I'm fairly local and have been here several times. What sets this winery apart from many others in the Hudson Valley are the beautiful grounds that are available to picnic on. We had a group of six, and did a tasting. We followed that by purchasing a few bottles of wine and enjoying a picnic with food we brought. Nice day overall. Only negative is if you do a Yelp "Check In" it says there is a $10 off wine purchase coupon. They told me they aren't part of Yelp anymore and wouldn't honor it. read more

Plumped for the reserve tasting ($27.50) on Columbus Day weekend Sunday when the place was packed and there was a long wait for the basic tasting. We started with their Dry Riesling, which was a good all purpose white wine. Went with a bottle of that. Next were two Friulianos, only one of which made it to oak. I liked that one better and also bought a bottle. Finished the whites with their reserve Chardonnay, which was fine, but not a $35 at the vineyard wine, IMHO. Next up was a Cabernet Franc, which did not blow me away. We were then presented with the best wine of the day, a glorious Pinot Noir from the Williams Selyem winery in California which the Millbrook owners purchased from the founders. I later bought a bottle ($52) from the small rack of WS wines. The host actually suggested that a different one was even better, but I decided to stick with what I had tasted. I believe we finished with the Millbrook's own Pinot, but I preferred the Williams. The olive oil and bread only made their appearance at the end-maybe they would have worked better as a palate cleanser between the whites and reds. I received the Yelp discount on my three bottle purchase, so Steven E. you should complain. There is a $75 minimum. Thought the tasting was a little pricey at $27.50, although I hear the California places are charging big bucks these days. Paid 25 euros for a tasting in Tuscany this summer, and I think that the wines at Millbrook were just as good overall. The wine glass you take home is excellent. Note that the vineyard tour is free, so you don't get a special tour with the reserve tasting. Skipped that and took a self-guided walk through the vineyards, The views are lovely. P.S. I thought the host was excellent, but feel that he should have stayed home with that cough. Parking lot is small and I think buses should be banished. read more

Decided to come here and check it out as a potential for a wedding reception venue, and decided to do some wine tasting while we were there. We chose not to book here due to the amount of decorating that would be required, but the manager who showed us around was super friendly and helpful. The wine they make is quite delicious. I was very impressed by their Cabernet Franc, and I also really enjoyed their Reserve Chardonnay - I don't tend to like Chardonnay so it was a nice change, because it is half oaked and half un-oaked. I liked the little bit of oakiness but it wasn't overpowering. My fiance really like their Hunter Red, which was very fruit forward - think strawberries. Since we went on December 26th (and I guess they weren't very busy) they waived the $10 tasting fee for everyone! We were so excited - and we left with 2 great bottles of wine and our tasting glasses. They also let us try their olive oil with bread (one of my favorite things to eat) and their wine cookies - a yummy, kinda spicy shortbread cookie. It was different but tasty. Went here with friends on a Saturday afternoon. I was so excited to try my my very first wine tasting. I tried to control my excitement and not look like a geek. It was really fun! They gave us a complimentary tour of the winery, and for 10 bucks we got to try a good variety of wine. My favorite was the Tuca Friulano. If you're going upstate, I would recommend you stop by here for an hour of wine tasting. It's a beautiful drive. read more

Millbrook Vineyards has it down pat - they give you a great tour that is just the perfect length so you don't get restless making you feel like an alcoholic from wanting that drop of godlike red elixer. The wine here is phenomenal - I typically don't like Chardonays, but wow, this is so smooth, buttery and refreshing. The price as well; you can't beat it for 2-3 full glasses of wine and get to keep the glass??? FUN FACT - the owner/founder is the guy who created the "I Heart NYC" campaign! read more

