't bad. I enjoyed soup with bread, a variety of protein with pasta, and an ice cream dessert with a lil fruit. Maybe it should've been closer to $25. Non-likes: - They forget to bring out utensils before or with the meal. - I prefer the napkins readily available at the table. Our go to place for yummy crème brûlée! We had dinner elsewhere that day but we were craving yummy dessert from Mimi's. I had their bread pudding which was HUGE and so tasty! It was a new menu item so I just had to try it and glad I did. The whipped cream was the perfect topping to it. Hubby had the crème brûlée and he savored every tasty bit and he enjoyed with a Vanilla Latte. The service was always attentive and with a smile. The ambiance was relaxed and perfect for the end of a hectic day. Exactly what we needed. read more

We come here for the eggs Benedict but have remained loyal because of our server/bartender William! He Always adds a personal touch to our visit! The food remains tastefully the same the portions have shrunk but our Guy William remains a pleasant addiction to breakfast! The menu has added new items, none I have added to my breakfast selection. Just note: the potatoes are to die for, extra Benedict sauce, extra on the side for my potatoes is delicious! I've fallen for several of the Muffins but my current diet does not allow this indulgence (bran and buttermilk)! I do so love breakfast and sitting at the bar or outdoor on the patio it is William and his personal touch that keeps us coming back! Until next time! read more

I was in town visiting my friend and she suggested Mimi's Café. We are both originally from San Jose.. We used to go to Mimi's Café a lot. However, it closed a few years back in San Jose. Going here on this day brought back so many memories. It's the same great food and great service. When we came in, we were greeted by Miguel. My friend had a stroke and is in a wheelchair. He guided us to a very convenient seating area and helped us get situated. When it came time to order, my friend struggled a little bit to get the order out and Miguel was very patient and he told her to take her time and he spent the time and was very kind to us. The food was as wonderful as I remember, and it came out in a timely manner. The friendly smiles of Miguel and Martha made our experience the best. Whether you live in this area or come to visit from out of town, this is a place to go. It has a hometown feel and comforting food. read more

We had a nice Sunday family breakfast today and we had a party of 14 people. Our servers were Emma, Jocelyn and Miguel. Jocelyn took a lot of pictures for us and was our main waitress and was very efficient and friendly. She took the time and made our 9 year old niece feel special on her birthday. Attended a National Association of Family Services seminar and were treated to hot drinks and dessert. Learned alot from Dan Klein, rep and fell in love with the food and service. I have been coming to Mimi's for 20+ years. The food has always been good, as has the service. I went for breakfast today and the food and service were good, as usual. But what isn't good is the state of the restaurant. The carpet is disgusting, paint is literally peeling off of the doors, the toilet in the bathroom is being propped up by a urinal insert. The music was too loud. It just has the look and feel of a place that has been cash starved, and is hanging on by a thread. Please put some money into this restaurant and keep the institution alive. read more

Mimi's never disappoints. The dishes are always flavorful and seasoned just right. We had to do takeout for 2 at the last minute this year and THANKFULLY Mimi's had a plate for me on the come get! Staff was friendly and helpful, the food was just okay. The ambience is cute and a little dark. I got the eggs Benedict which was fine, but my sister got scrambled egg whites and she said they had a bit of an aftertaste. The muffins we got were hot and fresh. We enjoy coming here for breakfast. Excellent atmosphere. Good food. Good service. The restaurant was not very crowded at the time of our visit around 8:30am. I always order Corn Beef Hash & Eggs. My hash seems to get smaller and smaller in quantity each time I visit. My wife ordered avocado toast with cherry tomatoes & poached eggs & fruit bowl. It didn't look too appetizing. The pineapple portion of the fruit bowl had too many pieces of the core which was not too eatable. Our favorite waiter is William (bald headed guy with a beard). But we haven't seen around lately. Wife ordered the pot roast and a cup of French onion soup. I ordered the French beef dip sandwich with the mushrooms, cheese and bell peppers and fries. We were very disappointed with our entire experience, from the food to the subpar service. The portion of the pot roast filled about half the plate and looked very unsubstantial. The sandwich was also a lot smaller than what I remember a Mimi's sandwich being and the mushrooms, cheese and bell peppers were all but non existent. The portion of fries I received was also very small. The au jus was very bland and watered down whereas in the past it was rich, dark and brothy. To be honest, it may have been on par with Arby's. We are not big eaters and had to ask for two servings of bread to not feel hungry before leaving. The French onion soup was quite delicious though and the only redeeming part of our meal. The restaurant was practically empty and there were only two servers. That should have clued us in to what we were in for but we still decided to give it a shot. As such, the service was very subpar, taking about 20 minutes before we even got our water. Not one ask of how we were doing or a refilling of our waters. Per our experience tonight and at the price point that was paid, the evening was an absolute fail. To top it off there was a happy hour sign in front of the restaurant upon walking in that said in big bold letters $5 off appetizers after 8pm but upon asking our server about it he said that sign was meant to be taken down and that they would not honor it. I don't know what is happening with Mimi's or if this may have been an isolated issue with respect to this location, but it really was borderline unacceptable. I've contacted Guest Relations about this matter about a week ago via email and no acknowledgement or response even after a follow up. Tells me everything I need to know about the current state of this once reputable chain. read more
