They've absolutely nailed the ingredients on every sandwich I've tried, with high-quality components selected specifically for how they go together. (Like those little sandwich shops in Europe, there are no substitutions here--unless you'd like gluten free bread.) The bread? Unreal how it can hold these constructions together while being soft and delicious. The meats? Perfection. The cheese? Incredible. That pistachio stuff? I see it in my dreams. The one area where Alveo definitely deviates from its European brethren is portion size--these sandwiches are huge! They come in a paper wrapper, inside a to-go box, and believe me, you will probably need it. Each time I've been to Alveo I've ended up eating about half the sandwich for lunch and the rest for dinner, maybe with a snack in between, and felt perfectly satisfied for the day. So, yes, the $20+ price tag might discourage you, but don't let it. It's a $20 investment in a very, very delicious day.

The only disappointment were the green beans --- they were overcooked and mushy -- though maybe that's how English green beans are authentically cooked. Overall, though, my visit was a real adventure filled with authentic and delicious surprises. I will definitely be back to try more.
