I have nothing but great things to say about Concordia Village in Springfield. My grandparents…read morehave been through all levels of care from a 2-bedroom, independent apartment through the acute care center. The facilities are immaculate and the staff caring, friendly, and extremely competent. When my grandparents first moved in, my grandfather was just beginning to have his health failing, so they moved into a two bedroom apartment. They were extremely hesitant about moving into a senior care center such as this, having had very bad experiences in the past with you typical stereotype "Nursing Homes" in the 70s and 80s. However, we had really high hopes that conditions have improved. BOY HAVE THEY! Both of my grandparents really enjoyed the social activities, scheduled outings, movies and cultural programs, and even athletic programs such as aerobics and WII bowling. They also rave about the food. The chef and all of the dining staff, as well as the building staff in general are great. They really take an interest in the residents and treat them like family. They also have shuttle services to take the residents to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, and even occasional shows and outings. If I need a live in care center at that age, I will be happy if it is close to as great as Concordia.

For the first 10 years, they could not have been more satisfied. In 2019 a consistent number of personal and physical setbacks altered their situation and their needs. While upholding the policies of Concordia as far as moving from one level of care to another, they moved into assisted living for a short time. Just a few months into their move to assisted living, Dad's decline accelerated to the point of needing long term care. The staff were compassionate, attentive and supportive. Both Mom and Dad felt loved. is Concordia perfect? No. Where is?

Although Mother was in the Independent Living section, she was still cared for by staff - on a few occasions, they noticed changes in Mom's behavior and contacted us. This was life saving. We were so impressed with the staff - they were attentive, patient, helpful and most of all, kind. We had 100% confidence that Mother was in a safe, welcoming environment Most importantly, Mom was so happy there. She enjoyed the food, loved her apartment, and appreciated all of the activities and the many amenities such as the hair salon, exercise room/classes, church services and shuttle. And the wonderful residents were so warm and friendly. Mom developed many cherished friendships over the years. We felt so fortunate to have Mom living in such a fine facility that was actually affordable for the average person. We would again highly recommend that you check out The Windsor of Savoy if you're looking for Independent or Assisted Living arrangements.

Proctor Place Senior Living

My Grandmother opted into 'the Proctor Home' of her own volition about 6 years ago. Just after her…read more88th birthday after enduring the beginnings of a really brutal mid-western winter in the house she and my Grandfather owned for years and years. This place in seriously an A1 facility, so much so I say add another damn star! You walk in and it looks like the lobby of a 4 star hotel. Staff is really nice and really caring. The worst thing I can say about this place is in the words of another lady who lives there. "the food sucks, and the pudding is worse". She is correct on both accounts. The coolest thing I can say about small town living, and this place is that my lovely 95 year old Grandma is so happy there. Her apartment is really pretty tho filled to the brim with bricka-brack. She asked me to join her for dinner so I could meet some of her friends how could I refuse her? What I didn't realise was that she meant her friends from childhood. I sat at dinner with Aberdean, my grandmothers best friend from the 7th grade. They were 12! and back together after literally 80+ years. Boggles my mind... Proctor, tho nobody wants to be, or wants their loved ones to be in a home of any kind, is really a place where the widowed can live in the company of people they have known most of their lives. Imagine the comfort of that in a world taht has so drastically changed over the long courses of their lives. Frankly, I was really impressed by this place. The whole place is spotless. Nobody is neglected and everyone is so nice. My Grandmother is apparently referred to by the staff as 'the rowdy'. She likes to dance even tho she has terrible knees and a walker, she gets the others up and moving too. They are all grateful for her, and I am grateful for them. Proctor is ok by me. But the food does have to change. They're getting a new food service this month. If it gets better I'll let you know, as I'm sure that will be the burning question on all of your minds in the near future.
