I got 3 quotes. My first was Mike's Moving and with a very prompt and honest consultation. I then had 2 others come by (big companies) and they were pretty good too. All 3 quotes were more than I expected and Mike being the most expensive. But he helped me understand why and delivered in excellence. This was a 400 mile move too! read more

I engaged the services of Mike's Moving Company in 2005 to store my belongings in his San Jose facility thinking that it would be for only six months. It turned out to be 16 years before I could move into my current home in Bend, Oregon. Several years ago Mike informed me that he would be transferring my belongings from San Jose to San Martin. Mike told me that everything was intact. During this time I paid the monthly storage fees as agreed upon. I eventually enlisted another moving company to deliver my belongings to Bend. That moving company arrived to pick up my belongings in November 2021 through a pre-arrangement with Mike Lopez, the owner of Mike's Moving Company. They informed me that Mike was there to open the storage unit and then left without overseeing the loading process. When my belongings arrived, there were a number of items missing including an area rug. At the same time I received a number of items that were not mine including box springs and an Oster tabletop oven. I had emailed Mike on November 29 , 2021 to ask if the items may have been placed in a different storage container when they were being transferred as well as asking for an inventory of the stored items. He did not respond the email. He told me later that he was going to be on vacation and would get back to me when he returned saying he was out of the country. I did not receive any response until February 10. He told me to dispose of the items that were not mine. I sent him a certified letter on April 19, 2022 regarding the legal disposal of these items. I never received a response. I would not recommend using Mike's Moving Company based on my experience with them. read more

Mike's Moving did a fantastic job. We are moving to Oregon and I was loading the UHAUL with my son. We loaded about 1/3 of the truck and said to myself I have a lot to do and was running out of time. It so happened that Mike lived around the corner and happened to see the truck. He gave me his card and said if I needed help to let him know. I called on Thursday, the next day his team was there, they finished wrapping all the furniture and loading the truck! It was pack efficiently and everything was protected properly. Not one item was broken or damaged. I will be using Mike's Moving again soon! read more

Stay the hell away from this company. They canceled on me at 1:15am when our move was schedules for 11am. Didn't even have the balls to explain himself. Stating that after researching information I'm going to have cancel and refunded me. Couldn't even bother to make up some fantastical excuse. The charges he made we're from D&W moving which is a closed down company so clearly they had a name change I can only speculate why. Then on top of that two days later we get a bunch of fraudulent charges and had to cancel our credit card. Mike and his team of guys came and helped move everything with ease. The guys arrived on time with the right truck and made moving painless. I have hired other companies before and they are never fragile! Mike and his guys asked all the right questions and made sure to not toss and throw things around. My experience with this company was both positive and negative. I will start with negative side. It seems like they are really not organized, I tried to make sure to arrange to meet at the specific Uhaul location like 3 times to make sure the communication went correct. And he still showed up at other Uhaul location, it was not a big deal but maybe the area to improve? And I initially hired 2 guys but one guy got sick and only one person showed up. So the move ended up taking longer time than we all thought, plus my boyfriend helped a lot to cover the second person who got sick. And lastly, probably because the mover is only one person, it hurt some of my furniture. I realized after I started to arrange my new place and found many scratches on one of my favorite furniture. Plus side, the one guy who came to do his job, he did work very hard. I expect that and I do appreciate that. I would give him 4 stars. Although because of the whole thing went out of our plan and we all worked extra hours that there was some sour feeling left. I think as a business, if they can organize better and always have backup people to cover the clients as you promised, it would improve the whole experiences. That would end up having movers to get more tips and we would have been all happier. Moving is already a hassle, and more hassle from moving services who supposed to make things easier is the last thing we want. They showed up two hours late, the guys were super slow. Spent lot of time pooping in the toilet. I had cleaned the toilets before the move but when I went back the toilets had skid marks eeeewu !!! They damaged our hallway wall by hitting the bed while moving the bed in the bedroom. My friend had to hire movers two week later definitely not recommending these guys!!!! read more

Mike's Moving did an awesome job with our move. They carefully removed our TVs from the wall, disassembled every bed, etc, and put it all back together at the new house. When our move took longer than expected, they returned the next day to complete the job. At the last minute, we added on a washer and dryer, and they worked late into the night to get them set up for us. All the employees were very nice and professional. We were very happy with our move and highly recommend them. read more

