Best pizza I have had in Chicago. The pizza needs to be pre-ordered and picked up later in the day. This pepperoni, mozzarella pizza was a totally new take on the conventional Deep Dish. The bread was airy and crispy, and the flavours really stood out without overpowering one with a lot of cheese. Finally got a takeaway order. You have to log in in the morning and place the order online. They won't sell out in seconds (might do on a Saturday, but haven't tried it then) but by 11 or 12 they're going to have limited if anything left. I got the Only Pans. Pepperoni was delicious, love the little cupped pepperoni that curls up on the sides. The pesto and ricotta paired really well with the rest of the pizza and the pesto didn't overpower nor did the pesto's oil run everywhere. The peppers added a nice sharpness to it, but felt a little disconnected to the rest of the pizza; still liked them, but that brightness cut through unexpectedly. Really liked it, immediately went up in the Pequod's tier thanks to the delicious caramelized crust, not being anywhere near as heavy as most pan and deep dish options. Took me a bit to figure out how I can order at Milly's. I tried for 2 weeks and finally able to order 2 pies on Thursday AM and pickup at 5 PM. I was able to order the craigslist and Leander. I modified craigslist with mushroom and pepperoni (enjoyed). The two pies was done exactly at the time they post. There is literally 1 table in the restaurant, with many seats along the window. No matter how much you Milly Rock outside thier store they will not let you order pizza in person, lol jk. It's a brick and mortar in the sense that it's physically real, but it's pick up only as they are not open to the public, open to order. It's online ordering only too, do they even have a phone, lol. Somewhere between NY and Sicilian crust it's got some Frico on it, though not climb the walls Detroit style. It's still Chicago pizza all the way. It looks alot denser than it eats, it's light, but with great structure. Sort of like a NY slice that's been reheated and these do reheat well. 400 for 6-8 minutes, but who doesn't finish these things right away. I know I don't considering the lengths it takes to get them. Online ordering opens and sells out in minutes, so set a timer. I actually ordered my first time before I even booked my flight to Chicago. I live in San Diego, but come a few times a year. It's Chicago pizza for people who know Pequads is good, but eat tavern style. It's next level becuase my local friends who gatekeep tavern style double gatekeep this. It's sort of the best of all the regions. Frico from Detroit, grandma style, but both light and satisfying, you don't need to eat multiple slices (but you will). I do regret eating a whole pizza by myself and then going to the bar. Now I know what it's like when an out of towner eats too much Lou Malnati's and has to walk around the city. The dough is multi day proofed and hydrated based on temp/humidity to keep the chew of focacia, but the half inch crust both cragly crusty brown, but leoparded to the toppings which are always evenly spread. It lays surpisingly flat despite having plenty of cheese and toppings. Definitely tongue in cheek names. Clickbait gives all the mouthfull of a meated pie, but without. The craigslist is almost overloaded, hearty. Onlypans is like a mikes hot honey on steriods. Que Suerte is odd with a spanish name, but Hawaiian inspiration. This is the closest to a BJ's style toppings list as you'll find. Honestly the Hawaiian style despite all it's detractors is better suited to this style rather than a thinner crust. Tom's Killing feels more NY than NY pizza tastes. It almost takes you away becuase of the vodka sauce, chili crunch and basil. They don't skimp on the pine nuts or the super aged parmegiano reggiano. 2+ years cmon people. Name another place doing both, even most authentic Italian places don't do that. Updog seems the least creative, but the most inviting. For some reason I was not able to order 1 of every pie for a pizza tasting I was having with friends, I was only able to do this with a friend doing a 2nd simultaneous order, our spots were 30 minutes apart, so close enough that it worked out. Our worry was getting pick up times far apart or having to order some from the other location in the burbs. Thank god they don't have arugula. It's the most overrated things Italian Americans try and hang onto from the old country. Prices are near a premium, but the quality more than speaks for itself. This is your favorite Chicago pizza lord's favorite pizza from Chicago. You have to work your way up to this, you can't just send people here without them having experienced the different levels of the city. This is all the best things that came from the pandemic. Service is pretty smooth, decor is surprisingly nice considering it's pick up only and they got 1 booth for when the weather is bad. I kind of thought they should go with a toned down sign to keep things low key. What else can I say, in a city that I can and will debate about best pizza's this is in the top 2 in the city. They sell out fast so you literally have to put an order in first thing in the morning so that you can pick up later in the day. They nailed the crispy melted cheese crust without it being burned. Personal preference but pan pizza is pretty low on my list. It always ends up being too doughy, bread drowns out the toppings, and leaves me feeling overfull. I will commend Milly's as this wasn't completely the case with them. The toppings were really good and although it was a lot of bread still, the bread had a very nice malt to it that added more complexity to the flavors. Alright we finally tried super hyped up Milly's and it did live up to the hype! This is the pan pizza Pequods wishes they could be (controversial opinion sorry not sorry). The caramelized crust is done perfectly and the whole pizza was good. Docked one star because it's THICK even for pan style and it's pricey. The best way to describe it is if you took a Detroit Style pizza and made it a circle instead of a rectangle. The dough was perfectly fermented and pillowy and the crisped cheese gave the edge crust a perfect crunchy texture. The cheese, peppadew and pepperoni combination gave a fantastic salty and sweet combination that is out of this world. The 10" is perfect for 2! They are very precise with the timings (they'll let you know when