Enjoyed salads, crab cake appetizer, and tuscan pasta between my wife and myself. Quantity was sufficient for two. Resturant is clean, food choice excellent, food quality very good, ambiance good, service good, on this Sunday night. I particularly appreciate menu choice which is above and beyond what is available in rural Wisconsin.

Wow - great food and excellent service - 4.5 stars! I stopped in for lunch with a friend. We ordered a lot of food including drinks, appetizers, lunch, and dessert. Every mouthful of food was good! I don't hand out many 5 star reviews so I'm calling Mallards a 4.5 - right now. But if everything is just as good when I stop back for dinner, I'll probably upgrade them to 5 stars. Much of the food is made in-house from scratch. And it shows. They flavors were all wonderful. I particularly liked the potato soup, the hand battered shrimp, and the salmon plate which had some wonderful savory items like capers and an awesome cream cheese spread. The apple pie with vanilla ice cream & caramel drizzle was excellent too. The restaurant is really big too. They even have a balcony area for special events and overflow seating. There's a big arcade area in back. It even has a little put-put golf area. Cool! Thumbs up! -Daddy Maxx Retro

Mallard's is sadly to say not even close to the one that closed at Bayport. The menu is a regular menu with nothing outstanding and as usual at restaurants that don't have to much creativity deserts are always the same. I am not saying going to the extreme vanguard food which is sometimes too little and too eccentric and even expensive. The other issue is that almost everything in the menus is hot and extra hot. I wrote before. "Being around at restaurants for long time I am seeing more and more and more the tendency of putting into the dishes and uncontrollable amount of hot, indescribable, inexpressible, ridiculously hot spice ingredients in the preparation of the food. The restaurants use as propaganda the "gluten free". Now, the medical situation with gluten affects only 1.4% of the world population but 15% of the world population has peptic ulcer ( GOOGLE it) and 30% of the population gastritis. The hot spices like jalapeños, Chocula, schug, and many more in those quantities will produce more damage. The Celiac disease is not a game nor the rest of the diseases mentioned above. Therefore, please, be more open minded and when preparing the food leave the option, Gluten Free or Spice Hot FREE, thus everybody can enjoy the delicious food, and the great service." Besides all of the above, the service was very nice and the bar is very well stocked.

So delicious. The crab cake Benedict, pecan crusted walleye, and the keto bowl were the standouts at our table. The grits were good, but didn't have much verity. The employees were kind enough to make a grilled version of their fried shrimp, which turned out excellent.

My kids and I stopped here randomly on our way home from the pumpkin patch and had a wonderful meal that everyone enjoyed. Lots of great seafood options and an amazing and huge brownie sundae!

Sarah was our waitress and she was amazing. Good server and managed to greet every customer as they walked in too. She's good. Now on to the food. Had bisque, again taco wraps, house red wine, tennessee sandwich and the barramundi Rodrigo fish with risotto. Super delicious. Normally we get the jumbalya but changed it up.

Had breakfast at Mallards in New Richmond this morning and was thoroughly disappointed! Service was very slow and unorganized. Food took forever to come out and 75% was cold when it did come out. Nashville hot chicken sandwich had good flavor and lots of potential but was cold when it was served. Only bright spot is the biscuits and gravy which is just as good as other locations. Other Mallards locations have been great very disappointed in my first experience at our local Mallards.

