On our first day in Italy, we wanted to get some gelato or ice cream and found good reviews within walking distance. Everything tasted good that we ordered, including pistachio, raspberry, and mango flavors were great. The staff was friendly and easy to communicate. Interior is great, and they have limited seating inside and a few tables outside. Located very closer to vatican city. Only weird thing we noticed that the staff was tasting the gelato with spoons, and they were washing the spoons and again retasted them. We stopped going after seeing that. Even though they washed the spoons, it doesn't look appealing.

This is what I got on my second visit there. It's amazing! I'm not sure exactly what it is called but I got it again a few days later!

Millennium is a wonderful little shop! My family is full of gelato fanatics and this one is definitely very good! It's really close to the Vatican so it's definitely a good choice after a few hours in the museums! I went there a few times and it was great every time! I'd absolutely recommend getting a samples of things you haven't heard of :)

    Chocolate and pistachio.

Best gelato in Italy, hands down. Been going here for over 15 years and it never disappoints. Super high quality, friendly service, good prices. Walk 45 minutes each way to get it and pass 20 gelatarias on my way there.

Two creamy vegan gelati, hazelnut and pistachio. "Soia" means soy.

This was our first gelato of our trip to Italy, and it made an impression! I told the woman behind the counter that I was vegan, and she told me which fruit options were safe, and that she had two soy flavors, hazelnut and pistachio. She also had a deeeeeeep dark chocolate without any milk. A nutella fan for life, I had to go with the hazelnut/chocolate combo. The chocolate was a little much for me, it was just so dark and it melted so quickly (aka it ended up all over my hands and face, haha), but the hazelnut was the best hazelnut gelato I had on the entire trip. It was so rich and creamy. I'd suggest getting the hazelnut with just a little bit of chocolate, because it's going to melt and the whole thing is going to taste like chocolate covered hazelnuts, which is very, very delicious. Would return for that soy hazelnut gelato any day, it was amazing. Stop here after getting pizza at Bonci, or after touring the Vatican.

The kiwi gelato was really good. I would come back for more. 4 Euros for a cone with three flavours.

On International Women's Day we stopped here with my parents and our 4-year-old daughter after walking around Trastevere. We ordered espresso for everyone and sat outside. Our daughter had a small tiramisu we bought at another shop a few minutes earlier. Within seconds the owner stormed out and started shouting at us aggressively about the tiramisu. Not explaining. Not asking politely. Just yelling. We tried to explain that we had ordered drinks and were paying customers, but instead of behaving like someone who runs a hospitality business, he escalated the situation into a loud public confrontation. Then his younger partner came out and joined the shouting. Two grown men screaming at a family with a small child in the middle of a tourist street. At that point our 4-year-old daughter started crying because she was scared by the way they were yelling at us. What was the reaction of the owner when he saw a child crying? Did he calm down? Did he apologize? Did he show even basic human decency? No. He kept yelling and demanding we leave. Rome is one of the most welcoming cities in the world and during our entire trip we met wonderful, kind people everywhere. This place was the only exception. If you are a tourist or a family with children, do yourself a favor and choose literally any other café in Trastevere. There are hundreds of them. Hospitality clearly isn't practiced here.

I was disappointed with the bread and cookies we purchased. It's difficult to do everything well. Perhaps narrowing on one specialty is best, but I'm old school. I miss the days of the fruit store, the formaggi shop, the wine merchant, etc. Everyone was lovely at Il Gianfornaio, and reminded me of how my American education was lacking. I can only speak English and a smattering of French. The merchants at Il Gianfornaio spoke English better than me. That was embarrassing.
