They didn't have some of the steak or pepperoni ones. So the choice is a little limited if there is a larger order before your order. Location : is a bit hot inside Patio: cute and open up where you can take a sit and watch outside while enjoying your empanadas Taste wise: taste is pretty good, a bit expensive for the size and the breading or dough is a bit dry for my taste. The front desk guy is pretty friendly. Out of the three, my favorite is actually the Spanish! It's pretty cheesy too. Just wish there are hot sauces that can pair up with the empanadas. I did tried their little red sauce..it's pretty much tasted just tomatoes sauce in a way. This has been one of our favorite delivery and take-away places of 2024. We like to order a six pack with one of each available flavor on the menu. The chicken and blue cheese are tops and they are perfectly cooked. The location is within North City for those who are near CSUSM in San Marcos. They have a cute patio and the owner puts a lot of love into decorating it for the season. I like the lantern lights for ambiance. NOTE: The empanadas are served with a sauce that is like marinara. Although, I like this, I am a big fan of using different sauces and I prefer having chimichurri sauce on hand to pair at home. I've been wanting to try these empanadas! Unfortunately they ran out of the Criolla, the empanada with steak, so I tried the caprese, fugazetta & chicken empanadas. The caprese was yummy, with hints of basil, cheese and tomatoes. The fugazetta had lots of cheese, so if you like cheese I'd recommend that one. Lastly the chicken was good, probably my favorite, it had a touch of heavy cream. The owner was so very friendly and answered all my questions, I waited no more than 10 mins for my order to be ready. Absolutely stunning food. I particularly enjoyed the: Ham and Cheese Caprese Criolla (steak) Bluey (walnut, dates, onion jam) Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! I got the 6 for $30 option and asked for one of each so I could try bites of a bunch and share with my wife. My wife and I both had the same thought after getting the empanadas here "is that all I get". They are $6 bucks each and they fit in the palm of my hand. The taste is decent but not something I'd rav about either. A bit similar to home made chicken pockets. Will I go again? For the price and the size of them probably not but maybe if I'm in the area. I think Milonga has become my new obsession. You know how you try something and can't stop thinking about it the next day and the next day and the next day? That's how I felt after I tried 3 different empanadas. I forgot the names but had one steak and onion, one caprese and one cheese and fig. It comes with a very light tomato sauce which was perfection. God bless this place and every perfectly flaky, flavorful, well-balanced Empanada. The dough was thin but held the filling well and I can't imagine a more perfectly authentic empanada. I should have taken pictures but I didn't realize how good they would be and inhaled it. I would suggest you give them a try. I did and was pleased with the results, we ordered a couple of Criolla empanadas, and one Chicken. To be honest my first thought was they were a little costly for the size, but a price break comes as your order size increases. After having tasted their wares, you quickly realize that they use premium ingredients, and by ordering a few to share, you are left with a higher level of satisfaction, because you have consumed something better for than fast food and do not feel as though your cholesterol has increased, your hands are greasy, need a nap, or you are still hungry. In comparing the cost to the average grab and go , you may have paid an additional dollar or two, but again you aren't ladened down by that gut buster feeling, causing a pause to your day, but rather one of satiation and the ability to keep it moving. read more
