I really enjoyed my experience at this place! It was my first time trying rolled ice cream and it was very good. There were a lot of options for ice creams and beverages, also the girls working there were very kind and patient. The place seemed very clean and it was in a good location next to a lot of stores.
Hey Yelp fam! This is a good yet sad review--but not for the reason you're probably thinking. While in Durham (as I shared in a previous post), we stopped by a food hall after an event, and inside we found Milk Lab. I'm usually not big on trying different teas or specialty drinks, but on this particular day my sister recommended it--and I figured, what the heck, let's give it a try. I honestly don't even remember exactly what we ordered or whether it had milk in it, but what I do remember is that it was so good. The barista was amazing--super knowledgeable, explained the drink list, and even helped us decide when we couldn't choose between two options. The drink we got was one of their recommendations, and it did not disappoint. IT WAS SO GOOD! Now here's the sad part As I was walking to the table to sit down, the drink somehow tipped over and spilled. Y'all... I don't even know what happened, but I was HEARTBROKEN. I didn't get to finish it, but from the few sips I did get, I would absolutely order it again. I'm just glad I at least managed to get a picture before the tragedy.
Drinks here are really good and refreshing but their boba lacked in flavor I wish it had more of a honey taste to them. The service here was okay, it took them a while to make our drinks even though there was 4-5 people behind the counter.
The service is wonderful but the drinks taste mainly like milk with a twinge of tea flavor. I had the oolong milk tea and do not recommend this. This is the second time I have visited. Unfortunately, the drinks taste only okay because of the lack of tea in their drinks. It does have seating, so this may be a good place to study. However, their teas lack flavor.
Such a great boba shop! They have rolled ice cream, milk tea, and lots of toppings. My one comment is that I feel like the sweetness level in the drink is really varied from drink to drink- both me and my fiancé got the same percent sweetness, but his drink was significantly sweeter than mine. The drinks were delicious though and I would definitely go back.
This review is solely based on their ice cream. I came here to try their roll ice cream. When I walked in they have a order kiosk but I didn't use it since it wasn't busy. My order was place quickly but it took a little longer for them to find what they needed to make my ice cream. After my ice cream was finished I was told they are out of whipped cream. Ice cream wasn't firm at all and easily break a part even when he tried to scoop it inside the cup it lost its rolled shape. I didn't enjoy my ice cream at all and waste money. My ice cream ended up in the trash. I feel like this place can be more sanitized with their utensils they use to make the ice cream. Maybe their boba tea is great but the roll ice cream is a complete NO. I definitely wouldn't return here.
Milk Lab! Did not disappoint!!! This spot was super cute and super clean, inside smelt fresh and sweet which felt very appetizing when walking in. The menu is big and also simple! Super easy to read and if you needed any clarification the employees were sweet and helpful! I of course am a one trick pony when it comes to boba so I always get a jasmine greet tea with the brown sugar boba! The employee was very sweet and allowed me to no troubles subtract milk! Awesome! I even visited the bathroom and it was CLEAN! Yipee love to see a clean restroom. Especially for the middle of the day! The tea though most importantly tasted great! Light sweetness, not bitter yet not overpowering at all! Very delicious and very fresh! Just what I needed for a hot day in NC! The boba itself had a great coated of syrup that was neither gritty nor lackluster in flavor. Tasted very good and a little bit tinier than most boba I've had but no issues there it was still delicious! I highly recommend this spot for some awesome boba!! keep up the great flavors! Will come back!
AMAZING! I honestly was not expecting to love this place as much as I do when I first tried it today. I tried all three of these flavors and the matcha strawberry latte with almond milk and strawberry jelly was my favorite! I love that there is no up-charge for the amount of ice or for the use of non dairy. The add ins are a 75 cent fee but they give a great amount!! which i loved, plenty of boba and jellies! Service was also very pleasant and were patient on making sure we ordered the best drinks! Its located in south-point mall which is perfect after a long day of shopping !
Milk Lab is a really good place to satisfy my boba cravings! It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking, and they have an online ordering option. I got their brown sugar milk tea. It was ready really quickly, faster than the initial time estimate I was given, which was very nice. The store itself is spacious and clean, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I think that for boba, I make distinctions between a good drink and a good tea. A good drink just has to be harmonious, but a good tea means I am judging the flavor of the brewed tea itself. With that being said, I think my brown sugar milk tea was a fantastic boba shop drink. It was creamy and had that nice caramelized flavor from the brown sugar, without any odd aftertaste. However, I think the brown sugar overpowered the tea in this drink. I got this drink at a reduced sweetness but I still couldn't really taste the tea. I think that does tend to be the case with brown sugar drinks though, so I may opt for a non brown-sugar drink next time I am here. All in all I enjoyed this drink even without a super strong tea flavor, so I am still looking forward to my next trip here.
first time coming to here and the bubble tea did not disappoint! they were out of matcha unfortunately but settled for the strawberry dalgona. it's espresso with strawberry which was an interesting yet tasty combo. staff were friendly and the place itself was open and welcoming.
Yummy rolled ice cream - my son had the Cookie Monster. He enjoyed watching them roll the ice cream. He loved all the cookie toppings and the whipped cream.
Satisfied my boba cravings at Milk Lab, which is one of my favorite boba spots in Durham! Here is what we got: Strawberry Cap with passion fruit jelly ($6.45) - aesthetic and refreshing Mango Fruit Tea with lychee jelly ($4.95) - tastes like a mango slushee Love how they serve both boba and rolled ice cream!! But of course, boba wins any day.
This place very chic when you walk in, a feeling like a lounge...dark colors and cute tables. I was excited to order ice cream. I was a little overwhelmed with all the toppings so o took a shortcut and did the recommended toppings! This was a great idea bc I didn't have to think and I enjoying watch them make it. I ordered the Rainbow Road, a little sweet but loved the fruity peoples:) By far my favorite was the Choccolify...I substituted the chocolate pocky for banana which really gave a fabulous after taste and added Cinnamon Toast Crunch bc they didn't have the chocolate wafer. The crunch gave it a churro taste which was to die for. I had to take it to go, they put them in this cute black bag and it held perfect when I got home. Next time I want to try the floats or drinks. I truly enjoyed this cool treat. read more

