Renting a snowmobile from these guys was AWESOME!! They were so kind and helped us in a pinch. My two girlfriends and I planned an Idaho hot springs road trip and when the other rental place called me two days before our rental to canceled I was so nervous we wouldn't get to have this experience. But CM Backcountry saved the day and got us two practically brand new snowmobiles for our trip to Burgdorf Hot Springs. I'm so glad I ended up working with this company instead of their competitor. They provided all the snow equipment: jackets, pants, shoes, gloves, helmet. Non of us have ever driven a snowmobile before too and they showed us and sent us on our way with a breeze! I highly recommending working with this great company!! They will take really great care of you and their equipment was in excellent condition, felt clean and was so convenient. The snowmobile also was basically brand new and even had heated handle warmers!

There is quite a bit of opportunity for this whole set up to be ran much better and more efficiently. You start out at their office just as you enter town. This seemed a little pointless to sign a piece of paper and swipe our credit card when it was already on file, (unless you need equipment) your then instructed to drive back across town, turn just after shore lodge and drive down 8 miles to the parking lot where the snow mobiles are. Here you sign a couple more pieces of paper before taking off. Thanks to Cody not showing up at our rental time, they didn't have any trail to maps to give us. And while we were told the trails are pretty straight forward- it isn't as straightforward when your one of the first snow mobiles down the trail and signs are snowed over making them very easy to miss. Naturally every crossroad was just a guess on our part. As a result, we missed some stops that we would have otherwise liked to stop at. Thankfully for us, the fun run was taking place on the same day so we came across a few tent stations on our way up the trail- they were pretty surprised we weren't provided a map but were kind enough to help direct us. Secondarily, the only equipment we borrowed was a helmet, one would logically think you could turn in the equipment when you return the sled. Turns out that's not the case, they made use drive back across town just to return one helmet. I suppose customer service is a bit of an after thought here. They also give you a number to call if you get stuck or lost, only thing is there is no cell reception up in the hills, at all. They would be better off providing a radio you could use in an emergency like other rental company's we have used do. Although the rental prices and equipment are good we likely won't rent from this company again just due to the hassle and lack of preparation. We would have undoubtably had a much better experience if we were provided with the bare minimum of a map and didn't have the hassle of trekking across town twice.

Great experience and easy to rent! Checked into office to pick up gear at 8am (Bri was awesome!) then drove 30 min out to ride at 9am till about 1pm.

Came to McCall specifically to come snow mobiling with the fam and we had an ABSOLUTE blast out there! The owners were awesome and helped us get full geared in cool looking snow jackets and pants (that made for epic pictures later in the day) and then they were very helpful in instructing us on how to drive the sleds. Had a beautiful drive up to Burgdorf hot springs and in the end had an incredible day all that's to CM Backcountry Rentals

This was my first time visiting McCall, and I am so glad my friends and I discovered this place! We rented snowmobiles and drove up to Bergdorf Hot Springs and it was definitely the highlight of the trip! CM offers all the gear you could possibly need, and Karen, who helped us, made sure we had the best fitting gear. It was an awesome experience, and the sleds were so much fun! Well worth the money we paid.

Very easy to work with, helpful, reasonable prices. Karen is sweetheart. Will definitely be back.

One of the many bowls we got to enjoy riding

The highlight of the trip was the golf course and their excellent guest service, along with Patrick at the outside golf course bar. We arrived and learned we didn't get the correct room with any kind of view, and the ski lift is broken. I bought the trip insurance but I don't think it covers disappointment. The whole place is CASHLESS. Trying to buy a hot dog on the golf course was annoying as her internet wasn't working, but thankfully she let us play through and pay for it on our way back by on the 13th hole. The only place for dinner Wednesday was Seven Devils. You have to have a credit card to buy a beer and you have to pour it yourself, and pay for the warm foam. It's a ripoff. There was a kid sitting at the actual bar. We each had the chicken gyro that had overcooked, dry, stringy chicken thighs. Our server said she loved them but usually got steak. That option wasn't on the menu and no offer to fix it when we said the chicken was bad. Our beer was supposed to be charged to our gift card, but they charged it to our credit card. Rendezvous was supposedly open Thursday but we were told we probably wouldn't get reservations and we went into Donnelly to eat instead. At the "resort", the pizza place, the diner, and midway restaurant all closed. Didn't check the creamery. Most of the shops seemed closed. They advertise it as a resort with dining and shopping but that isn't the reality. There is no where for a sit-down breakfast. The coffee shop has breakfast sandwiches that are served on a soggy English muffin or plain bagel with no bagel upgrade option as they come premade and are reheated in a toaster over. Since our room water is brown, I wanted a coffee hopefully made with better water and real cream. The website says it's 99 cents for drip but when you get there it is $2.99 for drip. Our floor is sticky and dirty, which is especially frustrating since we pay so much for cleaning. I can't walk barefoot. The clock on the oven started flashing in the middle of the night, after I thought I had set it, and nothing seems to work to set it correctly. I had to cover it with a towel. We set our thermostat to 68 before we left for golfing and dinner, and our room was 74 when we got back and it has a funny smell, like flooring chemicals or something. Tried to turn it down our first night in the middle of the night and couldn't get it to work right then either. It seems very finicky. Our toilet runs constantly but doesn't make noise, just wastes tens of gallons of water a day. There is a dog that barks every time we come and go, but thankfully it is quiet at night. I have emailed the check-in office about all of it and have not heard back. I tried to call and there was no answer. I requested a partial refund and have not heard back either. For two nights our room (studio, not a suite), with no view, brown water, and a funny smell with a toilet that runs all the time was about $650 with fees. Our golfing with club rental was about $460. We spent a lot of money here and expected a whole lot more than what we got for over one thousand dollars in costs. Also, there is no where to buy bottled water after 7 pm. Sevin Devils gave me some in to go cups from the soda gun, but it had the same tint as our room water. I did find a water bottle filler that had a filter and the water looks clearer.

We claimed them as "our shop" after the great service we received and upgraded gear suited to our riding styles and needs. Mike is very generous is giving each customer the attention they need. This is a small hometown shop and customers need to excessive patience and friendliness to get their turn in receiving this service! From my first phone call to check on binding mounting and boot fitting I was impressed with their flexibility and desire to make these happen as soon as possible. After coming in for these services we were treated like family, and spent some time in the lounge getting custom fit in ski and snowboard boots, along with the best prices in town.
