Thankfully the guy saw it and took them off the bill. Anyway the honor system is nice. The burgers would be better with a little salt/pepper and grilled onions. The bun for my medium rare burger was soaked with blood (and not in a good way:-)), and I got the sense that this is not the kind of the place where you send it back. The booze selection is more vast than the food selection which is apparently limited to burgers, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, onion rings, and fries, but the beer on tap at Miller's is appropriately only High Life and Miller Light. My Detroit-based brother tells me that Oprah has this place on her top 20 burger place list (not that I would count on Oprah for burger advice), but we both could think of twenty places where we've had better burgers. This place ROCKs! Ok, so driving up to this place is totally seedy. The building has no windows, a door facing each street (it's on the corner). I swear, it looked like we were going to an old, dirty nudie bar! I walk in first and have no idea what is going on. The bar is in the front and rest of the tables are in the back. The waitress was really nice and she could tell we were new and from out of state. We sat ourselves, ordered from the waitress, who doesn't give us a bill at the end of the night. It's on this complete honor system and you just tell the bartender what you've ordered. Here's the menu. Burger. Cheeseburger. Fries. Onion Rings. That's it! It's a tiny flat top that they cook on and the cheese is this huge block of Velveeta, you know, it looks like the kind you get with food stamps. I swear, I think it's that age old rumor that the more you cook on the flat top, the tastier it gets with age. But those burgers ... flippin good!!! I would jump at the chance to go out to MI for work just to hit up Millers. And YES, I brought a client here. haha. It's a nice family run bar restaurant, which is good. I like mom and pop shop. Everything else that follows is out of the ordinary. Water only served in a bottle. Soda only served in a can which means "no free refills". Each Sandwich or burger is served on "two pieces of wax paper" directly placed on the table, which means "no plates". At one point, a thought crossed my mind, "I am not a dog, why is my sandwich served on two pieces of paper at a sit down restaurant"? I guess my sandwich was placed on a table, so it not that bad, its actually meant for a customer, me. Then I looked around my environment and it looks like a decent local bar and it doesn't look like a food truck either...so where is my plate? I ordered to dine in too. I am so confused. Then I asked for a "small box" to pack up my left over half sandwich. I received "two new wax papers" + a brown bag. :) just what I wanted. It's fantastic...lol Then I was advised that it's an honor system when it's time to pay the bill. At first I thought "wow, that different", in a good way. Then I went to pay for my bill and I forgot to tell the cashier i ordered two water bottles. The cashier reminded me of my mistake and I was so so so embarrassed. Then I thought, "honor system", not so good idea, because a customer can potentially be embarrassed by not remembering what they ordered. Overall, not what I expected from a restaurant as far as basic accomodations. But my sandwich and burger was pretty good. I thought the owners must be very confident and sure with their food they serve because they expect me to not see anything else that was amiss but unfortunately our dinner conversation was not about the food. okay i love miller's! is it the best possible food at the best prices with the best selection and atmosphere? probably not, but so what, it's great! so i didn't probably didn't sell it too well with that opening, but i came here, ate, and had a good time. the burgers are juicy good and soaked in grease and cheese. the buns are those most generically white buns ever (my favorite kind). the fries and onions rings come out burning hot and crispy. i really don't see the problem. the only weird thing i didn't like was that they won't serve you tap water if you're not drinking something else and make you pay for bottled water. i get that you want to make money off everyone who comes in and drinks are high margin, but if that person is getting a lot of food, i think you should consider letting it slide maybe? you're still making a bit of money off of them. some people just don't drink caffeine late or booze at all. i think that was the only thing that made me not want to give it five stars because everything else was totally excellent. our waitress was really nice and patient with our questions. i noticed too late that they had high life on draft, which i totally would have gone for if i wasn't already stuffed. i asked for hot sauce and got a giant bottle of tabasco. like a fifth of tabasco really. it's so great to find tabasco because most places either just have red hot. and then to get a ton of it. brilliant. the prices are a bit high, but i stlil think it's worth it once in a while. i want to come back and try the corned beef. i know that's somewhat blasphemous but i mean it. read more

If you asked me to find a better burger anywhere in the world, I would be hard pressed to give you a superior to the burger served at Miller's Bar. I can think of a few that run neck-and-neck with them, but nothing clearly tops them. Miller's Bar is exactly that, a bar. But because of this burger, they had to throw on an addition to accommodate the demand. Tell me another place that's expanded, solely based on a hamburger. So you when you are finally seated, the waitress just asks how you want it, if you want fries or onion rings, and what you're drinking. The place is basically a troth (albeit a clean and sanitary troth) which you go to and eat burgers. I came here on Friday, March 6th with a friend from Detroit for a quick lunch in between flights. One thing I absolutely loved about this place is it has such a chill/casual environment. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers with water (you have to pay for water as part of their company policy, but it's bottled...). They grill your burgers on the spot with fresh beef to your liking. No matter how well it is done (which in my case, was actually "well done"), they do an awesome job at maintaining the flavour of your food. We were in and out in about 35 minutes. Food was cooked well and at higher temperatures to ensure thorough cooking. I definitely recommend this place, especially if you're in a rush and want some great food to go. read more

