Great food and service The restaurant is new and modern. It is connected to a bike shop and right along the bike trail. The menu has a good selection with the counter having signs about many specials. Everything is fresh and creative. They do not have kids meals so I ordered bubba cakes for the kids to share. They loved the pancakes and it came with bacon. My husband tried the chili and it comes with a side of cornbread.

First time here-will definitely be back. My husband had an omelette. He said it was the best he's ever had. I had the cream of mushroom-oh, my-YUM!! Staff very friendly and the dining are is nice with a fireplace. You need to try it. And they make their own bread!

Trail Haus is a cool place for lunch if you're in Wilmington. They have indoor and outdoor seating. My fav is the trail haus salad add chicken. The French toast looks amazing. Great coffee and service too!

We've wanted to stop here since they opened and finally had an opportunity on Saturday. Cozy, modern interior. Greeted as soon as we arrived by a super friendly guy at the counter. He handed us menus and told us we could order at the counter whenever we were ready and our food would be brought to us. Said food was taking around 20 minutes, which wasn't unexpected. I decided on the poutine and husband got the Mediterranean chicken. Counter guy asked if I wanted a half portion and tbh I should have listened to him. Huge portion. Great flavors and extremely filling. Husband said the chicken was a little dry but otherwise enjoyed it. This place is right on the bike trail by a fantastic shop (Wheelies) that rents bikes. We'll be back.

We ordered 3 different entrées. Everything was very good and fresh. Service was great. Cute little place right next to the bike trail.

South Street, Wilmington, Ohio (937) 366-6220 Website: https://theblackbirdwilmington.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61577050103184 0600 - 3pm - Daily I'm always on the hunt for locally owned and operated places to support -- mostly because chain restaurants make me feel like I'm eating the same corporate dream in every town. #OverPricedUnderRated A longtime friend and BaldWhiteGuy supporter, Chris Georges, suggested the Black Bird. So I did what any responsible, waffle-motivated adult would do: I Googled it, packed the princess (my child, not royalty), and drove 27 minutes into the wilds of Wilmington for breakfast. I've got a long, complicated love affair with Wilmington -- R&L trucking memories, pay-lake fishing , horse shows, drive-in dates with a adorable dimpled accomplice, and pizza from a hole-in-the-wall called Generations Pizzeria, back before they went all boogie and built a real restaurant. #LongTimeSupporter. Somehow, The Black Bird flew under my radar. July 9, 2025, The new kid on the block, but already serving up breakfast like it's been doing it for decades. We rolled in on a day when Mother Nature decided to audition for a snow catastrophe. School canceled, and me coming off a 20-call shift with a five-hour fire standby -- so yes, I was hangry and exhausted. #ShowMeCoffeeandBacon The Black Bird's parking lot had room, the staff waved us in, and we were told to sit wherever we liked. I considered the window seat for the ambiance, then remembered the car thermometer read "well below zero" and chose survival over Instagram lighting. Good call -- the corner booth on the opposite side of the restaurant was cold, the window seats were colder, I'm sure. Service was prompt. Water for the princess, black coffee and water for me -- because coffee is a personality trait. The menu is a delightful problem: too many good choices. I solved this like a rational adult by ordering the dish that crams the most breakfast joy onto one plate. #MostImportantMeal #HealthyBoy I ordered the Two Birds Platter - 2 eggs over-easy, bacon, a waffle, and wheat toast. * Eggs: Perfectly cooked. Not a puddle of yolk, not a hockey puck. Just right. Hats off to the chef. * Bacon: I'm normally a "slightly underdone, floppy bacon" guy, but this was crispy in the best way -- not burnt, just proud. Definitely sandwich-worthy. #maybenexttime * Wheat Toast: Salted butter, golden brown, the kind of toast that makes you consider buying a toaster with feelings. * Waffle: The reason I drove 27 minutes. Warm, slightly sugary crunch on the outside, fluffy inside. If waffles had fan clubs, this one would be president. The Two Birds Platter was delicious and filling. Highly recommended. The princess went with French toast plus a side of bacon. Three thick slices of Texas-toast-style bread, perfectly cooked, topped with a berry compote that tasted like summer and probably a small sin against your A1C. #Diabetes #WilfordBrimley She couldn't finish it (too much food? impossible), so I heroically sampled. Verdict: wonderful. Staff kept my coffee above the half-cup threshold -- a service-level I judge all restaurants by. If your coffee dips below half, you're playing with my emotions (and your tip). Let's talk price * Two Birds Platter -- $11.00 -- Incredible value. Plenty of food. I left full and happy. * French Toast -- $11.00 -- Fair and generous portions * Side of Bacon -- $4.00 -- Two slices for four bucks? Either that pig was raised on caviar or someone's tipping the bacon farmer. Pricey, but tasty. * Coffee -- $3.00 -- Hot, and delicious. Kept my cup full and offered a to go cup (great touch). They asked small or big. I said big. They delivered a cup that could power a small village. It was Huge. Worth every penny. If you follow the BaldWhiteGuy, you know I have reservations about the prices of beverages at restaurants, but his was well worth the $3. May be drinking this cup till noon! #HowManyTimeCanYouRewarm Overall: fair prices, solid portions, and service that earned a generous tip. Final Review 4 out of 5 Bald Heads -- ‍‍‍‍ Positives * Locally owned and operated -- support your neighbors, not a corporate overlord. #ShopLocal * Great service -- attentive without hovering. * Plenty of food -- bring an appetite or a friend with a trunk. * Fair prices -- especially for the main plates. * Huge to-go coffee -- caffeine for days. Negatives * Bacon price -- delicious, but my wallet cried a little. * Thermostat -- it was cold enough to make my bald head regret life choices. Turn up the heat, Black Bird. #DontBeCheap If you're in Wilmington and you like breakfast, brunch, or lunch that treats you like a person and not a number, fly into The Black Bird. Tell them BaldWhiteGuy sent you, and tell the waffle I'll be back -- probably sooner than my cholesterol would advise.

Chicken and waffles were good, but struggled to eat it without a knife. The weathervane was mediocre at best. Potatoes were sad and mushy on both plates. Overall the service was really what was lacking. She was friendly, took our order and never came back. No drink refills, no check. We sat there long enough to one by one use the restroom and decided we must pay at the counter. We did not feel like the whole food + experience equated to a great value for the money.

Stopped here for a quick bite while staying in town to camp for the weekend…read more Immediately I was intrigued by the diversity of the menu; they had a wide range of Mediterranean cuisines and all looked delicious. The interior was quant and personal, with the walls covered with old celebrities, European landmarks, and historical events that give it a storied feel. The service was very inviting; we got there 40 min before close (I know I'd hate me too) and they were just as kind as could be. I ended up trying the chicken soup of the day and their crab stuffed cannelloni, which were both pretty good. My only note for not giving 5/5 was I didn't taste any crab in the dish I got, just lots of cheesy goodness (which was still delicious). Definitely a hidden gem that is worth the stop!

I had the Mediterranean salad with chicken. Juicy delicious chicken with fresh romaine, tomatoes, cherry peppers, red cabbage, Kalamata olives and a great dressing. Yum again! My son had the Mediterranean gyro. Lamb & beef piled high on a pita with tzatziki, hummus, red onion, lettuce, jalapeño and feta. He said is was one of the best gyros he's ever had. Service was fast and friendly, a nice guy. As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'
