The sandwich I had was scrumptious. I can't remember the name, but it had chicken, tomatoes, bacon, lettuce, and a spicy spread. The tomato soup served on the side was huge and very tasty. Today I tried the Three Cheese Melt, made with cheddar, provolone, and gouda. Had such a wonderful first time experience today. The cafe is just the cutest with plenty outdoor seating surrounded by a garden. I'm so sad I just found out about this place because my office is down the street and we're moving in June I got the chicken club half sandwich with a strawberry spinach salad and zucchini bread. All their soups are tasty...but my favorite one is definitely the Lobster Bisque. It had huge chunks of lobster in it. Their soups are different from day to day. What a nice little cafe nestled in a business park. They target the business community with hours 10:00-2:00. Looks like they do quite a few catering and office lunch orders. Oh how I missed Café Rose! This was my first time back since we were slammed with Covid. I have to admit, I really missed their salads and sandwiches! And my favorite used to be to order any of their salads and they could make it into a wrap - but I found out that they don't do that anymore! Since it had been a while since I had been here, deciding on what to order was tough! I went with one of their new sandwiches - Cashew Chicken with avocado, tomato & lettuce on a croissant. It was good, but really messy. The avocado and tomato would squish out the other end and sides each time I took a bite *Kind of a challenge to eat at your desk. But that's ok - fortunately I had a knife and fork, so I just used that. I'm thinking I might go back again today for a do-over - maybe I'll try to order something that's not as messy. I also have to mention that they make a really good zucchini bread, which is one of your choices for a side you can get with your order - you can choose from a cheese roll, fruit medley, pineapple coleslaw, or zucchini bread. The fruit medley is a good side too but I usually get the zucchini bread. Then I'll save it to have with my morning coffee the next day. It's so moist and has a great flavor. They also sell a whole loaf but you need to give them advanced notice if you want to get one. I don't remember how much it is - maybe like $12 - $15 dollars a loaf *totally worth it! This spot is hidden and I didn't even know it was so close to my old work! I was looking for some wedding venues and basically this whole building is connected to the Turnip Rose. The event coordinator was so helpful with us that she gave us a recommendation to try this place. The safety measures were in place and no problems with the mask policy there. The food: I ordered a Balsamic Steak Salad. It was delicious. There were eggs, blue cheese crumbles, spring mix, avocados, and of course, the meat! You also get to choose a side, I got the slaw because I needed to get more vegetables in but also make it delicious. I can definitely taste the balsamic, but it was not too overpowering. The blue cheese and the eggs matched perfectly with the springs mix to have different textures and taste. The avocado is a plus because to me, they are delicious! Next item is the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I always get fooled that it's not 2 pieces of sandwich but they are just stacked up. The sandwich consisted of the crispy chicken, cheese, greens, and for the side, I got zucchini bread. It was the perfect match to my salad. It was my first time here today and I will definitely be back, because the food here was outstanding and the atmosphere was peaceful and the staff were so great to me. I ordered the French Dip Pannini. I hoped that the sandwich would live up to the price (and it wasn't very expensive at all, really I just have high standards I'm stuck in the 1990's) and it definitely was absolutely worth it!! It was packed full of roast beef, very high quality meat. The cheese was melted and very on point. The bread was toasted to perfection. Like a pannini should be. This was a real pannini. The au jus sauce was so warm when I got it, and so was the sandwich. Together it was incredible!! The pineapple coleslaw was great too, with not too much liquid in it and not too salty or too sweet. You could taste the pineapple which made it special. I didn't order any drinks today. I am so thrilled this cafe is located 2 minutes away from my workplace. I will be coming here again very soon. I do want to try another menu option but I don't know if I will want to have anything other than what I had today. It was SO good!! This is SUCH a beautiful and relaxing place to have lunch. The name itself already has a certain charm to it. I regularly have lunch here with coworkers during the weekdays and only ever order one thing - their wet burrito especial! I love their simple online ordering system - it's so easy to navigate through and get your order at the time you request. Their wet burrito especial is HUGE and it comes with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo, so basically the works. The burrito is smothered with red sauce and topped off with mixed cheese and green salsa. The inside is PACKED with rice, beans, and meat. What more could you want! This burrito is ENOUGH for two meals - I am ALWAYS full from one half. Also, it comes with tortilla chips, something to add a nice crunch to the wet burrito. Staff here is always friendly and efficient - it's set in central business area so they know the drill and try to get the food out to you in a professional manner. It's always clean inside as well. My instincts were right on target. I was surprised to see a line out the door! It was Tuesday for crying out loud! Good lord! Luckily, the line moved quickly. Everything sounded amazing, so I decided to order a half sandwich (California Baja) and salad (Crunchy Hong Kong Chicken Salad) combo for $8.50. It also included one side and after seeing so many positive comments about the zucchini bread I knew that this combo would be the best way to sample their signature items. When my number was called I couldn't help myself, I had to sample the goodies before departing. Mmm... the salad was very refreshing and I especially loved their sesame dressing with the cashew nuts. The sandwich was also tasty with the creamy avocado and moist chicken. The zucchini bread was good, but not as mind-blowing as I hoped. To get the best deal here, choose the pick 2 (which actually gets you 3 items). I got the Monterrey Turkey - with thinly sliced turkey, an herb mayo spread, tomatoes, and lettuce on a baked bread and the Hong Kong Crunchy salad. My entree also came with a fresh fruit cup. The plate was huge. It's almost like I got 2 sandwiches and an entire entree of salad plus a fairly decent portion of fruit (all which tasted wonderfully fresh and juicy). I ate it all because I was quite hungry. The owners are friendly and also run a catering business. They believe in serving you huge portions so if you're hungry for lunch, you've got to eat here. The "Big Mouth Hoagie" was delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was filled with ham, salami, turkey, yellow peppers, red onion, lettuce, tomato and Italian dressing. None of the ingredients overpowered the other. Every bite was more delightful than the last. I got the zucchini bread as my side. It was moist and scrumptious. The customer service was superb. My coworker had the torta rustica and her ciabatta was a little tough. We asked the server if she could get another type of bread and she brought out 3 slices of wheat bread. Still a fan. The taste of their food is still exceptional. However, the few times I've been here for a coffee run in the mornings, The coffee cup ($3.25) were only filled up 3/4 of the way. At first I thought maybe it was just an off day... but if it's consistently only filled 3/4, then it must be their normal process. Onto the flavor. I usually order the hazelnut latte. What a gem! Went here to commemorate our first year wedding anniversary. The facility is tucked in a business area in Costa Mesa, and is a part of the Turnip Rose Promenade event center. The facility itself is beautiful, complete with a zen garden and a gazebo, for events like weddings (such as ours). We sat outside and enjoyed the view of the serene gardens, which is what I would recommend! Now for the food, the fish and chips special that they had was unbelievable! The fish was big in size, and fresh. The batter was flavorful and crispy, and it came with fries and coleslaw. We also ordered chicken club sandwich, with strawberry spinach with poppyseed dressing salad, which I really liked. It was good that we got the spinach salad because we chose that as our wedding salad and we didn't get to eat it a year earlier. Still as good as I remember it from the tasting!
