I loved our tasting experience at Lavender Ridge. When you first come in, your nostrils are bombarded by the smell of lavender, which I love. They offer a variety of lavender infused retail products here outside of their wine and cheese. For the tasting itself, they will provide cheese pairings with some of their wines. One of the first ones we tasted paired so well that we ended up getting all the ingredients to recreate it at home, including the crackers, cheese, and lemon-lavender curd. Delicious. The guy pouring our tasters was super knowledgeable about all the tasting notes for each wine and gave us background information about where the ingredients were harvested. We purchased a couple of bottles, which waived our tasting fees. Unfortunately, there was a mistake made with one of the wines we wanted - we only noticed once we got home that they had given us another type instead, but all the wines there were very delicious, so we didn't mind the mistake too much. read more

My experience at lavender ridge vineyard was 10/10. We were visiting from out of town to celebrate my friends birthday and had the pleasure of being helped by Cheryle. The cheese and wine pairings were great. I would HIGHLY recommend the La Tur Formaggio Affinato cheese and lemon lavender curd as my life has changed since trying them. The icing on the cake was the customer service we received. Coming from someone who has worked in multiple customer service positions, Cheryle did an amazing job. She was extremely knowledgeable, sweet, and hospitable to me and my group of friends (she deserves a raise!). We had such a good time tasting at Lavender Ridge. I was happy to find a tasting room that had cheese pairings since we were a little hungry and wanted something special. The tasting room has a strong aroma of lavender, but I love the smell so I enjoyed that. We heard there is a cheese expert that is part of the staff and comes up with the pairings to go with the wines. She picks the best cheeses because they used to own a cheese shop in SF! We really loved the machego cheese with dried fruit shaving on top that paired with the Syrah. This is my favorite tasting room in the Murphys downtown area. The wine tasting with cheese pairing is only $15 and the money is refunded if you buy a bottle. That's a quality and price that can't be beat! My friends and I came here with no reservation and was seated right away by the gentleman in the front where the shop was. The tasting itself was fantastic, the person pouring our wine was knowledgeable and kind. The cheese pairings were DIVINE. I really enjoyed their lavender honey and bought some home for myself. We've been to many tasting rooms in the Murphys area but for us, this one has the others beat. Lavender Ridge doesn't produce a great number of varietals. But what they do produce, they do very well. We enjoyed the sampling and I have to say the parings with cheese and toppings were spot on. We enjoyed the shop with lavender items as well as an excellent cheese selection. The ladies providing the tasting were a delight. For $15 a tasting, this is a steal these days. And even more so because it is waived if you purchase one of their very reasonably priced bottles of wine. Best rosé in town, hands down, and I was not a rosé fan before I started coming here. It's in a super cute old building with real lavender sheaves lining the back wall. Their cheese selection is off the hook and is curated by a professional cheesemonger. They don't take reservations and they can get pretty busy on weekends, so there might be a wait for a tasting but it's so worth it. The little cheese pairings that come with the tasting never miss (we're still replicating one from last year that was Cremont + wildflower honey). Very worth a visit! Like other wineries, they have a few for tastings, which can be waived if you buy a bottle. Out of the different wines we tried, we liked the rosé enough to get a bottle to go. I really liked that they paired the tastings with different cheeses. I love cheese. A few people came in during our tasting just to buy cheese from their cheese fridge. They also have a lot of lavender products, crackers and spreads. It's a one stop shop if you're planning on having a picnic. The interior was nice. I liked all the drying lavender. The little store is very personable and cute! We visited during the weekend and there was a few people in there, the limit is 10 in the space with a face covering during Covid. It was my birthday as well as the man who worked there so that was pretty fun! After my brain broke from getting too excited I narrowed down my purchase to a lavender recipe guide with a packet of lavender and a herb mix included, and a lavender earl grey tea test tube. The scent of lavender actually wafts outside to the sidewalk. Loved that. The wall facing you when you walk in is covered with fresh lavender. Loved that. There are a slew of lavender products for sale. Loved that. The star of the tasting was the artisanal cheese pairing. Divine. Beautifully presented, well paired, & delicious. There was not a wine that struck me enough to consider making a purchase. Though this could be the fault of having come directly after a tasting at La Folia, which was exceptional. La Folia is a hard act to follow. A warm, inviting space. The lavender element is definitely memorable. But I'll be more inclined to return to cheese shop rather than for the wine. We've been coming to Murphy's for years. We love to go winetasting. We went to Lavender Ridge Vineyard and we haven't been here for a while. It hasn't changed. The ambiance and service is great. You get cheese pairing with the wine tasting. One thing I noticed is that their prices haven't gone through the roof like many of the tasting rooms. Wines are ok but no details about anything. They are "tiny" samples to complement the wine. Wine is good but nothing exceptional. Before I get to my review I musr say this little town is great. It has a definite tourist feel, it also feels very nostalgic and welcoming. We drove down from Elk Grove to enjoy the weather and sample the local wines. The main road through town is packed with wineries, restaurants and antique stores. So you can imagine parking is a bit cumbersome. Ok on to the winery. This place is very pretty cool. There is a tasting fee, but is only a few dollars and is refunded when you purchase a bottle. I loved the wine and cheese pairings. The have an extensive wine list and you get to taste them all.
