Casual cafe that serves breakfast. I had the Big Mini Breakfast, which included two eggs, a choice of 2 slices of bacon or sausage, and choice of potato, such as home fries or hash brown. I was pleasantly surprised you can choose toast or pancake and I chose a pancake. A solid typical, American breakfast. I liked the fact you can get once pancake as part of the entree, as opposed to having to get like 3, which would be way too much for me. The bell peppers were a nice addition to the potatoes. This is a nice, pretty good sized, casual diner that appears to be quite popular with locals and regulars.... judging by how friendly and chatty the servers are with many of the customers. I've always liked the diner concept. The way it's so down to earth, casual, and unpretentious. The only thing left for me is the quality of the food, and unfortunately, what we ordered was average at best..... not the best. My wife ordered the Ribeye (medium) with Eggs with a side of hash browns, and I ordered the Chicken Cheddar Melt sandwich with Sourdough and a side of onion rings. My wife's Ribeye was overcooked to well done and tasted very tough and chewy. Fortunately, we mentioned this to our server and she was more than happy to have it redone and suggested it be cooked medium rare, so that it will more likely to then come out medium well. According to my wife, the replacement Ribeye was much better. As for my grilled chicken melt, the chicken meat was quite dry, but I didn't expect a replacement would have done anything seeing how thin the piece was... it was obvious that such a thin piece of chicken breast, so I just sucked it up and ate it as is. I did enjoy the onion rings and side of coleslaw though... these weren't bad. Unfortunately, as much as liked this nice and casual down to earth diner concept and service, the food we ordered was just not very good at all. As such, I don't think we'll be back. read more

First time customer. Went after having a Dr appt. Food was good. Not great. But for a breakfast spot, it's decent. I like that they try to give you a million pancakes with your breakfast. I opted for toast and they gave me the option of one or two slices. Service was okay. Had to ask for jam for the toast, hot sauce and then she brought the syrup herself. Will come back again to try other menu items. Servers seem to know the customers so far to say they have regulars. Very laid back vibe which I like and don't feel like they rush you out. We enjoy coming here. Each time we come they provide impeccable service even though they are extremely busy. They have a great selection of breakfast foods and lunch items. The place is clean and can be a bit loud with it being so busy. They have their own parking lot as well. I enjoy their steak and eggs with sourdough toast. Since their homefries have veggies and onions in them I get French fries instead. I also order a side of crunch bacon. Hubby tries something different each time we come. He enjoys their scrambles, French toast and other items. Their food is always tasty and their prices are reasonable. They can get quite busy on the weekends so you might have to wait to be seated. Definitely a great selection to bring the family and seating for groups as well. We will continue to visit often. We have been driving past Suzy's Cafe and seeing the parking lot full, so we tried it today for lunch. First we waited for our order to be taken, then we waited a long time for our food. This was at 11:30 a.m. and wasn't really busy yet. We ordered a tuna melt and a pastrami melt, both on rye. My husband's tuna was good, but my pastrami had too much gristle and was hard to eat. My side fruit was very good, but my husband didn't take his potato salad home with his half uneaten sandwich. After reading other reviews, I think we should have ordered breakfast. One of our favorite local breakfast diners! This place is so cozy and has a charming old school diner vibe. Service and staff is always great. I believe it is a family owned business. Their menu is extensive and offers a lot of different options. I tried the chili verde omelette and the sauce was good and the carnitas were very tender. My boyfriend had the clubhouse triple decker and he enjoyed it. Their portion sizes are really big as well. Our usual favorites from here are the country fried steak (so so good!), the waffles or pancakes, and their country breakfast. I've been coming here almost every weekday morning for nearly 3 weeks since my company relocated. I'm used to relying on MxDonalds or Starbucks for breakfast (I don't like to cook in the morning and I live alone) But Suzy's? There's something special here. They really care. The food is made with love. The atmosphere is so welcoming. The nice lady at the counter always makes sure I have utensils, salsa, a drink carrier..... even puts a little bit of tape on the drink hole of my coffee when I take things to go; so it doesn't spill. This kind of courtesy and thoughtfulness really doesn't exist in America too much anymore. But it does at Suzy's. And that's why I'll keep comin' back! read more

I've been in the food industry for over eight years, dealing with real kitchens, real stress, and real professionalism -- all things this place clearly knows nothing about. It's 2026 and they're still acting like it's the 1950s. If their food is as outdated as their mindset, I completely understand why they're struggling. incredibly slow service with seemingly zero care or concern. all of the staff looks so confused in the overcrowded kitchen area. my mom's food came first and the rest of our food sat on the counter for over 10 min while our server just stood there. then our server said the cook wouldn't make our omelet then brought it to us a minute later? absolutely pathetic service. our first time here and we'll never be back. editing to add that the manager/owner comped our ticket and gave us a $20 gift card but made excuses. we get things happen but if you're down a cook, then you should get back there and help your kitchen instead of letting your service suffer. read more

Fantastic gem of a diner hidden in the nether regions of Santa ana on Harbor Blvd. Breakfast and lunch only. Service is always very friendly and attentive. This place has a wholesome feel inside, warm and homey. Breakfast served all day. Daily specials. I have had the Ortega beef melt which was really nice and I've had the Chipotle chicken sandwich which is excellent. The french fries are excellent and they have a nice seasoning on them. Wife woke up early on New Year's Day and wanted breakfast so we went here. We were the only customers in there for nearly our entire meal. My sweetie got the Country Skillet which is biscuits and gravy with hash browns and 2 sunny side up eggs, and toast. I had the short stack of buttermilk pancakes, with sausage and hash browns. And we both had orange juice. Everything was excellent. I loved the pancakes as they kept soaking up the syrup and I kept pouring more and more on them. We ordered the Rodeo with egg whites, chocolate chip pancakes, Country fried steak and breakfast special. There was quite a bit of wait for our orders, but not unreasonable considering the amount of people. The food was flavorful, cooked well and portions were generous. I had a great time at Suzy's Cafe with its satisfactory service, good food and portions! There's nothing I could knock it down on and at the same, nothing that really stood out. While I believe everyone here is incredibly friendly and attentive, there's one server who consistently lacks attention and, at times, even rudeness. I visited today during Memorial Day, which was a busy time, but the atmosphere was not unusually crowded. However, I've had at least three to four negative experiences with this particular server. I often tell myself that maybe it's not her day, but today was truly devastating. She didn't check on us once until the very end of our meal, when she finally dropped off the check. My food was particularly disappointing. I ordered a country fried steak and eggs with hash browns. The gravy on my steak was cold and had thickened due to the cold temperature. The hash browns were overcooked and almost burnt, and the toast was cold as well. It was not warm, and the butter had made the toast soggy because it had likely been sitting at the window for a while. I don't think this place is inherently bad, but every time I get her as a server, I have a negative experience. I never seem to remember her name either. read more

I put my name on the waitlist and noticed people who came in after me were being seated before us. When I asked the hostess why my name had been scratched off, she laughed in my face. I found that extremely rude, and I told her I wasn't laughing. When we were finally seated, a young waitress came over and immediately asked if we were ready for our check -- before we'd even ordered food. Really? When the food did come, my fries were cold. At checkout, another staff member asked if I was happy with my meal. I said, "Absolutely not." She said she'd get the manager, but the manager didn't do anything to make it right.