I came here for a quick bite before heading to the mall. I ordered the choco chocolate rolled ice cream. The staff expertly rolled the ice cream and then added the toppings. It was a great surprise to hear that we could add unlimited different toppings. I added Oreo, strawberry, roasted marshmallow, and strawberry/banana pocky sticks. The chocolate ice cream with Oreos were a great combination!! I would recommend this for chocolate lovers. read more
Lovely second location for milk lab! I've been here a few times already and the drinks hold up. So far i've gotten the thai, oolong, and normal black milk tea. The quality of the boba here is excellent, and is always a good balance between not sweet and too sweet. The tea flavor is also excellent. I still feel like the tea to milk ratio here is a bit off, hence the 4 stars. But still ! a great place to get boba and I love this second location. The place itself is super cute. Love how you can study in the back and socialize in the front. Service is super friendly and fast which is always a plus. Catch me back here super soon. read more

BEYOND excited to have a Milk Lab close to me! The quality of their matcha is seriously the richest. I highly recommend this place for any boba or rolled ice cravings! Also, they have plugs everywhere so great for a study/work spot! read more

Refreshingly good. I love the combination of the espresso and Oreo! Parking: There are ample slots available. Staff: I don't know why asking for ice was a bit hard in this branch. I needed ice since my drink wasn't that cold. The staff was hesitant and even asked his co-worker if that's possible. I needed to show my drink before they finally gave me. We love the rolled ice cream and the bubble tea here! We are frequent customers. Seems like they recently increased their rolled ice cream price to $8.50. That's a steep price for rolled ice cream! Even though it's great ice cream, but you can find better ice cream for a cheaper price in Durham. Not sure I'd be coming back as often for their rolled ice cream. read more

Milk lab is amazing! I highly recommend the brown sugar milk tea with boba. It's a perfect balance of sweet, milky, chewy and refreshing. Tons of other good options with so many rolled ice cream and topping options. Also this is a very cute location, the aesthetic is very Instagram friendly. read more

I ordered a Thai milk cap tea and omg I loved it. Service was a b it slow because it was crowded but I will be back. It was good fresh mini boba the perfect t amount of seeet tea and the most wonderful frothy milk cap that was just a bit salted. That milk cap is so worth it. Move over weekly Starbucks budget, I'm switching to milklab. read more

