Had a little get together at my neighborhood clubhouse and wanted to take my mini crab puffs. I went by to see on what days their crabmeat ( NOT PASTEURIZED!!!) was delivered. I picked it up the day before and kept the container on ice in my fridge until needed the next day. I always allow plenty of time in my prepping to do at least a double " pick over" for shells that aren't always caught in the initial picking process. I was finished in no time!!! That was the cleanest crab I think I have ever picked!!! The owner was very nice when initially went in and the young men behind the counter could not have been nicer. This was on the top ten things to find here and boy I really scored! Just the start of my seafood journey!

It is a little hard to find as the roads are narrow, the streets are poorly marked and twisted at places, but it is worth the effort to go there. They seem to do a lot of business. The employee I met was very helpful and pleasant. I think this is a hidden gem, not many people know about it beause they do not advertise and there is a wrong sign on the bulding left over from another business that says Wando Shrimp Co., but just ignore that. I'm so glad we did! If you love fresh seafood and want to support hardworking local businesses, this place absolutely deserves a visit. The first thing you'll notice is the friendly atmosphere. We had the pleasure of meeting Maria, who was incredibly welcoming and happy to answer our questions. That's something I always appreciate. Great customer service makes all the difference, and she made us feel right at home. One of the coolest parts of visiting Wando Shrimp Co. is that it's a real working seafood operation. Watching the shrimp come straight off the boats and into the sorting equipment was fascinating. You don't get to see that every day! It's a behind-the-scenes look at the local shrimping industry that makes you appreciate just how much hard work goes into bringing fresh seafood to our tables. They have an excellent selection of local shrimp along with a wide variety of fresh fish and other seafood, and the prices are fantastic--especially compared to many grocery stores. It's hard to beat this combination of quality, freshness, and value. Of course, the setting is just as impressive. Sitting right on Shem Creek with the shrimp boats, marsh views, and surrounding waterfront restaurants, it's one of the most beautiful spots in the Lowcountry. We came away with some awesome photos and an even greater appreciation for the local fishing community. This Independence Day reminded us how important it is to support local family businesses that work incredibly hard to provide fresh, high-quality seafood for our community. It doesn't look like a fancy store because it's not. This is as close to the water as you can get and the shrimp are just hours old when you buy them. I ordered 1 lb of jumbo shrimp for $10. They bagged them on ice for the drive home. They take credit cards. The staff is very polite and efficient. This is the freshest shrimp I have found. You have to try Cherry Point Seafood if you are in the Charleston area. You will.not be disappointed. I highly recommend them!
