We came here for my boyfriend's 40th birthday…read more It was perfect! They decorated the table with confetti which was of seashells and birthday cakes. So cute!!!! They treated us to a free dessert for him! He chose the rhubarb buckle. Which he absolutely loved so much!! God everything we had was pretty incredible here!! I recommend making reservations. Oh and if you use the SpotHero app you can find super cheap parking nearby! Like $5 for all night if needed! Our server was incredible. His name was Dave! Next time I'd love to try the caviar, and the seafood tower! I had the whole fried branzino, such incredible flavor and cooked perfectly. He had the snapper. And he was so happy! We had the roasted cauliflower and ate it all!!! We brought the key lime pie home for my ma. We enjoyed the shiny sea oysters. I'd love to have them again. By far the best oysters I've had in Minnesota! Had the Failla Pinot Noir bottle of wine which was a perfect pairing suggested by our server. Spanish octopus was good but maybe next time I'd try the caviar or seafood tower instead. It wasn't bad it just didn't stick out in my mind as much. I loved this experience though and feel this is totally worth it for a celebration!!

I have been to 801 Fish too many times to count since their initial opening. As the sister…read morerestaurant to 801 Chophouse, I knew that each experience was going to be spectacular. Sure, there are quite a few seafood restaurants in the Minneapolis area, but 801 Fish takes your dining experience to another level. When you walk in, you are essentially transported to what feels like a luxurious castle under the sea. The decor and color selections scream comfort sea-side elegance, with a touch of simplistic luxury. The three private dining areas give a sort-of "fish bowl" feel. Each design feature was thought through brilliantly! The Service: The 801 Family across all of their restaurants are masters when it comes to service. Whether you are dining at the bar, at a table in the dining room, or in a private dining room, you are getting 5-star service. Each and every member of the staff make it their mission to ensure that you experience is incredible. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. 500000/5 for service. Jase, the General Manager, has cultivated one of the best teams I have come across through all of my culinary journeys. The Food: The 801 Fish menu is a love-letter to seafood lovers. The Executive Chef, Chef Lawrence, puts a secret ingredient into each dish...love. I have eaten my way through a majority of this menu, and have never been disappointed. Not to mention, they have non-fish dishes on the menu for the picky esters in the group (example, the chicken chop). Don't forget to get some fresh oysters for the table while here, or their Pain au Lait (milk bread), or even their Grilled Broccolini as a side, which comes with a delicious layer of provolone fondue. You simply cannot go wrong with this menu, and cannot go wrong choosing this place for a fabulous dinner. Also, they have a great happy hour!

This is a great place to load up on seafood, beef, and chicken on Thursday nights - 3.5 stars…read more The buffet is open on Thursdays and Sundays. Thursdays is by far the best night because that's seafood night. If you like crab legs, you really get a good deal if you go on Thursday nights. You can load up on crab legs, various versions of shrimp, oysters (usually), scallops, mussels, calamari, and last but not least - frog legs! If I go to my local grocery store in the Twin Cities, 2 frozen crab legs are 10 bucks. So it's a bargain to eat all of these crab legs (and the other stuff) for a meager 22 dollars. Of course, they also have sliced roast beef at the beef carving station. There's another version of beef & mushrooms in the self-serve area. They have roast chicken too. The salad bar area is pretty decent. I usually hit this first. It's easy because there's never a line for the salad bar. Then I wait in line for the meat items. One thing I want to mention is that the employees are all really friendly. This is amazing considering how incredibly busy it is and some of the customers are a little rough around the edges. There's one particularly skinny little dude that I usually see running in & out with food that's very friendly and funny as hell, cracking jokes with customers. I always say "hi" to him if I see him. There are a couple of things that keep me from giving out 4 or 5 stars: 1. The dessert area is a little light in variety and low in quality compared to other buffets. They have pies, bars, small cake pieces, and a soft serve ice cream machine. But all in all, there's isn't nearly as much variety as I usually see at buffets and they aren't that great. 2. Since smoking is allowed in the casino, the whole place is totally permeated with cigarette smoke. As a guy that grew up with second hand smoke, this whole thing is a little nauseating. It seems like nearly everyone has a heater in one hand and a brewski in the other hand. 3. The line is usually very long. The buffet room is pretty small and I'm amazed with how well they do with the space they have. Nonetheless, the line is a pain. If you're hungry and if you're close to Taylor's Falls, check them out! -Daddy Maxx Retro