I will never use this service again. This is the worst moving service I have observed in my life. First, they charge an absurd amount of money. When you ask for an estimate, Mike says this is not legal in California. This is a dishonest statement. He did not make an inventory, and just eyeball what I had at home. Long story short, items were missing at arrival (and of course you won't know until everything ins unpacked) and the final charge was away above his estimates - of course he will have multiple excuses. Another reason to NEVER retain this service, is the lack of reliability and professional manners. If you are not watching them working, the movers eat your food and smoke inside your place. Absolutely do not use these guys. Owner does not honor his stated and confirmed cost quotes, and tries to double costs when you are stuck without options. Simple move of a refrigerator sounded easy enough. Mike (owner) quoted the cost to pick up and move a fridge, based on size and the total 8 miles distance. After we accepted, his driver shows up ready to go. Driver was very nice, ready to get to work for the 1 hour project. He had the right size truck with a lift gate, cart, and all the straps he needed. Mike arrived and stated that he now wanted double the price he quoted - $450 to move a fridge. We were stuck, with no other options on a Saturday. So we declined and sent them on their way. Driver apologized for the owner's actions. We were able to get a hold of another company, Two Friends Movers, Jorge @ 650-551-5233, who quoted and moved the fridge without problem. DO NOT USE MIKE'S MOVING. Try Two Friends Movers. read more

If I could give Mike a minus star I would. Worst experience ever. We used them 7 years ago and were very happy with them on both ends. This time not the same at all. Mike did come out twice and look at what was going and we even got rid of stuff after he came. He quoted us a price and he was a little less than the other 2 (wish i had gone with one of them). The day of the move they came and staged and wrapped moved and took the items. We were ready too. We had killed ourselves making it as easy as possible for them. The day they came Mike says we have to pay for wrap and bubble? WHAT? Isn't that included in the quote? You cannot add that after the fact. Then he let it go. That was the beginning. We had a sleep number bed and sleep number would not because of the virus send someone to take down and set up. He said they would do it for $175 each side if they had to do it. We had our neighbor help us take it apart and it was moved like a regular bed. Then on the other end he would not help us because they did not take it apart. My husband and i figured it out and they brought the mattress up and put on the bed and put the frame around it. Am i wrong that is what a mover would do? Take the mattress down and up? He wanted to charge us for both because they had to move the mattress. Again isn't that what a mover should do within the cost quoted. They broke several things. A couple loading and a few we found after we unwrapped (to the dump they went). Mike did charge me $175 for the bed thing before he said he would not do it. Then gave me back $120 for the cabinet they broke and something else? That was not without and argument. After they left we found a GASH in our brand new wood floors (we found many scuffs and areas i have to touch up paint) Did I mention this was a brand new home? The floor guys are going to charge us $150 to fix it. Of course Mike does not want to take care of that. He says we did not purchase insurance but they had the standard insurance which was .60 on the $1.00 per item. We did not think we needed to pay $150 or $300 for extra insurance. Either way it cost us. One more thing. He wanted 1/2 down and that was fine. He left our home ran to the bank and cashed it. Then asked for $500 cash for expenses and a cashiers check. Even our banker thought the entire thing did not sound right but to late to go back then. Over all was a bad experience. Do your homework before hiring your movers. read more

I give mike himself a 1 star only because that's the lowest I can give. The movers themselves I give 5. Mike is very rude and got in a shouting match with me over the phone while he was in a whole other state. He gave me a quote of 147.50/hr for 3 guys and I mentioned I only need them for a max of 2 hours since we didn't have a lot of things. When his guys arrived they told me it was a minimum of 3 hours that was going to cost me a little over $400. He never explained that to me so when his movers called him to verify, I was handed the phone and mike said he explained this all to me that that's what it's going to cost. He NEVER explained anything to me about that and agreed with me when I said I needed 2 hours. The guys he sent were great. They were nice and apologetic. In my opinion they should leave mike and start they're own moving business. They shouldn't be dealing with such an asshole!! read more

I got quotes from many movers and I chose Mike's because he was very motivated to get my business, we talked over the phone, gave me a quote that was really competitive and confirmed it right away via email. it was not the cheapest but far from being the highest. They showed up on time and were very efficient. Move completed, I had a lot more stuff than I thought, nonetheless it was handled very professionally! I only gave one star because I can't post a review without it. I would give Mike's Moving no stars. Mikes Moving robbed us of over $20,000.00 worth of our stuff. We used them in May to help us unload a U-Haul truck into storage units. They were great that time, took three hours and they were done. So when it was time to take it from storage to our apartment we called Mike's again. Well this time it took them seven and a half hours to load the truck, they said they had to keep our stuff overnight because it was too late to deliver that day. When they did come the next morning the boss was the first one there with a contract for me to sign. Trusting them I signed the papers before I knew that things were missing, before I realized my drawers had been gone through and my jewelry was missing, my leg braces were even missing (I guess they liked the Adidas that were attached to them), a handmade stained glass picture of a Sunflower (especially made for me), my computer and other things. If I had known I would never had signed. I even gave them tips!..When I did learn things were missing I asked and got responses like "look in-between the boxes", "We will check the storage space" (why would it be there? Nothing should have come off the truck!). "Let me call so and so and see if he knows", "I'm out of town, so let me check when I get back". Well I never got answers and when I called and said I would be hiring an attorney because I was not getting answers, he said "Do what you have to do". Those are not words of someone who cared about me and my possessions. Some of the things can not be replaced. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!!! read more

