Decided to visit this winery based on the wonderful reviews. It was cute. We were greeted by the fragrant of the fig tree on the back patio. The sparking Chardonnay was yummy. Nice, crisp and fruity. The whites (Calaveras Chardonnay, Calaveras Viognier) on the tasting menu were good. The Pinot was good, a bit light. The best ones were the Old Vine Zin (blend) and the Ghirardelli Heritage Vine Zin. Our favs! Service was a bit slow which was a surprise since there were only 2 other couples. The experience was a bit different from what we're used to, no real explanation of the wines itself. Just serve and pour. Not really a winery we were real impressed with but cute. read more

I wish I could remember the young lady's name, because she was so nice and very knowledgeable. Anyway, my sister and I stopped in on a weekday when most of the wineries were closed. We're glad we spotted this one. Tasting was great and we bought a few bottles to take home which made the tasting free of charge. Don't pass this place up. We had an amazing wine tasting experience at this adorable wine bar in downtown Murphys. The big trees in the patio provide a nice shade, while the creek below serenades the customers. Just had the best time at Milliaire winery this weekend. Went with some friends for my wife's birthday. The wines were fabulous and the ambiance was incredible, it didn't hurt having a babbling creek running near by to top it off. The highlight though for us was our fabulous pourer and new friend Linda. She was/is amazing!! She could not have been more friendlier and fun to talk with about wine but more important was the fun simply talking about life in general, she had us laughing the whole time. When we go to Murphy's we head for Millaire. Great wine, great atmosphere and great staff. We always would bring our two dogs, sit on the patio, while they wandered around and drink some delicious wine, and pick up a case to take home. Recently we were there with only one dog and Judy remembered and asked about the other one and we told her that she had passed. It meant so much to us that she cared enough to remember our dog, Sophie. Wanted to give her and the rest of the staff a shout out. We will be back, we always are. read more

This is my FAVORITE winery! I'm including Carmel and Napa. I've tasted a lot of wines and am some what a wine snob and super picky. This is my favorite, (Besides Rombauer). Even though they don't make a Sauvignon Blanc, There Pinot Grigio, Alberino, and Viognier are amazing! Also, The best sparkling I've had. Linda is a gem. Let me be clear, if I could give more stars to this magical place, I would. Milliaire Winery gave my friends and I one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. My friends and I had the most wonderful experience sitting on their back patio next to the creek flowing right on by. They have two tables that are the most adorable (and delightfully warm) fire pit tables that we got to lounge around while we did our tastings. The atmosphere was inviting and the service was simply spectacular. This is where Linda comes in. Linda is wonderful. Linda was a breath of fresh air. She was so kind to us and made us feel like a million bucks. She recommended the mulled wine which was so heavenly on the cold February day we visited. The wine was served in these cute ceramic mugs which were perfectly sipped by the babbling stream next to us. Linda was attentive, congenial, and a sheer delight to us at our table. I've been coming to Murphys for nearly over 2 decades, now. I would re-visit the same spots I had come to enjoy over the years. The last few trips that I have made I have included Milliaire Winery as a must go. While you can get great wine from just about any of the tasting rooms in town (and Milliaire is definitely included) I simply keep coming back because of the service. Just how personable and knowledgeable the staff (like Linda!!!) are is astounding. Simply goes above and beyond, and makes for an excellence experience and a memorable time. They have a wonderful interior, but do yourself a favor and if there is room available, treat yourself to their back patio. We were there in early February and a few of the tables have gas powered heaters built in. read more