Let me begin by saying that I am sure this Vineyard is 5 star during the warmer months. However... I visited in December and it was a solid 4 stars. Upon arrival, we noticed heavy construction in the front of the vineyard. We were not sure where to enter. We also caught a construction man peeing in the bush. It was a rough start. Then we entered, we were greeted and paid for our 6 wine tasting. It was about 11 bucks per person for the basic testing. The host, Chris was super sweet and knowledgeable. He even threw in an extra wine to sample. We joked, drank, joked and laughed, drank and finally walk away with two very delicious wines. Maybe you don't describe wine as delicious but I do! I say... Go for it! It was fun and there is another vineyard just down the road that is open during the warmer seasons. read more

Beautiful vineyard and great deal. $11.50 for a tasting of 6 wines, tour of the grounds, and free wine glass. The wine glass is very nice with the I Heart NY logo on one side and Millbrook winery with the year on the other side. The 6 wines we tried were all delicious. They had 3 different chardonnays, a pinot noir, zinfandel, and country red for us to sample. Tim was our bartender. He was very knowledgeable about the different wines explaining first how to properly sample the wine, where they came from, what we were tasting, and recommendations for foods to pair them with. They rotate the wines sampled by season. Next we had a tour of the grounds with Tom who has been working there for 12 years. Brought us around outside and into the wine making rooms. Since it was a December visit, we didn't spend much time outside since it's off season. I was told July and August are the best months to actually see the grapes! We learned a lot on the tour and even got another taste of one of the wines from a couple who had bought a bottle to drink on the tour. There is also a banquet room that can be rented out for occasions. Overall a great time and fun way to spend the afternoon. read more

My fiancée and I came down from Albany to visit here since I heard it was a beautiful vineyard and the tour and tastings were cheap and we loved it! The vineyard is beautiful and you can walk all around the grounds, which is fun and makes for great pictures. The tour was short, but informative and our guide was fun. We got to taste 6 different wines (and then one extra they were getting rid of) and you get to keep the glass, which is great. It's a great deal for only $10 a person and I would definitely return if I was in the area again! read more

Visited here this past weekend and really enjoyed it. This was my first winery so I really had nothing to compare it to. The property is beautiful, and you can see a neat castle from a distance.We did the wine tasting & tour which for $11, I thought was more than reasonable. You even get a souvenir New York wine glass. During the tour, we learned about the process of making wine and how it differs depending on the type. One lady on our tour was extremely annoying and asked a million never ending questions. Seriously wouldn't be surprised if she was taking notes, but we weren't the only ones annoyed with her. We went upstairs for the tasting after where we sampled 6 different wines(3 red & 3 white). I can't say I didn't like any of them, they were all great! I would recommend doing the tour & tasting if you're visiting. There is a little outdoor cafe/grill if you want to grab something to eat. They also have live musical acts on weekends in the summer. read more

Went here for a girls trip with 7 friends this past weekend. We did the tour and tasting and had Jean as our tour guide. She was awesome- really set the tone for the rest of our stay there. The wines are delicious- and you get a good mix of white and red with the tasting. The olive oil is also very delicious. It is in the middle of nowhere so I recommend getting a car service (we did) and it was definitely worth it. Nice area of snacks- cheese, crackers, cookies, etc to buy as well if you're staying to drink some wine you bought. We didn't try the area for lunch but next time I would. They don't serve food there peers but they had food trucks there last night and 6 dollar tap wine and canned beer available also. Gorgeous tasting rooms. They had music on the deck where you overlook the pond and the vine dense hillsides each row labeled with the variety of grapes growing there. Love the place. We'll be back. read more

This is for the "Chili Weather" event only. The winery and wine are good and not included in this coverage. We were lucky the"tap" wines weren't working so we had more selection. Ordered the chili of course. Next table sent it back too cold. They rewarmed ours too but still just warm.. Taste homemade but nothing special. No napkins, bread, or crackers. Paper bowl plastic spoon. Room was warm and clean, view great, but felt like we were in a lodge waiting to ski. No music. If you go, bring friends to entertain you. read more

