Talked with A lady named Heather, really nice and said they have some great options. We took a trip, ( a bit of a drive side note: realy lovely scenery! Don is the reason people despise car salesman. Bought a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition from him…read moreand my first look and test drive was in a heavy rain. After taking delivery I noticed multiple paint bubbles in many places. These were not visible because of the rain. Don never once mentioned them. I called several body shops and found out that was very common with that year because Jeep used aluminum for the doors. The cost to replace the doors was $6,000. Don shuddered at that and had "his people" look at it. They relayed they could re-spray the affected areas but eventually the bubbles would return. This problem became irrelevant because the Jeep broke down twice in two weeks. As in, dead. As in, having it towed to the garage he uses in Bridgeport. Cutting to the end of this awful experience, he ended up taking back the 2018 (which had major engine problems and was in the shop for weeks) and finding me a 2021 Wrangler Willys edition. He said it had 20,000 miles on it. When I arrived to look at it had 27,000 miles on it. It also had mud terrain tires on it which were extremely loud. I had a set of 20 inch wheels and tires I had intended on putting on in the summer, but asked if he'd have them swapped out. His response was, "why don't you just let me put leather in it (interior) and keep the wheels and tires that are on it?" 1. The 20 inch wheel and tire set were far more expensive than the leather seat covers he offered. 2. Not swapping out the tires totally defeats the purpose of why I wanted to change them. The point being is that the 20's looked extra sharp on the Sahara edition and he was trying desperately to keep them to build value on what would be a hard sell in the future. That is Don in a nutshell. Always looking to get over, take advantage, do whatever he can to spend as little as possible to fix the problem while trying to get as much money out of you as he can. Further proof: During the three week period it took to fix the situation I was given three loaner vehicles. All of them were filthy, with the last one smelling so bad I had to roll the windows down on the way home and get an air freshener in order to drive it. It took ten days to find the 2021 Wrangler and would have taken more had I not called him repeatedly to ask what was going on. For this he got angry and told me "he was working on it." Translation: He needs to find another one that is more expensive to get more money out of the deal. Which is exactly what he did. The 2021 he sold me was financed at $48,500. It wasn't until later that I realized that he had ME pay the taxes on BOTH vehicles. Keep in mind this was after I threatened to sue because it was obvious it was taking so long to find the next Jeep, to which he became enraged and blamed me for not being patient enough (?!) and told me the name of his attorney. So after questioning the high price of a three year old Jeep, he responded with "nothing holds its value more than a Jeep Wrangler" and "come back in a couple years and we'll find you something else." Then he closed his doors PERMANENTLY. Knowing the more miles I put on the 2021 the more it depreciated I reluctantly traded it in to a dealership and was ten grand upside down leaving me with the highest payment I've had and will ever have in my life. I will admit that I had bought a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Don ten years prior and after two months the entire transmission failed. He covered the cost of replacement, and that's what brought me back. He got over on me, I'll admit that. High pressure, shady vehicles, terrible response to the problems HE caused and as others have mentioned in their revues his flying into a rage when questioned or forced to work on YOUR timetable. Don is a large man and thinks he can bully and intimidate people and when that doesn't work he plays the victim while doing the absolute minimum to fix the problem. He is the definition of "shady car salesman" and I'm not surprised to see so many similar reviews. But I also believe in karma, and boy, when it comes back to him all bad things will be justified.

We cannot thank this business enough for their service and commitment to our needs…read more During covid. We needed to see our mom. Who lives in bay city. Rather than fly, we drove across the country in our 5th wheel and ram 3500. Somehow we ending up here at Schaefer and Bierlein because our truck was due for a service. All the fluids etc They did a bang up job at a fair price Fast forward a week. We noticed a leak in my moms driveway. So we took it back and they rearranged their schedule and took a look and found out there was a slipped and broken gasket buried behind the timing cover that had nothing to do with the service (they just changed fluids). We were heading further east to see our daughter and having our truck in the shop for a week would have cancelled our trip to see her. We have not seen her in almost a year So they scrambled and called on a recent retiree that had years of experience working on Cummins engines. The master mechanic came out of retirement for a day and had us beckon the road in 1 day vs a week Just so you know. Without their dedication. And hustle. we would not have been able to see our daughter in new York. Their staff represent everything that is right about business and family We do not see this much today. It's refreshing to be on the customer side of this experience and will not be forgotten For any future needs No matter where we are in this country. I will work through This dealership.

Ben Weirauch, a Service Advisor, immediately greeted us and told us what was wrong. He said he would get it into the service area right away and get it fixed. We have NEVER received this type of exemplary customer service anywhere. Ben was professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and should be commended for his outstanding service for us today. Many thanks! I'm repeating a review that I posted on Google because it's too lengthy to retype…read more Our car was picked up for service on April 2nd and we didn't get it back until April 7th. They gave us a loaner and we were locked out of it on a Saturday morning, called the dealership and they said that if we could get there by 4:00 pm we could pick up a duplicate key. We live in Grand Haven and we were in Holland. I called AAA and waited in pouring rain until we finally we got it opened. When they picked up our car I gave the driver a list of items that I wanted done. Check the alignment, rotate and balance the tires, change the wiper blades, and find out why the touch screen flips upside down and backwards( i sent them pictures of the screen since it only happens once and awhile) and why when I try to change radio stations the presets on the screen goes completely end of the presets. When tbe vehicle was completed they said the touch screen was "NORMAL". I complained. After I told Soloman that it wasn't normal he told me to call my friends at Ford then and ask them what was wrong. To save time I got the car back after paying $525. I checked the touch screen and no difference. So since I worked in Ford Powertrain design and development I DID call Lincoln and was told that there was a TSB being issued for both of my touch screen complaints and I was given the number. Two days after that I got a notice from Lincoln saying that as soon as they identified a fix they would called the vehicles affected in for repair. I guess it wasn't normal --was it?? Then two days ago. I got suspicious about the other work They had done and checked the oil two days ago and found that the crankcase oil had been overfilled. The oil level was about 3/4" obove maximum fill on the dipstick. I took it to my closest Ford dealer and had them change the oil again. I guess they think I like paying twice for something they should do right the first time. My gosh changing oil is mechanics 101. Lastly i checked my tires and when they rotated them they never readjusted the air pressure. There was 38 psi in the rear tires and 42 psi. In the front, just the opposite of what they should be. Obviously they rotated tires front to back and never readjusted the pressures. I fixed that myself. La Fontaine really ought to close the service department doors. When we bought the car it needed service work done and we had trouble getting a hild of anyone until I went there in person. Thy said they had just bought the dealership vand the service department was in somewhatr of a disarray. It's two years later and they still tried to give me the same excuse. I 'm even considering getting rid of the Aviator because I can't get good service from them and the nearest alternative dealer is in Kalamazoo. Buy somewhere else. The so called owner answered my Google review saying that they were aleays trying to improve and to call or email the Service Manager. See the result below. Update: the response to this post from the "owner" was bogus. I called the phone number 4 times and I got a message that the phone number was incorrectly dialed and could not be completed. I sent an email to the address given and got no response. They are not interested in satisfying anyone. My opinion: Don't buy from these people because they appear to be incapable of servicing what they sell and appear to be unwilling to make it right.
