Last minute decision and found this place! The ambience is so beautiful and chic. The decor was amazing ! So beautiful inside. I recently got diagnosed with IBS and our waiter was so kind and made sure everything was gluten free . He was very excellent! We ordered the beef and shrimp skewers. My favorite was the beef ! All the sides were amazing. The pita tasted homemade. Highly recommend this place

A delightful dining experience. Vibes and ambience make you feel like you're in Greece. The food is authentic and very flavorful. I can't wait to go back and explore more off the menu.

Had a wonderful meal at Milo's Taverna. The zucchini fritters were crispy and flavorful, the octopus was perfectly cooked, and the vegetarian moussaka was rich and satisfying. Finished with Greek tea, which was a perfect touch. Ali, owner, was amazing. Great food and a warm experience -- definitely coming back!

This place has by far the best Greek food in the Bay Area. We tried a variety of cold and hot appetizers and they were all delicious and beautifully presented. Service was very prompt and courteous. The servers were attired in a nice looking uniform. The ambiance evokes the Hellenic Republic just as you open the door. The walls are adorned with pictures from the magical island of Santorini. Prices are very affordable. Highly recommended!

I was in the area and noticed they were having their Grand Opening so decided to drop in. I've been to their other location on Steiner St. before and have always enjoyed the food there. Milos Taverna was no different. This location is much bigger, and the interior and ambiance is incredible. You can tell the owner put a lot of effort into creating this space. They also have a full bar here which I don't believe Milos Meze had. I had the Beef Souvlaki this time which was really tender. Not always the case at other spots.. the filet mignon here was cooked perfectly. No complaints at all. Great spot!

Great new restaurant on Union street. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Food is very delicious, a lot of their entrees are served with potatoes, but they are more than happy to swap for rice pilaf if that's your preference. Great date night spot, or to come with friends. Portions are generous as well.

Ali is a great owner, very welcoming and kind from the moment we walked in. The place itself is beautiful, clean, and has a really nice atmosphere. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well presented. You can tell they care about quality and service. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely come back.

Finally...a place to get traditional Greek moussaka! It was delicious but I wish it was a bigger serving for the price. The Gemista (stuffed paprika) was a very generous portion. Complimentary pita bread with a tasty saucy hummus was fantastic, and a nice surprise when so many other restaurants these days no longer offer complimentary bread. The dessert selection was heavenly, and I've been craving more of it ever since I tasted it! My favorite was the one with the custard filling and the cookie. Although we weren't drinking, they have a very large bar inside and offer a wide selection of cocktails. This is a great place for cocktails and appetizers, but I will definitely come back for the moussaka and the desserts! My only suggestion is that they offer a decaf coffee for those of us who can't handle caffeine in the evenings, but want it with their dessert.

    Hummus, pita, zucchini fritters

We stopped by here for drinks and apps, and we had such a nice time! The space is much bigger than we expected on the inside, so it was easy to get a table. The space is also really nicely decorated, and the back room is very cute with big SF and Greece themed murals. We enjoyed the Greek wine, hummus, zucchini fritters, tzatziki, and endless pita. The staff were also super lovely and helpful. Our waiter brought out four bottles of wine for us to taste when we wanted a recommendation, and they gave us a free dessert! We will be coming back!

Best Greek food and best service

The food was amazing! All appetizers, the mains, the drinks, the desserts. Oh my goodness! I cannot wait to go back. Our server, Cornelius, was a pro. He thoroughly explained the menu and catered to our tastes. The space was beautiful, the vibes on point. But Cornelius guided us through the menu and our experience to the T. So thankful to have found this spot, i highly recommend. Ask for Cornelius!

Yesterday I stopped by for takeout and had such a great experience. The food was ready quickly, and when I had to wait a few extra minutes they kindly gave me an appetizer! Very friendly staff! My boyfriend is Greek and we loved the food so much that we actually got takeout tonight too (two days in a row!). The food totally blew our expectations away. Our favorite items so far have been the chicken souvlaki, which was perfectly cooked, and the spanakopita. We will most definitely be coming back here often. Highly recommend! Unfortunately, the only photo I have is of the free dip they gave me while I waited for my food.

While we were outside, we made friendly conversation with a bartender. I overheard another bartender come out for a cigarette and call him by name, so I jokingly used his name while asking if we could come in. At that point, the bartender became extremely aggressive, got in my face, and said, "Say his name one more f*cking time," repeatedly. I was genuinely confused and asked what she meant. Shortly after, a friend who was already inside came out simply to check on us and see why we were still outside. The bartender then told her to "get the f*ck out of my face" and instructed staff not to let her or us in, even though my friend hadn't done anything wrong. It was so confusing and extremely inappropriate. The behavior was unnecessarily hostile and disrespectful. This bar does not treat its customers with basic courtesy, and that bartender showed zero professionalism or customer service skills.

I first walked through its…read moredoors in the late 1990s after moving to San Francisco, but the bar itself dates back to 1933, opening right as Prohibition was ending. It was founded by Anton "Tony" Nikitovich and quickly became a gathering place for the neighborhood's Italian and Croatian communities, where people came to swap stories, argue politics, and enjoy a stiff drink after a long day. And honestly, that tradition carried on well into the years when many of us became regulars. I hadn't been back for a few years until recently, when I decided to stop in again. The bar wasn't overly busy, but a handful of neighborhood folks were sitting at the counter, trading stories over their drinks. It felt instantly familiar. Not much has changed since the early 2000s when I used to come here regularly, and that's exactly what makes Tony Nik's special. Step inside, and it still feels like a mid-century film set: tufted leather seating, a long wooden bar that's seen nearly a century of San Francisco history, and that iconic neon sign glowing outside. While much of the city has reinvented itself again and again, Tony Nik's somehow held onto its soul. It's a grown-up bar without being stuffy, no loud club music, no trendy gimmicks, just well-made cocktails, a classic jukebox, and an atmosphere that feels earned rather than manufactured. The bar stayed in the Nikitovich family for decades, and the current owners were wise enough to preserve both the name and the vintage character Tony originally created. It's one of those rare places that reminds you what North Beach used to be, and, thankfully, still is.
