This place is the heart of McCall and Payette Lake. The dock staff is incredibly friendly, their drinks are killer and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a pontoon rental, ski/surf boat rental or a nice meal on the water with great drinks and good vibes. They also have live music sometimes! The Marina is amazing, and I keep coming back every year for this reason - highly recommend. Don't let the negative reviews steer you, they are just upset and unhappy customers that couldn't find a better use of their time but to spread negative/untrue information. I have been around this crew for a few years now and they do an excellent job. Let's spread this positivity!! We come up to McCall every time we go to Boise, which is yearly. Mile High Marina has always been our favorite spot. We usually rent a pontoon boat and have cocktails at the bar afterward. TERRIBLE SERVICE... the old lady on the counter. We tried to rent ONE yet ski with my family, and they charged us twice. My family is mostly spanish speaking but understand english. We went through all the rules where i translated what she was saying to my family and at the very end, AFTER they charged us said they could no longer rent to us because we "didnt understand" what they are saying. I speak fluent English and spoke to her in English. They were RACIST and RUDE when i did talk to her and as i was translating. We rented a pontoon from Mile High Marina for 4 hours. We were caught in a strong rain storm with thunder near the north shore. I called the marina to see what we should do and was told we could continue or come back to the marina and the fees would be adjusted. Returning we in countered driving rain and thunder. By the time we reach the marina frozen and wet, and the weather had cleared over the marina. Though everything was throughly soaked from the storm at the marina. When we said that we had called in because of the storm and was told that we could come in early and they would talk to management for an adjustment, we were told the weather was fine and we could eat the 1.5 hour that was unused or go back out. We were drenched and cold the kids were completely done with the experience. But the old woman refused to make any adjustments despite what we were told. She said we could take the soaked and freezing group back out or eat the 1.5 left on the rental. Then she wanted a tip! It was a very sour experience. If you use them be very careful because what they say is not what they do. read more

Our third summer on the lake with our family, we had a great time! This year we opt for the two-day pontoon boat rental and it was so great to not be pressured for time! We took a sunset cruise and had a fun time tubing with the littles. Additionally we spent another day on the lake with jet skies - always a favorite. Staff is always pleasant and we've never had any troubles with any of the rentals. This year the weather was a little hit and miss, but we were able to check out wet-suits as needed for no additional charge. We'll be back next year! read more

I have rented pontoon boats from Mile High several times over the last 35 years. I guess it's now Mile High's business model to completely fleece vacationers. I just returned from a 4 hour rental, and the per hour price went from the reservation price of $100/hr to $115/hr PLUS gas! What should have cost $400 ended up costing almost $500, and, after charging me for the gas, they had the temerity to ask me to add a tip! No, thank you. If you're charging me nearly $125/hr for the privilege of renting your crappy boat, you can pay your own employees. This latest experience left a bad taste in my mouth and it will absolutely be the last time I do business with Mile High Marina. read more

When I called to reserve the jet ski the person on the phone told me 300$ for 4 hours. I received a email conformation that again said $300 plus taxes. I was fine with that. When I get to the counter at the time of my reservation, the amount went up $100. They said it was bc it was their holiday pricing. This was June 28th. No holiday to me?! So they cover their butt by stating on their website "prices are subject to change without notice" They do not state the dates in which their prices are higher. Nor did the conformation email match the price I reserved the jet ski for. Had I of known the "holiday price" I would of NOT booked a jet ski. They are WAY over priced in my opinion. read more

**Review for their rentals** A group of friends and I rented a kayak from here a few weeks back. The process was pretty straightforward and simple, as was the return on the kayak. It was in great condition and came with two life jackets, paddles, and whistles. For a 4 hour rental, we paid $45 - and we split that between 4 girls, so it came out to a little over $10 each. We rented them at probably 1 in the afternoon, so the 4 hour option was best, although if we were to do it again - I'd rent earlier in the day and get a full day rental (only $10 more)! My favorite part of the whole process though, was how simple it was to return it! All we had to do was lay the kayak on the grass and return the paddles to the actual shop - then they sent an employee to pick up the kayak. Easy peasy. I was so thankful we didn't have to figure out how to haul that heavy thing back to their shop - this allowed the whole experience to end on a relaxing note! read more

