Food is very good. Served fresh and well prepared. Great spot with charming atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Hour need to be update since they are open from 10AM to 5PM not 9AM as Yelp reports. Pleasant place where you can just sit and relax to enjoy lunch.

Don't sleep on this place, the falafel and hummus salad is incredibly delicious and so was the housemade lemonade.

What the village lacks is actual sit down food spots. (I previously worked at the Hammel House with Mrs. Bowman- we miss them!) The Butter Churn is filling a void and doing a good job at it. The menu is nice, soups- sandwiches & salad options. Our niece really enjoys their potato chips (I think they make them in house, I could be wrong.) The decor is eclectic, it feels like they have small collections and perhaps bought things locally from the antique shops. The back room had a Christmas Santa collection and it was expansive. Coca-Cola, clowns, vintage troll dolls- it all just feels like visiting someone's quirky aunts home. It feels homey and nice. The last time we went we had about twenty mins before closing and were popping in for ice cream. We were told...and reminded multiple times that they wanted to be out of the building at exactly closing time. We said we understood (I mean yes- I also love being off work on time) but the constant reminders felt like they were shoving us out the door when we were just placing ice cream orders and trying to pay. It might have just been a stressful night. We did pop in the next day and I asked about their coffee selection. The response we got was a bit dismissive and they told us "we have black coffee, we don't do any of that fancy stuff. Go down the street to Taylor's." I was going to order the regular coffee but it was off-putting so we did as they recommended and left. I know I don't *look* like a local- for obvious reasons. I don't want to believe this is why we received weird service compared to other patrons. Regardless, we have enjoyed the actual food and ice cream here. Our family likes it and visits weekly- I will just trust them that they get good consistent service every time.

Stone House Tavern is an awesome restaurant we found during our recent expedition to Waynesville…read moreOhio. It had a very large menu of various items ranging from burgers to wings, bar food and a lot more. We started with an appetizer of sauerkraut balls which was a ball of sauerkraut, cream cheese, sausage which was fried and served with a mustard dipping sauce. It was really sauerkraut forward in the flavour but good all the same. For my main course I of course went for wings. I got traditional bone in with 2 flavours one being bbq and the other being what they called "Destroyer". The bbq was a basic sweet bbq with some smokey flavour and was quite good (and extremely sticky and messy which most good wings are). I liked the destroyer even more as it's their hottest wing flavour and while it did bring the heat it also brought plenty of awesome flavour too. The wings were pretty big and perfectly cooked as well. For dessert we had bread pudding which was served with ice cream and was super tasty. The restaurant was beautiful and since it was a nice day outside we sat out on the porch for our lunch. The service was top notch as well. This was an awesome lunch experience and I definitely intend to make the trek to come back here.

Subway: Sweet Onion Cravings & Salad Regrets…read more Subway is Subway. You could blindfold me, spin me around, drop me in any location, and I'd still end up with the same salad and a vague sense of lettuce betrayal. That said--I do crave a sweet onion-drenched chicken salad every now and then. Parking? Fine. Convenience? Solid. Especially if you're ordering online like a modern human who doesn't want to talk to anyone. The app has deals that make you feel like you're gaming the system, even though you're still paying $10.79 for a salad that's 80% lettuce and existential disappointment. The inside is older but clean-ish. Like your aunt's kitchen that hasn't been remodeled since 1999 but smells like Pine-Sol, onions, and good intentions. Now, the salad. I got the #16 All-Pro Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. It came in a black container with a clear lid, which is basically the takeout version of "don't get your hopes up." The dressing was only on top--like it was afraid of commitment--and there was zero room to mix it unless you're willing to dirty your own plate. Which I was not. I ordered takeout to avoid dishes. For the price, I could've gone somewhere with actual fresh greens and a fork that didn't bend like a yoga instructor. But Subway wins on speed, location, and that sweet onion sauce that keeps me coming back like a salad-loving raccoon. Bottom line: If you're in a rush, craving something vaguely healthy, and don't want a burger from across the street, this place will do. Just don't expect culinary fireworks. Or enough dressing.

Taylor's is a wonderful addition to the village. We popped in before a photo shoot we had scheduled to grab something warm while this Texas girl battled the frigid freezing temps. (Okay it was in the 30's this day but COME ON THIS IS COLD.) I enjoyed the large selection of drinks, but I opted for a hot chocolate. I know the shop is small- an indoor seating area would have been so nice on this very cold day. The employees weren't overly chatty, in fact I'm not sure they said much to us. I asked a couple of questions about their sugar free flavor options and they were answered. I don't expect to make my next best friend while ordering coffee but a little warmth goes a long way. Our photographer had scoped out the dome behind the shop and mentioned that those usually have a heater in them. We wandered back there and it was a super cute set up with blankets and pillows. The heater was there but I couldn't figure out how to get it on. The dome did help with the wind. Lovely coffee shop- glad Waynesville has one!
