The Chimney Fixers - Turned out beautiful!

The Chimney Fixers

We hired this company in late winter/early spring to tell us whether the gas log fireplace in a…read morehome we purchased could be converted to a wood-burning fireplace, and if so, to make the conversion. Also, to either repair or replace the back wall of the fireplace as the imitation masonry wall had split. They told us it could be converted and ordered a replacement back wall of sheet metal. They made the conversion. When preparing for the next winter, we checked our propane tank and it was completely empty. We had had it filled in the spring and had not used it at all. We contacted the propane company to check our gas lines and they found that the gas line that terminated behind the fireplace for the gas logs had been cut (actually bent until it broke) when the fireplace was being converted. It had not been capped! A gas line connection had also been bent which caused another leak. Had the leaking gas caught on fire due to us making a fire in the fireplace it could have burnt our house down! Not to mention the hundreds of dollars in lost propane, the metal piece has no feet or anything else to keep it from falling over. We have to shove the firewood grate up against it to keep it from falling over. To beat all that, when I tried to send a certified letter, return receipt to the registered agent for their company, it was returned as the company had moved. I wouldn't trust this company to do ANY work of ANY kind - ever!

Our first encounter was with Elias, who thoroughly inspected and offered his expertise on design and what to expect. He was honest and didn't rush us or give us unreliable expectations. Initially, we just wanted a wood stove inserted into the "hole" where the old fireplace was. He kindly explained that this wasn't possible without dropping out the prefab FP, along with cutting out stone for proper clearance. Fast forward, Elias found that we had an old chimney to the left side of the unit that spanned from basement to third floor and out the roof. Long story short: in order to make this happen, we had to demolish the entire unit. We chose our stove and the flooring. Next appointment was demolition! Walks in Ben! This guy was the real deal! He was professional and courteous, but what we admired most was that he was honest! This wasn't the usual slam dunk job. Our house was built in 1980. Once demolished, we found all kinds of issues that needed addressing. The builder cut up the hardwood floor to meet the old FP, so there were odd gaps, the old side chimney was in the way! At first, Ben built out too far. We weren't happy. No worries! He came back, removed the frame and backing and built tightly around the chimney column. Throughout the entire process, they made certain all work was done to code! The initial quote never changed, even though wrenches were thrown in. What seemed like a nightmare, this company turned into a dream! They exceed our expectations and then some. I would highly recommend this company, as well as their employees and subs. Absolutely stellar job! Thank you Chim-Chimney for making our dream come to life.

Before he left he said I had to pay 99.00 him for the quote before he left. He said they would deduct it from the bill if I gave them the job. If I had know that ahead of time I would have moved on. I called 2 other companies and they didn't charge a fee. They both gave me a quote for the same work for nearly half the cost. Needless to say, I hired Alligiance Chimney & they did a fantastic job. Never again will I call Chim Chimney. I felt tricked & taken advantage of.

After severe storms rolled through my area over the past two months, my roof sustained enough…read moredamage to require a full replacement. I filed a claim with my insurance company, and Jagris, Inc. came highly recommended as a contractor. From the very beginning of the process, they exceeded my expectations. I've only filed two insurance claims in my life, this one and one a few years ago for an AC unit that was damaged by lightning, and navigating the paperwork can be overwhelming. Thankfully, Jagris and, specifically, JT Trousdale, made this experience smooth and worry-free. JT was professional, knowledgeable, and patient. He walked me through the entire insurance process, breaking down the complex jargon in the adjuster's report and helping me understand what to expect at each stage. There was never a moment when I felt unsure or alone in the process. Once the claim was approved, the contract between me and Jagris was clearly written, being simple, transparent, and free of the confusing fine print that is often found in home repair agreements. Next came the selection of shingles and options. I opted for a ridge roof upgrade, and the final result is fantastic. It not only looks great but will also help keep the house cooler. Jagris made the whole planning phase seamless. The day before installation, Jagris placed protective barriers around the house to prevent debris from causing damage and to facilitate easier cleanup. The installation crew arrived promptly at 6:30 AM. They were professional, organized, and experienced. Before starting, they walked the perimeter of the house to move any items that might be in the way, and they even covered the outdoor AC unit to protect it. I let them work, occasionally stepping outside to check in and offer cold drinks. Not that I would have minded, but no one asked to come inside the house. I was amazed by their work ethic and the speed at which they completed the job. By the end of the day, both the main house and the detached garage had brand-new roofs. The cleanup process was just as impressive as the installation itself. While it's nearly impossible to catch every single roofing nail, they did an outstanding job. I found only a few nails in the driveway, which is a testament to their attention to detail. Since then, I've mowed the lawn and done yard work without running into any issues. Jagris, Inc. is a company that delivers on its promises. Their professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care for their customers set them apart. I'll be using Jagris for any future roofing needs, and I recommend them without hesitation. JT, thank you for your dedication and support throughout this process, and Semper Fi, sir. Thank you for your service.

I don't appreciate you telling your employees that they can ignore my "no soliciting" signs because what they're offering is a "free" promotion. When a business makes me come to the door to listen to a pitch, it's soliciting. I put up my "no soliciting" signs because when I'm having a bad day with my health issues, it's a serious struggle to answer the door. Plus, I never can afford whatever is being pitched anyway. The "no soliciting" sign saves me the physical struggle and saves your business some time. Please tell your employees to respect homes that have posted "no soliciting" signs, even when they're pitching a "free" promotion.