This "policy" is not anywhere on website, nor was it explained via email or over the phone. Been boating for 15+ years and never experienced this. Owner didn't care that it made no sense, just said it was his policy. Maybe he didn't like the way we looked? Anyhow, be aware as this made-up policy could seriously ruin someone's vacation. We rented wave runners at the advice of friends who had rented before. The reservation process was easy and we received a confirmation and a reminder a few days before. The check in process was quick (except for the required video) and everyone from the counter to the actual person who put us on the wave runners was friendly. The wave runners were in good condition and worked well the entire rental time. No complaints there. Then came the only surprise. The gas. I didn't read the fine print that gas was extra. With high gas prices and even higher prices because the pump was on the water, it added about $130.00 on top of our bill. Keep that in mind when you rent that gas is not included. Rented two wave runners and two paddle boards for our group last Friday. They said to arrive 15 minutes early for a "training video." Between the video, the second lecture from the front desk girls (who were very unpleasant) and the third lesson from the guy on the deck (who seemed inexperienced but lovely) it was 50 minutes into our four hour rental time. So we paid for four hours and got three hours and 10 minutes. Also, I'm guessing the training video is 20+ years old as "gloves, boots, and a wetsuit" were the recommended uniform. I was stressed and yelled at him about our crappy boat when he finally got me deescalated he explained the boat was not his and offered to come get us so we were not stranded. This is the place to rent from!!! We lucked out that they were the only place that had a pontoon avail for us. Thank heaven for such blessings! Price of a full day rental was $280. Fuel charge after playing on that thing was $25. I read the other review & was concerned about fuel charges...but I put more gas in my car after driving around nonstop all day!!! The service at this business from rentals, marina, to the grill is TOP NOTCH! We will never rent from anyone else. Oddly enough we had lunch at the grill & an employee of Cheap Thrills was sitting beside us having a drink & talking to his coworkers. His conversation was entirely negative and let's just say that he has zero appreciation for people renting from them. Clearly customers are "annoying" at best. A little pricey for the quality of burger that I had, but I heard that the fish tacos were outstanding so maybe that is where you get your bang for your buck. If only there was an option for negative stars, that's where I'd rate Mile High Marina. I called 5 days in advance and reserved 3 jet skis for our family. Jet skiing was on my bucket list, so I was excited to spend the weekend with my adult kids on the lake. We had family members who took off work, I rented a cabin, the jet skis were reserved all day Sunday. Katie at Mile High took my credit card, explained the 24 hours advance cancellation notice (on my part), and everything was fine until Sunday morning when a gal from Mile High called to confirm my reservation for 1 jet ski. I explained we had 6 people which is why I reserved 3 jet skis. She argued that she only had us down for one and I should have checked my email if there was a problem. I checked my email (they never sent any confirmation). I asked to talk to Katie. She finally allowed they could get us two skis, and later admitted she was aware my original reservation was for three. (This means the first girl was lying to me about my reservation being for only 1 ski). I was frustrated, but said we could maybe make 2 work (remember this was a bucket list item for me and we had time and money involved in this adventure already). Before we even get to the marina, Katie calls back and tells me she can only provide 1 jet ski as the rest are rented out and the ones she had "saved" for me were in the shop being repaired. It didn't matter that I had reserved them DAYS earlier, and she had no interest in making anything right, except to offer us the opportunity to rent those jet ski on Monday ( we all had jobs to get back to on Monday). So, don't rent from Mike High Marina if you really want to get your equipment for the day you placed a reservation. read more

My family and I decided not to bring our ski boat with us to McCall and instantly regretted it once we laid eyes on Payette Lake. To get our boating fix, we decided to rent a ski boat from one of the local places and spend a day out of the lake, and regret having chosen Mile High Marina for our boating needs. While the Marina and shop/cafe were adequately clean and presented well, our boat that they gave us was beyond ridiculous! Not only had it not been properly cleaned from the people before us, hence the massive amounts of food crumbs and sticky residue in the carpet and seats, the steering wheel was literally a sticky hot mess. Also, the transmission was a complete joke and would grind extremely loud/lurch the boat every time you wanted to start again from a complete stop. The trim buttons were extremely useless and had been almost completely shot from someone before us. The tube rentals that we added onto the boat came with a rope that put the tubes in the middle of the wake - making it completely not fun for anyone attempting to tube. We also rented a wake board and a set of skis that again, came with a rope that was insufficiently too short. And to top it all off, they charged an exorbitant rate for the boating fuel at $7 a gallon! (Literally our gas bill was almost as much as the boat rental itself - so keep this in mind when attempting to budget how much it is going to cost you). I would definitely not recommend Mile High Marina for any of your boating needs. Not only was their boating equipment extremely sub-par, you will pay the price in more way than one. read more

Excellent service and great equipment. The fam and I enjoyed a pontoon boat on Payette Lake for four days in July, and Mile High really took care of us. They were very straight forward about what we were getting, how much it would cost, and they walked us through all the safety procedures (especially for the teenagers) very carefully. The forecast was iffy at best, but they assured us that we could bring the boat back and our money would be reimbursed if it stormed the whole time. Luckily, the weather was great and we enjoyed the water every day. In the evenings, Mile High allowed us to park the boat in their marina while we enjoyed downtown McCall, and they even filled the gas tank for us when needed. I liked this place so much, I even bought a hoodie with their adorable retro logo on the back. Super cute. read more

They made an error and charged me two months later after authorizing my card in June 2020 then proceed to get defensive and put it back on me when I notice the charge. The excuse...we had too many to notify so we didn't tell anyone and we don't apologize we just get our money and don't care about service. Ignorant and arrogant Kelly needs a class on service and respect. Look at other reviews this is not the first and won't be the last horrible experience from the owner and her staff. When I attempted to clarify and ask questions she actually segued in to telling me and my family she couldn't accommodate a jet ski rental. She simply turned the business down, and the only person being treated poorly and with disrespect was me the customer. I don't know if we caught her on the wrong day, but unfortunately for me first impressions are EVERYTHING. I would never want to give my business to an establishment that could clearly care less if they acquire it. Thumbs down, ZERO STARS, and thank goodness this was before I handed over any money.