Sheesh! The menu is amazing, I don't even know where to begin. They were super busy when I arrived, so I thought to myself: "this place must be yummy!" I was greeted by gorgeous black white and gold decor. Their decor and branding is on point! The staff was super friendly. Despite being busy, they got everyone in and out without having to wait forever. I placed my order, and it was ready within 5 minutes or less. I had the cookie monster rolled ice cream which included unlimited toppings. They don't just have sprinkles or other basic toppings, they have PREMIUM toppings and man, were they delicious!!! I can't say enough how impressed I was....and how delicious this place is, I can't wait to return. read more
Nice drink! Not too overly sweet, not too much ice. It was done just right. Staffs were nice too. Only one thing to say was their grass jelly were little too tough to come out from straw. But still good and definitely will be coming back! read more

I was in the area waiting on my daughter to finish up an appointment and saw this place. I ordered the rolled ice cream and it was pretty good. It was the campfire styled rolled ice cream but subbed with vanilla ice cream and caramel instead of chocolate syrup. I should've asked for extra caramel because it was barely enough to taste. The toasted marshmallow on top was a nice touch. I'll try their famous teas next time. read more

LOVE MILK LAB! Can't not say enough about how great this place is. The best bubble tea the area, and frankly the best I've ever had. You can't go wrong with any of the drinks, and they're always coming out with creative new items. They would deserve 6 stars for the drinks alone, but the rolled ice cream is also excellent. Their lychee ice cream really changed my idea of what fruit-flavored ice cream should taste like. So fresh and juicy but sweet and creamy at the same time. Recommendations: Sweet tooth - Thai milk tea, Hong Kong style milk tea Tea enthusiast - Brown sugar black tea, really anything Fruit lover - Rainbow fruit tea, Strawberry milk cap tea Misc - Lychee ice cream, Strawberry matcha latte, Strawberry fresh milk, Jasmine milk tea with taro pudding and/or egg pudding read more

The place is very very cute and the staffs are very friendly. They alone would get 5 stars for sure. However, I am just rating on the drinks and Tea's N Me rolled ice cream. The milk tea is just not the best flavor for my taste buds and I've been to both this and the Cary location. The rolled ice cream is super fun and the staff makes it very very beautiful for you with the toppings. FYI get the roasted marshmallow and the boba! It is just too sweet for me. That being said, the location is good with easy parking, I will probably revisit for meeting up with friends. read more

Drove into Durham from out of town, and had to get some boba while I could. Chose this place simply based on vicinity without any high hopes but was blown away! This is one of the top boba places that I've been to in North Carolina & California. Really enjoyed the brown sugar black milk tea and the Thai tea. Completely unrelated note to the quality of the drink, I also really like the cups. Will definitely be coming back if I am ever in town again. read more

So happy the best milk tea spot in the Triangle has expanded to Durham. I used to drive 30 minutes to Cary for Milk Lab. Quality of the drinks are on par with the best of the best from Cali and NY. Diverse roster of drinks as well. Recently tried the fresh banana milk and it was delicious. Their ice cream is also top notch. read more

Great boba, cool aesthetic, quick service, friendly staff-- I'm so glad that Milk Lab has expanded to this Durham location! Milk Lab is a local boba phenomenon serving up delicious, naturally flavored milk teas and rolled ice creams. Their teas use all natural flavors, no powder flavors, and toppings span an array of boba, pudding, and jelly options such as taro pudding and strawberry jelly. The rolled ice creams include uniquely Asian flavors and can be generously topped with fruits, cereals, candy, and cookies. Lest we forget, they also serve fresh flavored milks, which if you haven't tried before, are essentially sweetened, cooked fruit mixed in milk, like a grown up strawberry milk. I docked one star for way too sweet tea (I recommend 30% for pretty much all teas), and I'd also like more overt flavors in their teas. More matcha or more rose flavor, for example, would really elevate them above their competition in the Triangle. Recommend: strawberry milk tea, matcha milk tea with taro pudding, rose tea with grass jelly (all 30% sweetness if you don't want it too sweet) read more

Great place to grab bubble tea after getting dimsum or korean food nearby! I would recommend lowering the sweetness. I have a huge sweet tooth and usually get 100% but it was too sweet even for me. Not docking any stars because of the sweetness because that's easily controllable (you choose your sweetness level as with most places nowadays). Just docking one star because it's super expensive compared to other bubble tea places around and the tea was solidly 4-star quality. read more