What can I say.. heard all they hype about this place for years. Tried it for the first time by placing a phone order. Told the person taking my order my name. They decided to give me another name due to "it may not fit on the bag"??? As confused as I was I still pursued fully aware that the burger I ordered does not come with veggies and seemed overpriced and it's cash only (I was suspicious when I was told this). I added an order of fries and was informed that there was only one size for 4.00.. "these must be some good fries" went through my head. If the burger doesn't meet expectations certainly the fries must. Price for my burger with cheese and fries..13.00. So here I go. I go in and let the bartender know I was here to pick up and order for "Larry" even though my name is Lawrence. The bartender tells a person who seemed like the owner/manager that I'm here. I pay and notice the person making burgers wearing only one glove ?? My order is brought down and i am told "Lawrence, your order is ready and I was able to fit your name across the bag". Was i supposed to be excited about that? Lol. I paid, left a tip and walked to my car where I opened my bag to see what all this hype was about. I opened the fries to find shoestring cut fries and not even a good portion amount for 4.00?? I was like OMG??? I can't believe this. I was like this burger better be all it's suppose to be or else I am leaving a review. I opened the cheeseburger to find absolutely nothing special in appearance. The pickles and onions were definitely over portioned. To huge full slices of onions and about 10 pickles both of which I discarded most and felt really bad about wasting. The burger tasted ok but not worth 9.00 at all! I failed to take a picture out of my order due to not expecting to do a review. What a waste of money. Trust me, your not missing anything at all. If you want 37 items on your burger, then the famous Red Coat Tavern should be your destination, but if you want burger distilled to its essence it's Miller's Bar. Drink choices are full-bar (don't try ordering an Appletini or Cosmo-poofy drink either, this is a mostly a shot and beer place), Ice-cold Strohs, Miller (of course) and other bottled or draft choices fill out the list. The last two times we were there the burgers don't taste anything like they use to, perhaps they changed their meat vendor not sure. They raised their prices to $8.00 a cheeseburger which if it was good I wouldn't mind but it was not good at all. So sad this place has built a reputation for years for their burgers and now they suck. I'm a huge fan of Miller's Bar. My boyfriend grew up in Dearborn and was a frequent visitor - still is - and introduced me to their burgers. He started off by telling me that it was voted as one of GQ's Top burgers, then went on to tell me that it's a hole-in-the-wall type of place without a menu. While his description was pretty much dead on, it wasn't a turn on, and I avoided the place for awhile. When I finally did get a Miller's burger, I fell in love! I don't know what it is about their burgers, but they are perfect. I'm a fan of burgers in general, but besides Kobe beef sliders at a few select restaurants, Miller's burgers are my favorite. A small little dive bar in downtown Dearborn. I went there for a large get together and we were set in the back room, or party room it seemed like. One of the best "cheap" burgers that I've ever had. The drinks were also really great as well. My only issue was with the entrance. Was incredibly confused as to where to go because I parked in the back and on the front side, the door isn't very obvious either. Nonetheless, I loved being there and it was a great setting for my cousin's 21st birthday! Will go out of my way to come back. read more

Everything about Miller's Bar reads as tried and true; it is the quintessential classic American bar. I can't help but be disappointed in their beer selection. I know that isn't fair- I can't expect some extensive list of beers, just the standard domestics, but I was disappointed nonetheless. So onto the meat of the review (sorry, I couldn't help myself): the burger. Juicy, greasy, tasty. Can I be honest? Did not change my life as promised. I also sampled the fries and onion rings. While you can easily mess up these two simple sides, thankfully, Miller's gets em right. Can't beat it. Final verdict: Good, tasty food when you are in the mood for an old standby. Came here a month ago with my wife after I had heard so many good things for years about the burgers and we were in the mood to check it out. It was EVERYTHING and MORE! Obviously there's only hamburger, cheeseburger, fries and onion rings, and canned pop and 3 beer choices... but it is definitely top 3 burger in my book anyway! The cheeseburger came perfectly cooked, moist and delicious... perfectly seasoned and I was able to put extra onions and pickles to complement the burger. OMG. It's like melt in your mouth good... i don't know how they do it, but it is worth it! Fries were hot and delicious, i think they specifically fry a new batch for each order, no heat lamps. Of course the draw back is cash only, lack of beer choices, and kind of a dark, dingy atmosphere... but coming here during a non-lunch rush (we came at about 1:30), it just hit the spot.
