My Lutheran cousins in MN taught kids how to build houses--I know about the building trades. But i came to the DC area to be an NSA mathematician and i am not very handy--my 2 sons got background from high school and a college work program so that when they took my circular saw and said daddy let me to do it so you do not lose a finger i did not object. But i did quite a bit of plumbing and knew about sump pumps and installed one and got F H Furr to replace mine with a good one. My knees went when i was 65 and i was the an economist and could afford to not play plumber. Osmin looked at my hyper flooded basement and said i need a Restoration firm so we got on the phone and contacted TRi-state. Team one pumped the cellar out with a high powered pump and then used a specialized instrument (i cost $8-00). They had left the 2 parts in my back porch on my back porch and i did find it but they were in such a hurry to move to the next job. I am not a sweetheart like Laura P. I had 2 instrument set in my house but i told them they had to do something that would take one minute or i would not let house. They were so diligent in getting to the next job they balked the supervisor did something i could not do having to do with the next stage of clean up that they relented. The only non plumbing in the cellar worth anything was a Mountain bike my late wife had given me. So they pulled the bike out of the cellar and i gave them the instrument set. The only person i feared more than the wrath of God was my wife's wrath. (a Joke) Fear of the Lord is the wrath of my wife. She would consider the 3 folks who gave low reviews ignorant. I would agree--many low star reviews come from folks who are very ignorant. S.O. calling Tri State a horrible company is insulting to WSSC one of the best run regulatory agencies in the tri state area they actually use retired plumbers to do the inspections. I am helping my pastor of my church find a general contractor because of my knowledge. Enough said as i am practicing to be half as good a person as my sainted wife. The next stage where they clean out the cellar mess took 10 hours they bagged and removed about one ton of oxidized (the prior crew had rescued all my useful tools. They did not take a break for lunch but they went to a shopping center to call the central office to get permission to work the extra hours--the cellphone batteries had given out. The bags the team filled were picked up the next morning as promised. My first job at NSA i night as well have been in the military except i got paid more --these days with a professional military they are paid more than i was. I made 100K in real terms but my pension and special NSA medical plan are available only to Congress and staff. ONLY TRISTATE is competent to drain a swamp and they are as cost effective as when i did a study that projected the US economy our for 50 years. I've used Servpro twice in the past week due to a leak and another time when my roof leaked. I made…read morethe mistake of choosing Tri State for my most recent leak in the kitchen, and I deeply regret not hiring Servpro again. While moving my stove to pull up the flooring underneath, they damaged the oven door, causing it to come out of its socket and leaving an irreparable scratch on the stove. Instead of taking their time to properly move it they pulled the oven door to pull it out and caused damage. They had run the drying machines for two and a half days, and when they came to check the machines on the second day, I explained that the equipment kept moving around and wasn't staying in place. Unfortunately, they didn't change anything; in the past, Servpro had used something underneath their machines to prevent that issue, but Tri State brushed me off and didn't address it. When they returned to remove the machines, I noticed a strong odor that persisted for a few days. I called and emailed them, but it took almost a week for someone to return my call. When they finally did come back, they dismissed my concerns and pretended the smell didn't exist. However, two professional contractors who came in after that did notice it. I also saw pictures of them using a dirty mop that clearly wasn't new; they used it to barely wipe the floors underneath. Their only resolution was to charge me extra to return and put a fan in place. Meanwhile, they received a payment of $3,500 from my insurance for what amounted to very little effective work. I strongly advise against using Tri State. They are not focused on the customer and cannot be trusted to properly handle your damage.

I never had someone text me instructions about a potential home visit before but, as I'm desperate for repairs, I went with it despite my reluctance. I asked in the text to have the tech please share their license and credentials. I don't know these people. I just needed to know who I'm letting into my home. I received a call from a gentleman I assumed to be the owner or operator who took umbrage at me asking for the credentials of the tech, and proceeded to call it "weird" (that is the word he used) that I'd ask since, and I quote, "all we're doing is an estimate." I don't care if you were building the Ark of the Covenant divined by God himself, I am not letting someone in my home without knowing fully who they are. Call it paranoia, call it weird as that person did, but they can take that attitude and go the other way. I'll find someone else.

The customer service representative assured me that an air duct vacuum would be performed and even recommended a promotional package that supposedly included both vent and duct cleaning. However, when the technician arrived, he only cleaned the vents and did not perform the air duct vacuuming as promised. When I questioned this and called the supervisor, he informed me that I had purchased only the basic package, which does not include air duct cleaning--contradicting what the representative had told me. To make matters worse, I felt pressured to proceed and pay for the service because they insisted the technician was already at my home. This felt misleading, unethical and felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for honest and transparent service.
