Millie's went from food truck to sharing a space with Field to Fork in downtown Franklin. Not only do they have ice cream, but they also sell their popular pancake poppers in the store too. I got the Tacone, which is a taco shaped waffle cone filled with soft serve and topped with cookie dough pieces, caramel and hot fudge. It was so good! I also got strawberry flavoring added and it was a really nice after dinner treat. They are open a little later than some other places in Franklin so that's nice and it also looks like there's space inside if you want to have a private party. Seating is a little limited but there are a few spots up near the front entrance.

Semi-private (blocked off with a door, but big windows to see right through) area for events or to eat if no events.

I first heard of Millie's at a food truck event, where everyone raved about the pancake poppers. I finished my dinner planning on saving room for dessert -- only for them to be sold out. I was bummed, but someone quickly informed me that there's a standalone location. It was worth the trip. Millie's has a good variety with pancake poppers, hand scooped hard ice cream, soft serve with flavor bursts, and a handful of other dessert options. There's a neat little party area as well if you're looking to host an event! The vibe of the place really fits in with the rest of downtown Franklin, so this is a very welcome addition.

This ice cream shop is so cute! They have so many different options to choose from. They also have those ice creams from the ice cream truck that used to drive around in neighborhoods. (Think spider man with the black gum eyeballs) They also make their waffle cones in house, fresh!

So good. Consistency the ice cream is really good no greediness no icing. It's pretty smooth which I recommend.

Throughout the meal we continued to hear the person working at the host stand talking about how the owner will not fix the water damaged, bulging ceiling tiles. Not my favorite topic of breakfast. The service was fast and we loved our server. She always had my cup of coffee full and checked on us a few times throughout the meal. Very personable! The food was less than ideal. My pancakes were thin, dense, and too crispy. Not the good crispy edge from butter on a griddle, but dry as if it has been under a warmer all morning. My over medium eggs were good, but the hash browns were lacking any flavor at all. My husband really liked his chicken fried steak, and at $4 it was well worth it. The portion size was huge! He also ordered a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich. I tried it and it also was lacking flavor. No real bacon flavor and could have used some salt. Sadly with all of the other great breakfast/brunch spots in Franklin, I don't think we will be returning.

It didn't take long to decide on the Eggs Benedict which came with choice of several sides: I went with the fresh fruit. The place was nearly full, yet it wasn't that loud. It made waiting for my order pleasant. My coffee got topped off a couple times and I really appreciated that the temperature was immediately drinkable while providing a deep rich flavor. My order arrived along with my bill (my waitress hadn't asked if there would be anything else and also forgot to bring silverware.) I grabbed a napkin-rolled set of utensils from the counter and dug into my meal. The Canadian Bacon was thick cut and tasty. The eggs were poached to where there was just a small trickle of yolk when sliced. The Hollandaise Sauce was okay, but not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. The fruit was house cut, but wasn't the freshest. Still okay, but maybe it had been cut hours before. I appreciate that they provided a steak knife to facilitate cutting through the stack, including the English muffin on the bottom. I was soon paying my bill at the cash register by the entrance and was on my way. Just enough to be full without feeling stuffed. Review #2798

The cafe is now owned by Diane, Ann's daughter. The tables are packed tightly together, but we were happy to get the last seats in the house. Nostalgic photos of Franklin cover the walls. The place is loud but with a great positive energy. People are small-town friendly and talk between tables as they enjoy their biscuits and gravy. We cajoled with two regulars who told funny stories. Our server, Gill, was quick to the table and friendly. He checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. The menu is a mix of traditional breakfast options, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Prices are reasonable. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered their hand breaded tenderloin with fries. The tenderloin was massive with a great browned breading, served on a Kaiser roll. The pork was tender and juicy. It was a perfect tenderloin, worthy of the Indiana Tenderloin Trail. The hand-cut fries are lightly breaded, crispy and hot. There was an up-charge for the fries, but they were so good and worth it. It was rainy outside, so I had a bowl of the daily soup - broccoli cheddar. The soup was hot, thick, creamy with lots of broccoli and cheese and stuck to my ribs. My soup was served with packs of saltines. Free street parking is available if you're lucky to grab a spot. Well worth the drive to Franklin. Ps. They are closed Saturday and Sunday!

And, sadly, I fear it is still just fine OK and just all right. Right as I walked in the door, there was a strong strong smell of bleach that was really offputting. It was about 1:30 so a little early for such a strong chemical smell. We stayed to eat, and we quickly sat at a booth and greeted by friendly staff. We ordered some drinks and were left to look at the menu. I chose an omelette with hashbrowns and a coffee. The coffee was good - the omelette was oddly hard, not fluffy and seem to be scorched inside and out. Not necessarily blackened just overcooked while the hashbrowns were slightly on the cold side. I'm sure I could've sent it back, but it seemed a little too needy for such a restaurant. I added some hot sauce and ate about half. It is kind of offputting as well to have to be forced to watch conservative news on the TVs along the wall. I don't really enjoy having to watch any of the news shows while eating so I probably won't be back. There are just too many better places for breakfast or brunch that are nearby and this just isn't my cup of tea or my crowd of people.

We started with the small biscuit board, which was really good--though a homemade jam would take it to the next level. I had the Vanilla French Toast and it was fantastic. My daughter ordered the bagel sandwich, which was also amazing. But the real star of the meal was the breakfast potatoes. I'm usually not a big fan because they're often over‑seasoned or mushy, but these were hands‑down the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and honestly unforgettable. They had an online waitlist that we were very glad we opted for prior to heading over. The staff was top notch. There was also outdoor dining available and plenty of gluten free and vegan options. Our young waitress then rang in the wrong order for me. They brought out our food and my order was totally something else. She immediately said "that was my bad" and had to go change it. I waited while my wife ate her food. Of course there was no offer to discount our meal at all. We have eaten here over a dozen times and this was just terrible.
