So it's been a while since we've been to flapjacks we went a few years ago when it was newly opened. It was fine, OK just all right, but not really great back then. And, sadly, I fear it is still just fine OK and just all right. Right as I walked in the door, there was a strong strong smell of bleach that was really offputting. It was about 1:30 so a little early for such a strong chemical smell. We stayed to eat, and we quickly sat at a booth and greeted by friendly staff. We ordered some drinks and were left to look at the menu. I chose an omelette with hashbrowns and a coffee. The coffee was good - the omelette was oddly hard, not fluffy and seem to be scorched inside and out. Not necessarily blackened just overcooked while the hashbrowns were slightly on the cold side. I'm sure I could've sent it back, but it seemed a little too needy for such a restaurant. I added some hot sauce and ate about half. It is kind of offputting as well to have to be forced to watch conservative news on the TVs along the wall. I don't really enjoy having to watch any of the news shows while eating so I probably won't be back. There are just too many better places for breakfast or brunch that are nearby and this just isn't my cup of tea or my crowd of people. read more

Standard mom and pop restaurant. Croissant with ham, turkey and swiss fell apart immediately and had to be cut up to even eat. Biscuits and gravy definitely needed more sausage for flavor. I had a side of Cole slaw that needed a bit of onion in it. Cute place though. read more

Three of us stopped in for breakfast and lunch. The restaurant was over half full and seemed to be doing a brisk business. I missed the specials menu board on the way in but at $9 an entree they looked more like dinner options such as the Stuffed Bell Pepper. They used to be open for dinner daily but not anymore. I tried their Philly Cheesesteak which came in a Panini style. It was okay. I prefer my steak chopped up instead of sliced but no biggie. The fries were awesome! She went with the Turkey Club. Why we don't just split one of these because no one can ever finish what is basically two sandwiches, lol. The granddaughter has become a late sleeper and wanted breakfast. She had been here before so she ordered what she got last time, eggs, sausage, fruit and pancakes. Sometimes she doesn't put syrup on them but did this time. Give Flap Jacks a try for yourself! We just moved here and wanted to try this place but didn't because of the 3 stars. We finally tried it and definitely don't agree with three stars. It's was very busy but we still got seated immediately after church ok a Sunday. Our waitress, Ari was quick and friendly. The place was clean, not too loud even though it was full. The menu is huge, so many menu items sounded good. We both got skillets and they were delicious. Our only complaint was his had too many jalapeños and mine had too many green peppers but we skipped around the extra. Flavor was great, portions were very big. We ordered a kids menu item for our toddler and it was also very big. The food am and our very quick and Ari kept my coffee cup full. No one acknowledged us or asked if we had been helped. Have been going for over 10 years!! Normally quick and prompt service. But with lots of choices for food we will be moving on. This place was around the corner from where we were staying so decided to give it a shot. The service was good, the prices fair and the food was delicious. I had the veggie omelet and my husband had the country fried steak. Since that was a good experience we decided to give them another shot on the way out of town. OK, just had a late breakfast. Ordered Biscuits and Gravy, easy meal to prepare right, wrong. When i got my order i began to eat it and noticed there wasn't any sausage in the gravy. Asked the server if the kitchen could give me a piece of sausage to put in it. I watched the server go to the cook line where i had perfect line of sight and then got a very dirty look from the line cook. Server came back and said i would have to pay for the sausage patty. At that point i didn't want anything from the kitchen or the rude line cook. I asked if the manager could come over because i didn't want to pay for the meal. Now mind you at this point i had eaten almost half the meal because i was starving. When the so called manager arrived at the table he was a young man and very rude. Asked me why i waited until i had already eaten some of the food before i asked for sausage. I told the kid because i had to eat it to discover there was no sausage in it and it was a while before the server came back to the table. This kid literally told me he would just charge me for a half order which was only a $3 credit. I recieved the check and told them i would never eat here again and that i own 3 restaurants in the area and i will make sure to let everyone know not to eat there. The two of us were seated within 10 minutes of checking in. Service was good and timely. The pancakes were soft and sweet. Prices were fair for portion sizes. This nice restaurant specializes in breakfast, but also offers lunch and dinner options. Although it gets swamped on weekends, I pulled into their parking lot and was seated promptly upon passing through the entrance. Inside, the dining area is one large room with the kitchen on the right at the rear, the restrooms on the rear left. The noise level was relatively quiet with a murmur of chatter and two muted televisions using closed captions. I selected the Eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns for my meal. They offered me a selection of the cooking method on the eggs (I went with the standard Benedict style of poached). Once my order was placed, the wait wasn't too long considering that they were nearly full. The plate was large and had two English muffin halves topped with Canadian Bacon and each half covered with a perfectly poached egg, topped with a generous amount of Hollandaise sauce. The waitress also brought a steak knife to make it easier to cut through the muffins. My side of choice, the hash browns, were lightly browned, but cooked through. I prefer mine a little crisper, but these were fine. I chose to add a little salt and pepper to enhance the flavor and used the extra Hollandaise sauce to complement the taste. Good combo! Although there was a little delay for food coming out of the kitchen, the waitress did a fine job of juggling multiple tables, packing "to go" bags for phone in orders, and getting back to customers to check on drink refills and bringing out the bill. She even recognized that the food was taking longer than expected and made sure to stop by and let me know she was aware of the delay. I like when staff pays attention to each table. Good job! Once the food was delivered, she stopped by as I was finishing my meal with the bill. Here, you pay at the cashier on the way out. I admire how hard the staff here hustled to earn their tips. I don't know what all the bad reviews are about. I've never had a bad experience here. There is typically a wait on the weekends, but I don't think I've waited more than 15 minutes, even during the Sunday post-church brunch rush. The coffee is always fresh, the servers are always efficient and friendly, and the portions for the price are amazing. The food is tasty, but I have only had their breakfast (and you can't really mess up breakfast). If you want a big and delicious breakfast for a good price, this is the place. read more