The bar had a few large screen TV's with various sports on and there is a big (separate) game room area for kids to be occupied while parents can enjoy a drink. However I did find it weird that the men's bathroom has a one way mirror that overlooks the playroom while using the urinal? A few reasons I couldn't go higher than a 3 on this experience. First of all it has to do with the "quick" service. I ordered a bowl of soup, which was huge! It came out hot and pretty tasty... but my main course came out only minutes after. So I had to make a decision... power through my soup in hopes to still have hot food when I was finished. Or eat them both at the same time... I chose the latter. For my main course I had the Fish and Chips. 3 pieces of fish, two that were stuck together, served on top of a small pile of over done fries. The fish was crispy on the outside but a bit mushy in the inside. the bartender, who was very nice and friendly, was way too busy to refill my drink because she was busy making drinks for the entire restaurant. I finally stopped a waitress to get a refill. Judging by the atmosphere and the relatively good crowd, this seems to be a well liked local place. So I have to believe that I maybe my fish and chips were just a one off. I also thought that the entree was fair priced at $15, but $10 for the soup was a bit much. (And now that I look at the menu (the next day) the soup is listed at $5.99...makes me wonder why I was charged $9.99??). Maybe the $6 is for a cup? It doesn't offer a cup or a bowl on the menu, just a price of $5.99. Shame on me for not noticing and asking I guess!

Before going into detail about the menu and service, I want to emphasize that I was disappointed by the restaurant's ambiance. I expected a more French setting, to do justice to its name, Manger. The walls were bare, the seats uncomfortable, and the chairs looked like church pews. I expected more French decor--at the very least, chairs in that style. Even a little French music, which is so lovely and romantic. The croquettes were delicious. I ordered the French fries and was disappointed--they were mushy and tasteless. The aioli was a nice touch, but the ketchup sauce was completely out of place. What I thought was very well prepared was the Trout Veronique. The flavor of the sauce and the clams was absolutely fantastic. As a connoisseur, I have to commend the selection of excellent French wines. It really bothers me when I go to restaurants that claim to be Italian or French but only have California wines. I have nothing against California, but as connoisseurs, we know there are many more options around the globe. I was amazed by the variety of spirits and the house-made cocktails at this place. The Old Fashioned, prepared by Erin, was absolutely delicious. Whenever I go to a restaurant that serves Crème Brûlée, I try it. I have my own Swiss recipe, and I've been disappointed before. That wasn't the case here. The dessert was prepared with the utmost delicacy and had a perfectly smooth texture. The caramel was executed with the precision of a great chef. The service is very professional, and you feel welcomed by their sincere hospitality. Erin is a true professional. See you next time.

I loved the decor and it provided an upscale vibe in its small space. All the food was amazing which you can see photos of below, except for 1 dish, the Capunti Nero which was too salty in our opinions. There was also a great cocktail selection as well as a vast wine list. Besides the one dish of 4 that we didn't particularly love, the only other critique is that their menu online is not up to date so I would recommend if you go to make sure you check their Facebook page as they appear to post their current menu there.

This time, we went with their gluten friendly options: the jambalaya, veggie fries and blackened fish tacos. Both were OK. The jambalaya was not good; the situation with the vegetables especially was not it. They were cut julienned rather than diced and they were overcooked and mushy. The flavor of the overall dish didn't have your classic jambalaya taste so it was all a bit off, and the meat didn't have much flavor to them individually. The tacos were what you would expect when ordering, good adding some hot sauce. The side of veggie fries were good, I really appreciated that option for a side. Service was alright both times. First visit was maybe a 4 stars and second visit was a strong 2 stars, so my review is averaging to a 3.