The drive up from NYC was easy but beware if you take the Taconic (the road winds and there are deer so be careful). Anyway really scenic drive. Probably lovely when the leaves start changing. We visited a Sunday in early September. The grounds are so beautiful. The vines are full of tiny red and green grapes, there are picnic tables on the lake, and you can hike up the hill to Wing Castle (which you can pay $10 to visit). They have a grill and you can buy wine by the glass (or a bottle inside). We packed our own food so can't tell you if the food is any good. Sorry. But this place is out of the way, so if you come for the day, def bring food! The wine tasting is $10 or $25 depending on how fancy you want your wines. We did the $10 tasting and it was fine. I didn't like any of the wines that much but you get to try 5. A "tour" is included no matter which one you choose. You go out to the vineyards for like 5 min. and then back inside to see the chambers and all that. The tour was organized. Everyone that worked there was nice. The tasting was organized as well. And we were a large group and didn't get packed into a tiny space so that was good. They give you 1 tasting of olive oil after the wines too. You get to dip a small piece of bread. Then you get to try 1 of each kind of their wine crackers at the end too. Oh, and free parking. Overall, it's a nice place to visit and super pretty to spend the day at. But if you're a wine snob, bring your own. read more

Good wine, adorable cafe, great views, super large vineyard. I really enjoyed the tour! Our tour guide was a culinary student that was super knowledgable about the wine making process, wine and food pairings, etc. She was super helpful also. The basic wine tasting, which is $10, comes with tastings for 6; I think there was 3 white and 3 red. I ended up getting one bottle of white and one of red. Only downside is that theres a plethora of wine they make that is not available for tasting or by the glass. I got one of those anyways! It will be something to try later! Beautiful area to come spend an afternoon. Small ponds, mountains, grassy areas to sit and plenty of picnic tables. I'll definitely be back! Most of the wines in the Hudson valley region are not impressive but it is definitely worth the trip to visit the wineries especially on a gorgeous day. Especially Millbrook. I visited in September and was fortunate enough to pack a Picnic and hike up to the top of the vineyard and enjoy wine, food brought by us and a beautiful sunset. I came here during the fall for a winery tour for my birthday with friends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our tour guide was absolutely hilarious! She described things in a way that made it easy to understand. I wish I could remember her name. But the best part was the wine tasting. I learned a lot about which wines I like more than others and found out my tastes are changing. The grounds were breathtaking as well. I would return in a heartbeat. read more

I've been here a few times and plan to return again once it gets warmer. Millbrook Vineyards is one of my favorite places. It's absolutely so beautiful, especially in the fall months. The addition they added was perfect. Not to overdone...just right and adds a little more seating in those chilly months. The tastings are always incredibly informative and the tour they give is great too. Last time we were there we joined their PSR club. They deliver 2 bottles of wine every month! I had a bit of an issue with the shipping, but they were able to fix it very quickly for me and since then I have had no issues. I just ordered a case of wine through them today and it was the easiest transaction! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and everything is so clean and well put together. I have even been there for one of their busiest days of the year (the harvest party). There are people everywhere, but we still managed to get a full attention at our tasting and the service wasn't hindered a bit...even with how incredibly busy it was. It was PACKED! I would recommend this place 1000%. It's a beautiful drive from Connecticut. Very scenic. read more

Amazing place! When you pull into this winery, it looks like you are somewhere in Tuscany! The staff is so friendly and knowledgable. We did the wine tasting, which includes 6 wines as well as fresh bread and homemade olive oil while you sample. The cost is $11.50, which also includes a tour of the vineyard and barn area to see how the wine is made! Really interesting! The grounds are simply beautiful, and include picnic tables if you wanted to sit and eat while sipping a bottle or two. This place was horrendous. Unfortunately, I made plans to take my girlfriend here over her birthday weekend. After a lengthy drive, we bought wine tasting tickets and went to the main bar. After waiting for 15 minutes to be served, I politely asked the bartender Bruce (per his name tag) if we could start our wine tasting. He ignored me, but another lady rudely told me to be patient. After another 10 minutes of waiting, he had served the other 5 twosomes doing tasting at least twice since we had arrived. By this point, other people at the bar were trying to direct his attention to us. He somehow managed to serve them without hearing their suggestions. After 25 minutes of waiting, we requested a refund and left. I have had plenty of experience with lengthy waits at bars and can completely understand if a bartender has a lot of people to serve. That was not the case here. I'm not sure if Bruce's actions were motivated by racism, but I will never step for in this place to find out. If you see other reviews describing the awful service here, believe it. Hands down the worst service I've experienced anywhere. read more