These guys far exceeded my expectations. Mike quoted us a price to pack all our belongings and move us 60 miles and then actually came in under that price quote. We had two guys pack us the day before the move. Mike himself came over that day, too, to fill out the paperwork, explain insurance options, and to offer suggestions on the packing. The next day three guys arrived to move us. They were on time and efficient. These guys did not mess around even though they were being paid hourly. Everything was quickly and securely loaded in the truck. We got other quotes for packing and moving that were sky high compared to Mike's Moving. One company wanted to charge us $15 per box plus their hourly fee for the packing. On our final bill Mike's charges were all as he promised or under. The moving truck was newer and in good condition, and the boxes and packing materials they used were new, not used. When I unpacked our boxes, everything was packed really well -- none of my dishes or glasses were broken. My mother used this company to move over 120 miles, but she did the packing herself, and was equally happy with their service. read more

Mike's Moving has moved me more than six times in the past 15 years, and I cannot speak too highly of them! I'm not sure how they do it, but they have NEVER damaged or broken one thing, and I have several large wall mirrors and glass table tops -- never so much as a chip. I had a negative experience with this company. Initially I asked for a written quote for the cost of moving a one bedroom apartment from the tri-valley area to Oakland, CA. He would not send me a quote in writing but told me over the phone it would be $350.00. and against better judgement I hired them anyway. Two men arrived, and within an hour of arrival, one of the men asked to use the restroom and let me tell you, I had to open every window and leave the stench was so vile. Back to the moving - I had wrapped and boxed all of my own items and bagged all of my clothing and had it easily accessible for them. They did not cover a single piece of furniture and treated most of it as if it were cheap, which was not the case. They rolled my 2500 dining table on the ground to move it. Before traveling to Oakland, he materialized a quote sheet and made some strange offer of only charging me for a half hour drive to Oakland. Ok, whatever... Upon arrival, they took forever unloading to the point where I was helping unload and when all was said and done he charged us roughly $600.00. His reasoning was that because I didn't have a dedicated elevator to carry the move out items in the first apartment, it took much longer than expected. (I did have a dedicated elevator at the new place.) He also tried to sell me furniture and hire someone he knows as a maid. This was a bad experience and I would not recommend this company. I've hired Mike's Moving a number of times and for different types of moving and have had only excellent service regardless of the type of job. I think three times now I've hired Mike's to pick up and deliver appliances or furniture; each instance, the driver and helper were on time, were efficient and cleaned up when it wasn't really part of their job to deal with the wrappings, etc. Last summer we moved to Santa Cruz for six months from the Bay Area and hired Mike's to handle both moves. The moves were completed quicker than expected and the price beat everyone else that I called for estimates. Excellent price & customer service! I called Mike as he had been recommended by a friend. I had multiple pieces of furniture to move and additional pieces to pick up and drop off at 3 different locations - my house, a friend's house, and my father's house. Mike gave me a quote, told me he would send a truck & two men. I could have had same day service but wasn't ready so they came the next day - great response time! Mike arrived w/ his men and a large truck, confirmed what I needed & all the addresses, and made sure his team was careful. For example, they were very careful and gentle removing a large area rug from under an antique Armoire Everything went smoothly. His moving team was very attentive and extremely helpful. our experience was good enough for five stars. we rented a uhaul track and two movers from Mike's Moving through uhaul's moving help for loading and unloading. Though the guys have stack in a traffic jam and arrived later then I expect they were fast and accurate in their work and we managed to finish in time I expected. I used them about 6 years ago, it was a horrible experience. The first two guys that were sent had to leave because 1 was ill. That was understandable, but then he promised to get someone else out there and I waited until 4pm for them to show up. They covered nothing and there was a hole in the roof of the truck. It began raining that afternoon and my mattress and the T.V. took the brunt of the storm. He dried my mattress out and brought it to me a few weeks later and it was fine. The big t.v. (not a flat screen) we had to haul to a dump. As per the crew: One guy was had the worst body odor ever, the other who we waited so long for because he was at church with his wife and kids that day got my phone number off the work order and began calling to tell me that he "was attracted to me" but would not say who he was for 3 weeks and it was a creepy experience because he not only had my old address where I still stayed for a few month, but he had my new address too. The stinky guy showed up at my house a few times and asked if he could take a shower. He was also interested in some old furniture that I said I was giving away. Using a ball point pen, he wrote something on a single sheet of paper on top of a pine table, the number is scratched so hard onto the table that it still shows. All the signs were there, I should have cancelled when the guys went home sick. I would not use them again if they offered to work for free. read more