This is a great place to load up on seafood, beef, and chicken on Thursday nights - 3.5 stars…read more The buffet is open on Thursdays and Sundays. Thursdays is by far the best night because that's seafood night. If you like crab legs, you really get a good deal if you go on Thursday nights. You can load up on crab legs, various versions of shrimp, oysters (usually), scallops, mussels, calamari, and last but not least - frog legs! If I go to my local grocery store in the Twin Cities, 2 frozen crab legs are 10 bucks. So it's a bargain to eat all of these crab legs (and the other stuff) for a meager 22 dollars. Of course, they also have sliced roast beef at the beef carving station. There's another version of beef & mushrooms in the self-serve area. They have roast chicken too. The salad bar area is pretty decent. I usually hit this first. It's easy because there's never a line for the salad bar. Then I wait in line for the meat items. One thing I want to mention is that the employees are all really friendly. This is amazing considering how incredibly busy it is and some of the customers are a little rough around the edges. There's one particularly skinny little dude that I usually see running in & out with food that's very friendly and funny as hell, cracking jokes with customers. I always say "hi" to him if I see him. There are a couple of things that keep me from giving out 4 or 5 stars: 1. The dessert area is a little light in variety and low in quality compared to other buffets. They have pies, bars, small cake pieces, and a soft serve ice cream machine. But all in all, there's isn't nearly as much variety as I usually see at buffets and they aren't that great. 2. Since smoking is allowed in the casino, the whole place is totally permeated with cigarette smoke. As a guy that grew up with second hand smoke, this whole thing is a little nauseating. It seems like nearly everyone has a heater in one hand and a brewski in the other hand. 3. The line is usually very long. The buffet room is pretty small and I'm amazed with how well they do with the space they have. Nonetheless, the line is a pain. If you're hungry and if you're close to Taylor's Falls, check them out! -Daddy Maxx Retro

Walking inside the first thing I noticed was the lack of decor and warmth in this place. The pictures are hanging up spaced unevenly. The boards above the booths are not screwed into the wall. It honestly looks and feels tacky. There is a lack of decor and the lighting is too harsh. It feels like someone is moving out. Our server and the other employees, are the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. They were absolutely lovely and helped one another out. Our water glasses were filled multiple times and our server was very sweet. The food: we started with a beer and mojito. The beer was good. The Mojito was too strong and too sweet. It was really strange... Then we had the lobster bisque. It was very peppery and lacked flavor. There was only one piece of lobster and it had a strange after taste to it. The jerk chicken nachos were awesome is flavor but sooo greasy. See the pictures. I got the hot chicken and waffles. The texture of the chicken was great!! And the waffles were tasty! But these chicken tenders are very spicy and I could only get through half the meal. I would love if you could pick a non spicy version!! My boyfriend got a lobster roll and said it was good not great and the fries were pretty standard. We will not be back to this location. If you want to try this place, I would recommend the Bloomington location!

One of those things must change to command those prices. They need to hire servers who are honestly younger and more efficient, and sorry if that is ageist, but for their price point, I've had multiple experiences where the elderly servers never check up after food is delivered and constantly tell me about their stress and how they need to get caught up to even cash me out or get a box (no apology for not being around for over 20 minutes) and I'm there to relax, not hear about your stress. If you can't handle the amount of tables you have, let management know so they staff better or get you things or check on tables themselves, but don't dump your stress on customers. It's unprofessional at any restaurant, let alone an expensive one. The food quality has also gone down over the years, the vegetable and potato of the day yesterday was inedible, and soups and salads are add ons instead of being included like all other nice steakhouses. I just can't keep rooting for this place and spending money here because it's just not worth the price for what you get and the service is so poor. Two stars for the cute ambiance.

Before going into detail about the menu and service, I want to emphasize that I was disappointed by the restaurant's ambiance. I expected a more French setting, to do justice to its name, Manger. The walls were bare, the seats uncomfortable, and the chairs looked like church pews. I expected more French decor--at the very least, chairs in that style. Even a little French music, which is so lovely and romantic. The croquettes were delicious. I ordered the French fries and was disappointed--they were mushy and tasteless. The aioli was a nice touch, but the ketchup sauce was completely out of place. What I thought was very well prepared was the Trout Veronique. The flavor of the sauce and the clams was absolutely fantastic. As a connoisseur, I have to commend the selection of excellent French wines. It really bothers me when I go to restaurants that claim to be Italian or French but only have California wines. I have nothing against California, but as connoisseurs, we know there are many more options around the globe. I was amazed by the variety of spirits and the house-made cocktails at this place. The Old Fashioned, prepared by Erin, was absolutely delicious. Whenever I go to a restaurant that serves Crème Brûlée, I try it. I have my own Swiss recipe, and I've been disappointed before. That wasn't the case here. The dessert was prepared with the utmost delicacy and had a perfectly smooth texture. The caramel was executed with the precision of a great chef. The service is very professional, and you feel welcomed by their sincere hospitality. Erin is a true professional. See you next time.
