I stopped in here for Cincy burger week and ordered the Fiesta Burger along with onion rings and a boozy milkshake. The boozy shake was the Cookies & Bourbon Cream and it was so good! The shake had vodka, Buffalo Trace bourbon cream, Oreos, and whipped cream and I would definitely order it again. The burger was delicious as well, the kind of burger I like with lacy crispy edges. There were Fritos on the burger as well giving some crunch. The onion rings were nicely breaded and crispy with a cowboy ranch dipping sauce on the side. The gal that waited on us at the counter didn't seem to friendly or forthcoming with details about the special for burger week so that was kind of a bummer as that was the first person we saw but everyone else who came along and picked up our trays from our table were really nice. Milkman promises three things: Juicy Burgers, Boozy Shakes, and Fast Service. It delivers on everything it promises. Their food straddles the line between casual and gourmet burgers. It does not fall for the millennial burger joint stereotype. The burgers are seared and smashed and well topped. My only point of critique is that they could go a little further on seasoning. Their burgers are juicy and if any seasoning is used, it is lost in the mix. Of course, the boozy milkshakes are quite the draw. Its hard to make anything with alcohol in it taste as good as it's non-alcoholic counterpart. Milkman strives for it, but does fall short. The Bourbon mixes well, but vodka is still very noticeable in their recipes. Just a tweak of the recipe, and it could be perfect. Service is fast, especially for a sit-down. From order to table was less than five minutes. It is in OTR and it's right next to Washington Park. You're going to pay the OTR premium, I'm afraid. In summation, Milkman isn't perfect, but it does what it wants well, and it delivers on everything it promises to do. Always on the quest for a good hamburger I decided to try this place out as I have heard good things. The hype is real! The aesthetics of this place are quite welcoming and also nostalgic to a 50's style diner. It also is very clean and organized properly. All of the people that were working in this establishment were very happy to help out, constantly asking if we needed anything else and bustling about the dining room, keeping it in tiptop shape. Even though we arrived at peak lunch hour we were quickly served our delicious burgers. And now onto the good part; the hamburgers! They are absolutely fantastic in both texture and seasoning. This is the ultimate "smashburger". Even without any accoutrements, you could tell that the burgers themselves were extremely flavorful in all of the right ways. I think this place must just always have good business. We came in at 2 on a Saturday and there were lots of people. The vibe gives retro diner. The cashier was super nice and even went over the menu with us because he asked if it was our first time. I love ordering a kids meal because it's perfectly filling. I know some places don't allow adults to get the kids menu but they had no problem with it at all. The food came super quick and the fries are to die for. I opted to build my own burger and added bacon, onion, cheddar cheese, pickles, and better sauce. On the side an order and fries a cookies and cream bourbon shake accompanied it. The burger was good (nothing to rave too much about).. the fries were well seasoned and I enjoyed the "fry sauce" that came along with it. What really did it for me was the cookies and cream bourbon milkshake. It sounds like a stomach disaster lol but you only live once. You can really taste the mix of alcohol in the flavor of the milkshake, and truly it was the highlight of the entire meal. I haven't been to Cincinnati since maybe 2k23, but when I do return, I'll stop by again to try other items on the menu. Definitely a nice little spot to sit and eat. read more

Located in Over-the-Rhine, Milkman is an upscale lunch and dinner diner-style restaurant. They are on Race Street just south of Washington Park. Orders are placed at the counter. The menu features "juicy burgers," fried chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, nuggets, and boozy shakes. If you don't want a boozy shake, there are unalcoholic versions available as well, in addition to canned/bottled beer, soda, juice, etc. all available to grab yourself just before you place your order. The food is cooked to order but comes out really fast! I was happy to see that they have fried chicken sandwiches on the menu since I don't eat burgers. The club with swiss, bacon, shredded lettuce, tomato, and garlic herb mayo ($11.99) was really good. The thicken was thick and juicy and the sauce was great. The buffalo and damn hot chicken sandwiches are also very good. It's hard to go wrong. As far as