We used Mike the Plumber for a variety of projects over the years, including most recently, the repair of an outdoor spigot. They always do excellent work. I like using this company alot. First, they always show up when they say they will. Second, their plumbers know what they're doing. Third, their guys have pointed out a couple of potential issues along the way which weren't part of the original scope of work, but nonetheless were pretty helpful to know as a homeowner. I know that pointing out issues is kind of like upselling, but it actually didn't come across as upselling because there wasn't any pressure to do the work. And that information you get is pretty helpful. The only downside to working with them is the price. They are by far the most expensive plumber I've worked with in the area. I kid you not, one time I got an estimate from them and as I reviewed their email in the middle of a Zoom call, I literally said out loud "holy fucking shit bro" not realizing my mic was on, which was a bit embarrassing. That said, I later agreed to the proposal because nobody else was available as fast. So yeah their availability and their quick response time is definitely important to me. I don't always use Mike's, sometimes they get undercut on price by a company that can come out quickly. But I know that when I do hire them, I will be in good hands, though with a lighter wallet. My property manager, and I hired this company to replace our hot water heater on my rental property. While this plumber was there replacing our hot water heater, they gave the tenant an estimate to repair the drain in the tub which I knew nothing abut. Then they billed me for it. They never called my property manager, or myself, to ask if they could do an additional estimate while at my property. I was shocked. Companies cannot go around doing estimates, if there is a fee, without permission from the property owner. This company is shady. They threatened to send me to collections if I did not pay the estimate fee. I have never had a bad mark on my credit. This was really scary. No additional work was done. The plumber was currently at my property doing the work I already paid them to do. They simply walked into the next room and gave the tenant an estimate for a problem I was not made aware of. They made no attempt to call me or the property manager to ask if they could do an additional estimate. This company should not be in business. This truly seems like illegal activity. Can you imagine if they went around and did this to every landlord? They might be doing it to others, just like they did this to me. In addition, I already paid them $1,723 to replace the hot water heater, to include permits. At the end of it, they told me that I had to print the permit paperwork to bring and meet the inspector at the house. I was blown away because I paid them to do the permit work, and they were asking us to do this part of the work for them. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company in my 15 years of real estate. They charged me $75 for the unrequested & unapproved estimate, but the amount of emotional stress they put me, my property manager and our tenant through is priceless. read more

I have used Mike the Plumber a couple of times and I have to say they are a professional and honest outfit if somewhat pricey. They come on time. They are friendly and knowledgeable. The first time they came out for a shower that was making noises. The plumber opened up the faucet and it turned out the cartridge needed to be replaced. This is what we suspected since our handyman had also looked at it. Unfortunately, the plumber didn't have the correct cartridge with him so we had to schedule a second appointment. Their minimum service charge is about $140 (or close to it). The plumber on the first visit was there about 20 minutes and wanted to charge us about $175 but when I objected he dropped it back to the minimum charge. They came back a few days later and finished the job. I ended up paying for another visit and the total charge for both visits for changing out the cartridge was over $400. The second time I had Mike the Plumber come was after we found a big puddle of water in our kitchen near the sink. We were worried there was a leak. Mike the Plumber came out promptly and checked everything. Unfortunately, they couldn't find a source of the leak. It was about a 25 minute visit and so I paid the minimum charge of $150. The gentleman that came said he would try and get the fee reduced since he couldn't find anything (he offered this - I didn't complain about the price or ask for any fee reduction). He called his office but they were unwilling to reduce the fee. In summary, Mike the Plumber is a professional if pricey outfit. I don't know what other plumbers charge but Mike seems to be at a premium. They definitely provide quality service. I guess you get what you pay for. I will likely continue to use him in the future. read more

I contacted Mike the Plumber because my toilet bowl when flushing would gurgle, fill up with water, then slowly drain. I spoke with Nicole from the company and we discussed pricing for snaking the drain, and also the potential of having to remove the toilet if the snaking didn't work (best case scenario and worst case). Nicole sent me over an estimate invoice which I agreed too and the next day an appointment was set between 2p-5p. On the day of the appointment, I received a text stating the technician was enroute and would be here shortly. The tech arrived and was able to unclog my toilet with just a snake. I was VERY pleased with their Professionalism, handling of my issue, and a invoice price I found to be very fair. We had a very good experience with this company. We had a leak in one of the toilets. My husband is handy, but this was beyond his skill set. We called Mikes based on seeing other Yelp reviewer's positive comments. We were able to get an appointment within a couple days at a convenient time. We were given a two hour window. The plumber showed up on time -- first we got an automated call to say he was on his way; this was followed by a text message notifying us, as well. He came with all the necessary equipment to do the repair and complete the job. Luckily, it didn't take the amount of time we thought it would. We were able to pay with a credit card. We received an email of the detailed invoice showing that we had paid. I'm sure we will use this company again in the future for any of our plumbing needs. Emergency service was needed when I snapped the spigot off the main line going into my house. Mike informed me of his $174 emergency service fee on the weekend, so I was completely at his mercy for that. He also asked me to send a photo and he quoted me $250 for the job, I had no idea what amount of work, parts or labor would be required. Aaron showed up and commented the job was easy, I guess it was, it only took him 15 minutes to complete the work. I asked him if he could adjust the price of the job, he informed me that the company does not allow him to alter or adjust any quotes. I called Mike to see if he would adjust fees for service, he didn't take my call, let's see if he responds to my message. Follow up- Mike is non negotiable, said he quoted the job and I accepted, I never signed anything or agreed to that price, thought it was an estimate. I wish I'd gone with another plummer that was going to come over, only $149 emergency weekend fee and I'll bet he would've been fair. I would not recommend Mike's business, he's out to line his pockets with your money. read more

I received a letter from the City of Delray Beach which demanded that I install a "backflow prevention assembly". Not knowing what that was I called a plumber and was quoted $1200.- Wanting a second quote, I was referred to Mike. Mike stopped by and noticed that I was residential and not commercial and it may not be required. On his own, he called the City of Delray and spoke with the water department. He was correct and I didn't need the device installed. Not only did he save me $1200.- where others may have taken advantage and installed it anyway, he did it on his own without being asked out of kindness and professionalism.
