I am in London once or twice a year and while I've found vegan options to be far more available than in many areas of the States, I have been meaning to try Mildred's. This trip, I specifically selected my hotel based on the proximity to Mildred's and theaters and I'm so glad I did. I was greeted promptly and while I did not have a reservation, I was seated right away. The smoky Paloma cocktail was delicious--not as smoky as many mezcal cocktails I've had. While I wanted to try everything on the menu, since I was dining alone, I settled on the kimchi fried rice dish. It was phenomenal. Flavorful and a little heat though not that spicy at all. Food was beautiful in presentation and incredibly flavorful. I've found many vegan restaurants tend to oversalt to add flavor but not this dish. While I didn't have room for dessert at the time, I took a few of their almond cream chocolates back to my hotel to try later. They were divine. Probably the best vegan chocolate I've ever tasted. My server was also attentive and incredibly friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience with clean, delicious food.

Mildred's is excellent. I got breakfast here and one of their juices, and I loved it. Great service too, very glad I dropped in

Thali brunch. Pretty good. If you are vegan and need a decent meal you will be satisfied.

Probably our top meal in London. Before I talk about the food, I want to highlight excellent…read moreservice. One of our group has a tomato allergy and we weren't sure how much of a selection he would have. The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. That said, it was a busy weekend and the place looked fairly full by the time we left, so maybe grab a reservation. Enjoy!

Not just "hyped", dishoom deserves the recognition!…read more SERVICE Amazing service, easy to make reservations online, and easy to check in and get seated once your entire party has arrived. INSIDE Spacious, clean, and plenty of seating both upstairs and down. MENU For larger parties, they recommend their prefix menu which includes a various sampling of lots of delicious items. FOOD 10/10 I haven't eaten Indian food much, but was thoroughly impressed. From my mango lassi which was perfectly sweetened and tart to buttered buns, fried okra, black Dahl, garlic naan, and lamb skewers, everything was delicious. I esp loved the lamb skewers! We ordered a side of garlic naan with cheese which is basically a quesadilla and it was super cheesy and delicious as well. OVERALL Would def recommend Dishoom when visiting London. It'll definitely be a hit in your books!

I love vegetarian restaurants - and love upscale ones even more…read more This is a lame addition to the upscale vegetarian category. Vegetarian cooking is British cooking taken to the highest level. Good ingredients - Simply but Expertly Prepared. Good ingredients are critical and flavor retention in the kitchen is life and death. We did a mixed vegetable soup. (Fancy name - Tuscan soup . Simpler reality - vegetables boiled in a stock and then pureed.) Done right - this is one of the staples of vegetarian comfort food - and places like Planet Organic do terrific versions of the dish. The Carnevale version was tasteless brown stuff with orange flecks. A plate of artichokes (not a fancy one drowning in flavored bread stuffing. The pure up and simple - here is your artichoke - buy a good one and cook it to keep the taste.) The artichokes came out small and tasteless. Admittedly artichokes were not in season when I ate here .... but if this is the case - why are they on the menu? Manchego with quince and biscuits were lovely - but then the kitchen did nothing here. But at least they bought good cheese, quince and biscuits. The room itself shows the same sloppiness of execution that is shown in the cooking. On the night we were there one fluorescent like fixture was broken with the bulb stinking out of the fixture at a 30 degree angle. Packages of napkins were piled up in the dining room for storage as if we were eating in a cleaning goods closet. Yes the place is small and storage is at a premium. But even if one must store goods in the dining room - can't one at least cover it up so it doesn't look like your paper depository? Add to this that the place charges Barbican Banker prices. If I am paying this much for vegetables, please buy good ones - and actually take some care in their preparation - rather than just blasting them through and covering up the results with sauce..

The owner and staff were always extremely friendly, and this was my little safehaven in London which I used to go to after work at night for takeaway. In 2009 I started eating meat again, but I never stopped eating at this place, because it's truly one of the best restaurants in London, whether you're a vegetarian or not. The ambiance and atmosphere feels like you're in some secret garden, hidden away from all the chaos of the city. In 2010 I took my sister here, and she said it was one of the best Italian-Mediterranean meals she has ever eaten. Quite a statement considering she's a real foodie and has been to hundreds if not thousands of different restaurants in Italy among other places. If you don't have the time or a date to eat at this quaint restaurant, I would highly suggest getting takeaway. This is what I did at least once or twice a week for five years (yes the food was that good). The takeaway was about half the price of eating in, although you only got the special of the day, which changed often. The halloumi egg piadine is to die for, as is the risotto and pretty much everything they serve. The sandwiches they make at lunch are awesome such as the eggplant and mozzarella and the brownies and drinks are really good too. This is one of the places I miss the most in London. I still crave that Halloumi and Egg sandwich almost on a daily basis, I hope I get to eat it again some day.

We made a reservation through the Redemption website (they're not featured on OpenTable) the day of with no difficulties. The restaurant is small and intimate and was full when we arrived. They do have an outdoor patio, but it wasn't open due to rain. There is also a bar area which seemed to be open seating. I recommend making a reservation as the restaurant seems to be popular. There seemed to be only 2 servers (one of which was also the bartender), so the service was relaxed. If you are in a rush, this may not be your place. However, if you are looking to unwind and enjoy a meal without without feeling like you're being pushed to leave, this is your place. Both servers were very friendly and attentive. My husband and I ordered the flu fighter martini (spicy!) and the mood enhancing mocha. We also ordered the kale crisps as a starter, the buff burger, and the bolognese brown rice penne pasta. The only complaint my husband had was that the burger (made from beetroot and beans) fell apart easily. However the flavors were on point. The bolognese pasta was generous with the mushrooms and sauce. The portions were good for the price. All items had great flavor, were cooked well and filling. I would recommend this restaurants to vegans and non-vegans alike. We will definitely be going back during our time in London.

The soup came with a toasted slice of vegan gluten free bread which I thought was a perfect texture and had plenty of flavor. Note that they are categorized as a restaurant/bar, however despite the fact that there is a bar, they do not serve alcohol. They have mocktails and elixers and non-alcoholic beer. Service was pretty good for London. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
