The Freight at August live music night.

Prospect 772 is a great winery with great WINE!. It is a MUST SEE! My husband and I stopped here one day, on a whim. We drove by several times before and never stopped, but always wondered about the place. I am ashamed to say that we waited as long as we did. Prospect 772 not only is one of my FAVORITE wines now, but it was the my first-ever wine club. Our first visit was on a Sunday, when they weren't really "open" on Sundays at the point, but Ron was nice enough to let us taste. Not only did we get to learn about the wines one-on-one, but he was nice enough to provide cheese and crackers!! #winning From the beginning of becoming wine club members, we have had the greatest time at the events and becoming good friends. One of our favorite events is the August Live Music Nights. The wine, scenery, music and relaxation on a Friday night is FANTASTIC! We even passed up seeing a Willie Nelson show to attend their event. If you have not visited this winery or tasted their wines, you're MISSING OUT!!! Don't do what we did and wait. :)

Love their wine. Each wine is very approachable and created to pair with food. All wines receive high marks in reviews but are priced to where everyone can afford. This is a great find and I would recommend very highly that you seek out Prospect 772 when you visit Angels Camp or off the menu if available at a restaurant.

Prospect 772 was founded in 2002 in Angels Camp, CA with an interest in small lot productions, attention to detail, and Rhone grape-based wines. They do not have a tasting room (yet) but they were pouring at the East Bay Vintner's Alliance Passport Event at Rosenblum Cellars. Why? They do create some of their wines at JC Cellars at Oakland with the assistance of wine maker Jeff Cohn. Why were that at Rosenblum Cellars and not JC Cellars for the tasting? No idea. They have cute names for their wine, Baby Doll Rose, The Brat and The Brawler. The only reason they don't annoy me is because they really do describe the wine you are drinking. The Brat is 53% Grenache and 47% Syrah. It had a complex flavor and I was surprised there was any Syrah in it at all. The Brawler was the clear winner in our group. It's a Big wine, 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier. I tend to like the fruit bomb Syrahs and my friend likes the peppery Syrahs. This was a more earthy, peppery Syrah but smooth with less tannins because of the Viognier. It was the only Syrah we could agree on all day. Way to go Prospect 772, it was a good showing!

There are a lot of good wineries in the Sierra Foothills these days, but Prospect is our favorite. The wines are world class and the tasting room is beautiful. It's a spacious high ceiling room which is lined with wine barrels and the grounds around the building are the epitome of Sierra Foothills beauty. I've included a picture of two of my kids playing with the reeds by the pond. I highly recommend making the drive out there to check it out. Chances are, the owners themselves might be the ones pouring your taste.

This is one of our favorite places to come to relax and enjoy Prospect's beautiful property. My favorite wine is Black Tie Charlie. This is a hidden Gem!

The wines are fabulous--of excellent quality. The space, both outdoor and indoor, is peaceful. The live music events are fun and casual, held under beautiful oaks. I enjoy going here because of the wine, but I also like the setting--it's not overcrowded and is off the main road so easy to park and relax. I joined the wine club last year and am happy to support their winemaking. It's the very best wine in the vicinity.

It just doesn't get any better than this--amazing wines, lovely setting, pet-friendly, and fabulous people! Calaveras' hidden gem!

Celebrating a cousins reunion! The Brat magnum came in handy and was well received!!

What a beautiful winery! Great setting and wonderful wine! The names are funny too (Brat, Brawler, Truant, Instigator...Haah!). It is a good place to stop on your way to Murphy's or just to hang out for a couple hours with a picnic and a bottle of Stepping Stones and/or Baby Doll. They are super nice and knowledgeable with some good recipe ideas too! An assorted case of wine to go and we were set! We played golf at Greenhorn which is a beautiful course about 10 min away. Great weekend!!

This takes me to the small community of Mokelumne Hill (which is in Calaveras County) where I got to check out "Renegade Winery". Don't let the word "winery" fool you as this place not only serves some delicious wine but is also a full-on restaurant that has some good old standard American food. Since I know this area quite well and have been to neighboring areas such as Jackson and San Andreas, finding this place wasn't too difficult. But for some, it might be a challenge. When arriving on Highway 49 (from Jackson), you have the option of making a left on Campo Seco Turnpike OR a left on Main Street. The business is directly at the corner of Main & Center St's while being across the street from the historic I.O.O.F. building which neighbors a blacksmith business. If you're into ancient structures, definitely check this place out. Going back to Renegade Winery, they offer a variety of red and whites from nearby Amador County. In addition to their wine selection, they also have beer and regular soft drinks for consumption. But the main reason why we came here was their food! This includes comfort classics such as bruschetta, a meat/cheese platter, and a few others. They also carry a nice selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas. Finally, I wanted to add that they even offer a brunch menu on the weekends including mimosas. My significant other and I split their pesto pasta w/garlic bread while our friends tried a quesadilla and Caesar salad. As far as the interior layout of this place, it almost has that old town saloon feel to it which is the perfect fit for the gold country. The amount of distressed wood is presented throughout while the large collection of wine bottles is quite impressive. The employees that work here definitely made us felt welcome as if we were in someone's home. I also wanted to add that the exterior seating area was equally impressive with an abundance of tables, hanging lights after the sun goes down, and even a small stage for live music. If it wasn't for the heat (it was around 100°F on 6/22/2024 at 3:45pm), we would probably eat outside. As far as our pasta, they give you huge portions and more than enough to feed 2 people comfortably. The pasta was cooked well while there was a nice amount of basil in the pesto. It wasn't over-the-top amazing that you'd find at an Italian restaurant in a big city but still quite delicious and affordable (at around $16). Even our friends' spicy quesadilla had 4 large slices that can be split between two. Considering that you get a mix of everything (winery, draft beer, and food), this place has you covered. All in all, "Renegade Winery" is a place that I highly recommend. Keep in mind that they are ONLY open for business Fri/Sat from 11:30am-8pm and Sun from 9am-4pm while being closed from Monday through Thursday. So if you're taking a trip up to Big Trees or maybe Twain Harte or even Yosemite National Park, this is a great stop with above average service and very decent prices. My rating, an above average four stars.

We hadn't made time to stop at any wineries during the day, so we choose to stop in here due to the recommendation of Worldmark staff. This is a phenomenal wine tasting option whether you have the time to visit individual local wineries or not, as 13 wineries are represented: Chatom, Chiarella, Cpppermine, Domaine Becquet, Frog's Tooth, Four Winds, Ironstone, LaFolia, Mineral, Prospect 772, Renner, Stevenot, and Zucca Mountain. For a small fee (Worldmark guests receive a discount), we tried several Domaine Becquet (Cab-Shiraz), Four Winds (Chard), Ironstone (Zin 104), Mineral (Merlot) and Zucca Mtn (Sangiovese). Buck, our gracious host, shared a wealth of knowledge on each winery, winemaker and family, making the tastings very personal, special and interesting! There was no "favoritism" for one wine or winery. One couple in our group purchased several bottles, however one, the Domaine Becquet Cab-Shiraz (DELISH!) was not in stock, but would be available in 24-48 hours. Buck took our number and as soon as this wine was available, he contacted us and made arrangements to drop it off at our room when convenient for us. Wonderful customer service! Stopped in at this winery that I've been noticing every day on my commute out of Escalon and a little upset I didn't stop sooner.
