A couple months ago we counted all our bottles and they only came in a little bit short, little enough to attribute to honest error. Lately however, they have reverted to old tricks. The last couple times, including today, they are about 15% short. my first 50 water bottles netted $2.10 then about 10% short thereafter. I'd count 103, he'd type in 92. This was so consistent I asked for a manager. He said he would check the cameras and call me. Twenty minutes later he called to say it looked like I had been shorted by 7 bottles. This was clearly not true. Best advice, count and label your bottles or expect them to skim 10-20%.

They had a grocery cart with many bags of empty's. My wife showed me a Facebook post a few days ago with a video of the same person in the Terwillegar community going into peoples yards/garages stealing empty's so I followed this guy to the Greene bottle depot in Windermere. I went to tell the employees that we're servicing the thief that they were assisting a criminal with stolen bottles and they said that they've also seen the same video online of this guy stealing bottles and showed it to him and then they pretended like they weren't going to assist the thief but they ended up completing the transaction anyways after I went back to my truck to call the police. If the Greene bottle depot would help their community by not servicing people that they know are stealing bottles from the surrounding area then the thief's would stop coming back.

Love the premise of this company & all that it offers to the community. Staff are always friendly &…read moreif you like to thrift, this place is like the old country thrift stores going on weight. Some of the clothing is hung up (making it easier to thrift as you can see the areas of clothing & sizing ranges) but if you like the good old fashion dig to find treasures, there's that opportunity too amongst the tables surrounding the racks. These tables could have anything & everything on their & not sorted by sizes but just donations opened up for people to dig through before it has staff sort it. Some items are priced individually but those are listed on boards or the featured front area. Mostly as they've been recreated items (sweaters & jackets with interesting add ons) or it looks to be from their classes (poofs, rugs, bags, etc). They also have a large selection of patterns, threads, buttons, etc. They also have a few pops & candy options to buy at the till (that was a saving grace for me this trip as I actually pulled over to take a break from driving, so the pop helped refresh me). The layout of this current location is easier to walk through but I still wish they had some folding stools one could use to sit & properly dig (for those that can't stand long on cement or have mobility issues). Last winter I spotted shopping carts that helped give me some extra standing support (didn't see them this time but wished I did). More recently spotted big reusable shopping bags to gather up your new treasures. I usually bring in a reusable bag or two with me to still carry out items. There are mirrors to do a general check of look but still no area to try on anything (or at least that I've ever been told about). You have to be confident on your size or wear lighter layers so you can toss something on overtop to get the general idea of the fit. This is why I rarely buy dresses, pants, shorts or skirts here. As there's so many different styles, cuts & brands; it's impossible to know if something would fit correctly. I also don't want to add to the disposable part of the industry but sometimes I do take a chance. That is if I'm confident in the material being more forgiving or I know I'll be attending a clothing swap in the near future. My most recent fall shopping experience with blenderz was short. I accidentally showed up just before the 6 pm (their closing time on some of the days) vs what I thought was 8 pm for closing time (purely my fault I mixed up the days & didn't pay attention to google as I thought it was outdated). In a half hour, I still found something closer to what I was hunting for - a double sided fleece vest, plus I scored a dress (originally thought it was a jumper until I got it all untangled & washed at home) & a sweater. Both have lovely modifications for those that need more space to get things on the body (so that was some luck finding those two in the heaps of the few tables I looked at). I do recommend that you go in with a friend (or two!) as this place does have so much in it that it's easy to miss hidden gems (on the racks & tables). When you thrift with friends you're also more likely to help spot things for each other. Also, carpool as parking is limited, as is driving space. So depending on type of vehicle, you might find it hard to get into the right area of parking lot (some of the other businesses have signs up for their customers only). So if you need to exit & do a loop around Gateway-Calgary Tr, don't feel bad. I've had to do that several visits due to size of vehicles that wouldn't allow me to reach a parking spot from the first entrance along the narrow area & needed to drive by parked vehicles & enter at another spot. That is one thing I miss from their old location, safer parking area/slower street. As this is directly off Gateway blvd, you need to be quite attentive on how fast people are driving behind you (when you sharply turn in), who's driving in to park when you're walking to the door or what lanes the cars driving past are in as you're trying to exit at an odd angle (and sometimes through some potholes which naturally slows a vehicle down). Also, important to note that I would be concerned with anyone in a wheelchair on the difficulties they might have entering. Overall, I like that their shop is bright (but not migraine trigger bright) with extra windows letting natural light in. The inside is well spaced between the racks & tables. They always have so much product to look through. You would have to try very hard to not find something you could use, upcycle and/or craft with. Plus, if you're lucky, parking is literally outside their front door. The cherry on the top is this unique business is changing the impact of the clothing/textile industry in YEG plus offers courses to learn, purchasable pre-sorted of designated sizes clothing boxes & so many other items you wouldn't normally find (or at least in such an organized way) in other thrift stores.