First time here. Coffee was lukewarm--something about a burner turned off. Never got a hot cup. Our server could not have cared less. The biscuit wasn't completely cooked so it was gravy on top of a mushy batter center. That couldn't be remedied bc apparently the biscuits "come that way"??? Do they mix them??? Asked for toast since I couldn't eat the biscuit--i tried. It came out like barely browned bread. I wouldn't actually call it "toast". Terrible service. If you call this location or Tom's Pancake House, there is no manager. Nobody cares, honestly. We came on a Sunday afternoon before heading to Nashville. When I walked in I immediately felt like I walked into another place called Hotcakes Imporium. Maybe they're owned by the same people? Anyway...enough on that. We were seated immediately but waited several minutes for our server to center by the table and take our drink order. We told her that we needed a few before ordering our food once she returned with our drinks. I decided to to with the western omelette (omlay haha). After a few minutes of waiting she finally came back and took our order for breakfast. Looking around the decor is anything but special. There are some murals on the walls, but overall the dining room is lacking. It's all open with booths around the perimeter and tables in the center. The place is overall clean including the bathroom. When the food arrive, it didn't look to be anything special. A typical omelette, undercooked hash browns, and butter-less toast. The omelette was pretty bland, and lacked that "fluffy" factor that other places have. The hash browns were probably the biggest letdown of all. They were burnt on the top, and flavorless and undercooked below. Total letdown! I should have sent them back, but I did not. Instead I suffered through them. I hate when you order toast and they come out with no butter on them. Who the hell orders that way? NO ONE! Luckily they had butter on the table, but it wasn't all melted like I prefer on my toast. Overall I feel that the kitchen had just given up that day, or maybe just for the rest of the day as we arrived 2 hours prior to closing. The overall wasn't anything to praise either. The girl that sat us, and the girl that took my money seemed anything but happy to be there. No smile, no warmth, just very robotic and mundane. Our server, well she just didn't seem to be on her A game. Long periods of time went by without seeing her. She was better than the other two girls I had the joys of interacting with. But she wasn't a shining star either. In fact most of the girls there seemed too busy standing around staring off into space than taking care of their tables. In the end, I was not impressed. This of course made me sad as I had heard nothing but great things about Flap Jacks, and was excited to give them a try. I read the various past reviews, and I was really hoping things might have improved despite the current 3 star - average rating. Well here it goes: I always thought one couldn't screw up breakfast, but I have been proven wrong. The only thing that stops me from giving them a 1 star rating is the biscuits and gravy. It was half way decent, and I barely mean HALF way. The rest of the breakfast was below par. The pancakes were tough and heavy, not light and fluffy. The eggs were beyond over medium, and the hash browns were not cooked right either. And sadly, everything was lukewarm to borderline cold. The coffee is never strong enough too. I am a self proclaimed coffee connoisseur/snob, so weak coffee is torturous to drink. It's just hot brown colored swill water. The place was busy, so I hoped it would be their saving grace. But unfortunately that was part of the problem. They just couldn't keep up. I suppose after as long as they have been open, they just don't have it down to an art form. For a primarily breakfast oriented place, you would think they would by now. The service was acceptable for the place being what it is. Our bill was 30.00 for three people. Ouch. When we paid the bill, the young gal at the register asked us how our meal was. My fiancé said it was horrible. She looked at us like a deer in the headlights and said - OK - in a mechanical way. She said nothing more, like - I am sorry, or,....in what way was your meal unacceptable? Or maybe,.....even BETTER YET, let me get the manager. When we left, she tried to wish us a nice day. We arrived at Flapjacks at 9:30am on a Saturday. It was packed as usual but there was no one else waiting. We were told it would just be a minute and they took our name. Several people came in not long after and joined the wait. After 10 mins a name was called but wasn't ours. We sat, confused! We should have been 1st. I love breakfast. It may be my favorite meal. And the food here makes me happy. The portions are enormous. I don't think I've ever finished a meal here. Last time I had the Greek omelet and I may never pick another thing off the menu I loved it so much. Greek olives, onion, feta...just thinking about it makes me hungry. I've had the skillets too and they are really good as well. It's a bit of an experience dining here. It's easy to tell what the political leanings of the owners are. Worth a meal if you're a carnivore, but Vegheads beware, they don't understand you at this mostly typical breakfast place. I personally am a meat eater, but when my vegetarian niece ordered plain biscuits and a veggie omelet, she got biscuits covered in sausage gravy, which was at least obvious, and an omelet with chicken in it. Have you ever been around a vegetarian that accidentally ate meat? It did not make for a pleasant breakfast, and I can't blame her for being upset. Had it been an allergy there could have been a real problem. That said, the food I got was tasty and despite being crowded we were sat quickly and served quickly (if inefficiently).