Let me start by saying this vineyard deserves 5 stars. The location is gorgeous, the wines are delicious and the olive oil is the best I've ever tasted. We were greeted by Victoria when we arrived. Victoria was great. She was funny, welcoming and appeared to enjoy her job. When we approached the tasting table, we encountered TG. (I choose not use his full name so that customers can form their own opinion but let the manager know who I am referring to) TG did not appear to like his job. He did not appear to like people in general. He had a tendency to answer customers questions in a way that made them feel foolish for asking them. Now, I'm not talking about just one instance. We witnessed it happen 3 times in the 90 minutes we were at the vineyard. He also, audibly, muttered his frustrations with his job under his breath. Now, if TG was the only vineyard representative we came in to contact with, this vineyard would have received a 1 star and we would not have made over 200 dollars in purchases. Now for the saving grace, Jean. Jean was remarkable. She took over for TG and saved the tasting and the whole experience. Jean was very witty, knowledgable and personable. When Jean spoke, we could tell she loved her job and was passionate about the wines she was pouring. Jean and Victoria are the reason we will be returning to Millbrook Vineyard. I will, however, make it a point to call ahead to find out what tastings TG will be running as I hope to never interact with him again. read more

Beautiful setting. Tour and tasting were about $10pp and included tasting of about 6 wines. They also passed around excellent olive oil and crackers at the end to taste, all of which were of course for sale on site. They have a nice outdoor seating area overlooking the vines where you can enjoy a glass or bottle after the tasting (or fall asleep for a few minutes lying in the grass as we did). We liked a couple of bottles enough to take home, and even though it's standard at this point, i'm always excited when I hear that we can take home our tasting glasses as well. read more

Good wine + nice lunch + spectacular views = Milbrooke Vineyards The only thing that I didn't like was the weather. It was cold and rainy... and I was in a flowery sundress freezing my ass off! We started off with a glass of wine (I opted for the rose) and Bruce, our tour guide, gave us a tour of the place. We learned how wines were made. He was very knowledgeable, yet funny at the same time. Then we proceeded upstairs for the best part, wine tasting! We tasted 2 reds and 4 whites. I was really looking forward to trying their Riesling, but it was sadly not on the tasting menu. After that, we went outdoors where they had set up a big tents and a lovely lunch buffet. I really liked the cheeseburger, it was extremely tender... I heard that there was the winery dog, Carmelia. Too bad we didn't see her this time but I hope to see her next time. We took home the wine glasses as souvenirs. You could also buy the wines that you had tried, as well as a bunch of other things in the store. read more

Our favorite time of year at Millbrook is the jazz series during summer! Get there early to claim your spot close to the band! Try the Pinot, but certainly manage your expectations with the food choices. I really enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich and cheese tray, but if you arrive to late, options are limited. The only bad thing is they seem to have gotten more commercialized in the past 5 years or so...the wine is still good and competitively priced, but the accessories they sell are 3x what they are at neighboring vineyards who are less well-known. We stopped here yesterday after doing the Rhinebeck Antiques Fair and the Mills Mansion in Staatsburg. It's a very nice place set up on a hill overlooking the vineyards. We did a tour and tasting for about $11.00 which included a wine glass when you are finished. The wines are average not fantastic and in my opinion a but pricey but I understand this is a small operation and they have to charge more. We were giving a tasting sheet with notes and also the price of each bottle. After the tour we went back to the sales room to purchase a few bottles but found the prices down there higher than what was quoted on the sheet. That made us feel a bit put off. We did not purchase any wine. The tasting note and price sheet should have been updated to reflect the price increase. read more