your pizza is ready) so if you ordered for a 5PM pick up, expect it to be ready for you at 5! Inside is very no frills with window bar style seating and a singular booth table inside. Staff was friendly! If you want to eat in (like we did) make sure to let them know so they'll cut it for you! Everything starts separating when you bite into it. I like a fluffier and buttery base with a little bit of crunch. I'd heard a lot of good things about Milly's and finally decided to check it out! I preordered a 14" Craigslist.org ($31; peppadew peppers, sausage, mushrooms, red onions, toy box tomatoes, spinach & ricotta cheese) and arrived with my group of three a couple of minutes early. Staff was very nice and friendly and gave us napkins and silverware when I mentioned we were going to eat in. The pizza came out a few minutes later and looked great, with cheese all the way to the edge and dollops of ricotta. The dough is pretty soft and bready, and the sauce is pretty good--not too acidic or sweet. The sausage and the cheese weren't quite as flavorful as other pizzas I've had, and even though the toppings looked nice, there could've been more. There'd be an occasional spicy bite (from the peppers?) and the end pieces with the crispy cheese were actually more hard than deliciously crispy, which I was surprised by. I thought it'd be a bit more like a Detroit-style crust, but this is definitely it's own category and much softer/doughier. I'm glad I tried it and I think it's good but it's not my favorite pizza around--I love a bit more textural contrast and more flavorful sausage and cheese. The crust was both crunchy and doughy at the same time (???). Pickup was easy and efficient. They don't slice the pizza but you can request it to be sliced if you dine in (which is what we did). The restaurant is small and accommodate maybe 5 people at most. We were spoiled with very good pizzas having lived on the east coast and were on the streak of disappointment trying out a number of spots in Chicago. Decided to check out Millys. This place sells out quick. I placed an order online for a specific pick up time and when I went back to checkout a different pickup time it was greyed out until later this evening. When I went to pick up my order there was a sign that said "sorry sold out." The staff seemed very relaxed and not overwhelmed. They all had smiles. Guess it was a good day for them, but perhaps they can push some more order out? I don't know. They're focused on quality over quantity at this joint and I dig it. I ordered their Onlypans. Like most have said it's similar to Pequods and Detroit style but with their own special twist. Not exactly a Chicago style deep dish. The crust was amazing. Who would think to come to Asia on Argyle for anything other than Vietnamese food? The ingredients are so fresh that even after polishing off a whole deep dish, you don't feel like hating yourself. I ordered the Untitled #1 which has pepperoni, jalapeños, mozzarella, oregano, and tomatoes--and honestly wished I had ordered two. The restaurant has an old-school vibe, with checkered tiles and curved benches, giving it a classic pizza shop feel. The staff is friendly but clearly hustling to keep up with demand, as each pizza is made fresh. A heads-up: their website strongly recommends ordering ahead since they stop serving once they run out of ingredients for the day. So if you plan on ordering, try to order ahead. Once they're sold out, they're sold out. On our first visit, we got some of their great signature pizzas, but now, we usually just go for the simple pies. Cheese or pepperoni. The cheese is perfect, you get a real taste of the sauce and the amazing buttery crispy crust. The pepperoni are nice and perfectly crispy, almost spicy, overall just very flavorful. We usually like to dine in when we visit, the staff is exceptional. They are super friendly and on our last visit, this past Saturday, we were checked in on super consistently. We always feel super welcome when we go and the pizza is just steps above most local spots here. This pizza here is actually worth the hype. We typically order from the location on Argyle, but look forward to trying the Berwyn location soon too. They only make a limited amount of pies per day, so I placed my order online the morning that I flew out from Vegas to the Windy City so I would have a pizza that night for dinner. Upon arriving in Chicago, I checked into my hotel and proceeded to take a ride share to Milly's. They texted me to let me know that my pizza was ready for pick-up at exactly 5pm, the time that I chose. Upon arrival, I was greeted by an empty Milly's, with 3 counter seats and one table--yes! It's not a big space, with the pick-up counter being the focal point. I wanted to enjoy my pizza when it was nice and fresh and I was so glad that they had some seating so I wouldn't have to take it all the way back to my hotel (I was staying about 20 minutes away). The guys there had my pizza packed in a box, but they gladly sliced it up for me when they realized I was staying to nosh, providing a plate and a cup of water. I chose the create-your-own option for a 10-inch pizza, with mushrooms and pepperoni--delectable! This pizza did live up to the hype. Taking inspiration from Chicago restaurant staple Pequod's, Milly's is the new(er) yet familiar shop on the block for Detroit pizza! We ordered in for movie night and the pies arrived hot and fresh with exceptionally gooey cheese. I'm not typically the biggest fan of Detroit style because the thick bread-like dough often overshadows the toppings, but they were generous with very flavorful sauce. For fans of Pequod's signature crispy crust, rest assured that Milly's perfectly executes the signature cast-iron char. Looks a little better than it tastes, but a really good pie all the same. The flavor of the cheese is very subtle aside from the rimmed crust. Quality ingredients and fairly generous toppings. $50 for a 3 topping pizza with delivery is kinda wild. I suggest preheating the oven ahead of time for best results. read more

This is a very decent pizza. We waited months to finally be able to order! Here are my thoughts: Pros: nice crisp, good toppings, not too much cheese Cons: sauce is a tad bitter, crust is a little hard to bite into, and the crust is too thick. I would prefer a much thinner crust. For these reasons I prefer other pizza like Aurelio's in Homewood. read more
