The 1 star is because they were kind enough to put an extra soup for ordering from them for the first time. The crab Rangoon and the soup were the only two thing edible from our order. I ordered the tofu pineapple fried rice that tasted so nasty. It smelled like spices and was so bitter. I'm pretty tough on sushi reviews. My son and I ate here recently and we had a pleasant experience. Great tuna sashimi. Melt in your mouth type. Spicy tuna is my litmus test and they passed with flying colors. May be the best spicy tuna that have had. Seaweed salad was a healthy portion for sure. Enough to share. My only criticism is petty, but this bugged me. The tables around us received free appetizers from the manager. I'm sure they were frequent customers, but it's not good to do that unless you're going to do it for everyone within earshot. We spent more money than the tables around us. I thought that they used to be good. I picked up my sushi order yesterday, it was $57, BUT WE COULDN'T ENJOY AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! We through away most of them. Rice was dry, hard, no flavor. Tuna was TOO DRY like a sponge, You can't even eat. Ginger was too dry and smell like TOO OLD!!!!! I called them but they didn't even ask me any offer. The atmosphere is very nice, and there is the option of sitting at the sushi bar where you can watch the sushi chef work and talk to him. We sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef was very nice to us. The major turn offs about this place, and the reason I wouldn't recommend it, are the outrageously high prices and the poor quality of the sushi. I held off writing a review for Mikura when I first visited because something about the place irritated me and I felt like I wasn't being fair. It could have been our waitress who heard everything four seconds after you said it, the close quarters and people pushing into you, or the cucumbertini I had that tasted like straight up Robitussin. Tried to order a pina colada with tapioca pearls to fix my palate and they completely forgot the pearls. My coworkers and I have a habit of going to local sushi joints whenever we're in a heavily populated town. Of course, the majority of us live on the Chesapeake Bay, so we have pretty high standards of what fresh seafood should taste like. Fresh fish in Pennsylvania??? Eeehhh, we gave it a shot and got shot in return. The first thing that got me was the sign outside of the establishment saying they sold beer to go. ??? And some sort of sashimi kimchi? I LOVE KIMCHI. Okay, got my attention. I didn't even bother with the beer and went straight for the sashimi kimchi which was a horrible decision. I need to get into the habit of asking what exactly I'm eating because the kimchi had shrimp in it (and I know that traditional kimchi has little shrimp in it, my mistake) and I'm allergic to crustaceans. Had a tummy ache all night. Also, the kimchi "sauce" or whatever it was tasted like Costco. Hmmm... I ordered the Spicy Girl roll and it was pretty amazing, not gonna lie. I normally eat my sushi with some spicy mayo, but my plate had none. Just some eel sauce, so I swiped my roll along the drizzled picture of a tree and swallowed it whole. Scratch that. No eel sauce. Not even a savoury sauce. It was chocolate. Ugh. C H O C A L A T E and sushi don't go together at all. Ruined my appetite. The sushi was good, though, so I gave it one more chance and went out again when my boss. She absolutely hated her food. She ordered some bbq thing with peanut sauce. I saw her pick over it and felt bad for her. My coconut curry soup was amazing, so I felt extra bad for her. At dessert, it was her time to feel bad for me and my other coworker. She ordered the NY style cheesecake that legit tasted like melted butthole. It was gritty and warm. WARM, MELTING CHEESECAKE. I wanted two scoops of green tea ice cream and one scoop of ginger (I originally wanted one scoop of ginger, green tea, and red bean ice cream, but they said they couldn't do that). I got the reverse. The green tea was good, but the ginger made my stomach turn. I dunno if it had actual pieces of ginger in it or if it was freezer burnt, but there were unidentifiable chunks of grossness in it. $50 for all this mess and I still tipped. Buddha, have mercy on my wallet. The sad thing about this place is that the sushi is actually really really good. The flavours are awesome, the portions are great, but everything else is lackluster. Mikura is another one of those generic "Asian" restaurants that try to do it all: Chinese, Japanese, Thai. That seems to be the trend around here. The problems is they don't seem to any of the 3 cuisines particularly well. Not terrible, just nothing that was all that good. Oysters on the half shell were nice, but the sauce they put on them overwhelmed the delicate oyster flavor. The rainbow roll wasn't bad, but it was rolled so loose it just fell apart on its own. But then Li (perhaps the owner or manager) came by and was energetic and caring about how we were enjoying our lunch. The Gyoza appetizer was delicious. Very light dough on the dumplings. Then I had the Cherry Blossom roll. Delicious! I continue to be disappointed with the Chinese menus in the area, Mikura is no exception. I thought Mikura was great when they first opened & the food was delicious. Now, I'd consider them to be mediocre. I feel that Mikura is the best hibachi restaurant around even though the food is mediocre. The salad that they start you out with is bland. The dressing used to be delicious & loaded it flavor. Now it tastes watered down. The soup honestly just tastes like chicken broth that's been garnished with green onions & mushrooms. Their rice is very bland. I think if they used a bit more garlic & soy sauce, then it would have been better. They seem to be really skimpy with the yum yum & ginger sauce that they give you now. Not to mention that the yum yum sauce also appears to be heavily watered down. I never remembered it having the ability to drop before. It used to be creamy. The ginger sou sauce is good. They barely seem to give you any vegetables anymore like they used to. We used to get a decent amount, now it's just a very small portion. I got the shrimp which was very good. A solid option for sushi! What I like best About Mikura over the other local Asian Restaurants is that the menu at Mikura is much deeper. I went here with my mom while home for Christmas. This is a relatively small spot, compared to other sushi offerings in the area. While other places are getting packed to the gills for no reason, come here instead. The lunch special is soup or salad + 2 rolls. Delicious and perfect amount of food for lunch. I particularly liked that there wasn't a surplus of rice on my rolls. They also do a little bit of illustration on your plate in sauces you're welcome to sop up with your various sushi rolls. Not sure what happened here but this place used to be a great spot. Went here last night and ordered sushi and some tempura with tea. While the food tasted ok, I was seated by the drink station because it was busier than normal. They reused the same tea bag with the entire restaurant and didn't even give me a new mug when I got a refill. So my backwash was steeping in a used teabag... then reused in other patrons backwashed mugs over and over and over. Who knows what they do that can't be seen.. ugh read more

Food was decent, our waitress wasn't as attentive as you would really want. For 4 guest she only gave 2 cups of rice and just dealt with it because she didn't check up on us during our meal.