boozy shakes go, I recommend the Grasshopper with bourbon, creme de menthe, chocolate chips, and whipped cream ($12.99). However, I think it is hard to go wrong with any of their choices. My only complaint is that prices are a little high since the sandwiches do not come with a side dish, but I recommend sharing the order of fries or onion rings anyway, making the prices not too bad. My heart flutters when I think about how delicious it is. I'd truly pay $1000 to understand how they make their burgers so I can recreate it when I move away. Came here during Blink (we were visiting from NYC) on a whim and in the words of my husband, "Wow -- it's like Johnny Rockets if it was actually GOOD." One of the more solid burger joints I've been to anywhere! The restaurant itself has a modernized '50s diner feel with lots of booth seating and servers are great at finding you wherever you end up. The burgers are smash burgers but unlike most I've had, they are not burned to a crisp and are juicy and perfectly cooked. Chicken nugs are a total standout, each is a chunk of real white meat chicken with a minimal crunchy breading and well seasoned. Sauces are great -- the herb mayo was a fave, actually very herby! Even the side salad is kinda the platonic ideal of one. Onion rings and fries honestly the only meh offerings (and only reason I gave Milkman 4 stars vs 5!). Milkman is a staple of OTR and I am shocked that this was the first time I had ever gone there. The inside old time diner theme was on par and the decor inside was interesting to look at but didn't draw too much attention away from the food. There was a decent sized menu that you can order for there or to go. Unfortunately, I was unable to sit and dine but rather got my meal to go. I ordered a burger deluxe single and a side of fries. They had milkshakes (boozy and non) as well which i definitely want to go back and try at a later date. While the burger fell flat for my tasting, the fries and special fry sauce were great. I was a big fan of how fast the service was and the many working the front counter was extremely helpful when i stated it was my first time there. My wife and I stopped in here before seeing a show at the Shakespeare Theatre Company. I don't usually pay too much mind to décor, but the 1950's diner vibes are quite fun. I'm a sucker for a good burger as well as a fried chicken sandwich, so we decided to order one of each and split them. We got the Deluxe Burger and the Damn Hot Chicken Sandwich, and added a side of fries and onion rings. We split each sandwich and shared the sides. Though I am a burger person (made entirely of 100% grass-fed beef), I wasn't blown away by the Deluxe. It was good, but nothing to sing "Hey All You People" about. The Damn Hot was another story. Crispy, spicy chicken sandwich covered with a delicious slaw and surprisingly tasty pickles (I'm not a pickle guy, generally). The fries were good, hot and well-seasoned, and the fry sauce was good. I do think the onion rings and cowboy ranch were better, and would be difficult to resist ordering in the future; they were that good. We decided we couldn't leave without getting a Boozy Shake, and opted for the Homer Simpson, which was not served inside a pink-frosted donut as anticipated, but was a strong bourbon/kahlua peanut butter chocolate shake that was absolutely delicious. $13 for the milkshake did seem steep, but for 16 ounces of ice cream, chocolate, and liquor, it's not actually that bad. read more

I loved that they had veggie friendly options to choose from and when I arrived, I discovered the cutest restaurant with a total old-school vintage vibe from floor to ceiling. They clearly have a theme and I was into it. I ordered a "fried tofu" chicken sandwich. Fun fact, I hear they use CinSoy products for their vegetarian options. Oh, and I also got some fries. The fries were good and I liked the dipping sauce. My sandwich wasn't bad but it could've been better if the size of the tofu wasn't as thick. Solid spot to come grab a weekday lunch!! I've been meaning to make it out to Milkman since it opened - and finally got the opportunity. A friend and I arrived about 30 minutes after they opened on a Monday morning - just before their lunch rush picked up. I went with their "Spicy" burger - and liked it a lot! The meat itself was cooked well - I love a smashburger with a nice crust. The pepper jack cheese and jalapenos were a nice touch - and gave the burger just enough heat without being overwhelming. The bacon inside was thin and extra crispy. While the burger slapped - the fries were actually my favorite part of this lunch! Cooked and seasoned perfectly, they're served with a tasty dipping sauce that I won't soon forget. I also appreciate the portion size of the fries - you're definitely getting your money's worth.
