Honestly I tried to order online from a few wholesale glass shops. I googled internet wholesale and thought that has to be the cheapest option.. But was annoyed at how the long wait would be to have my glass tabletop delivered. 2 to 3 weeks. I was also scared the measurement wouldn't be right. How do they know where the racetrack slants are? The standard racetracks are 44x84. My primary use is without one slab shrinking the measurement. So I googled local glass people. And Mike the Glazier came up. I got a quote that was lower than the internet price. So figured why not. They gave me a sheet of paper to draw my exact table dimension. And I brought it back same day at around 2pm. Next day I get a call at about 9am. It was ready! Next day glass tabletop versus 2 weeks internet. They helped me load it into my car and even gave me the circle things to hold the glass top, which I was originally going to order from Amazon for $7. Finished product is gorgeous and cheaper than the web shops. I saved nearly $200 plus $7 on the circle holder things. And I get it 2 to 3 weeks earlier that online So here's to ordering local versus online. Who knew your local shop was more price and time competitive than online. A while back someone smashed the quarter glass on my car and I had been driving around ghetto style with a trash bag taped over the hole. We required an interior door glass pane to be repaired ASAP and with a few strokes via email, I was able to get an estimate and have a local technician at my home within the hour. These guy's are a ripoff. I had called the company that installed my Bow windows to repair a broken panel. They recommended these guy's. I called the flushing location and was told for the size of the glass it would be $300.00 unless I brought it them. If I did that it would be $90.00 less. I ask that they come out. When I gave them my address they told me I needed to call the Mineola office. When I did the price went to $350.00, because they get a higher premium. Needless to say I was not happy with the two prices. So I did a little research on Home Advisor and found a source that would come out and provide a free estimate. I am always wary of contractors because 90% of them are shady, try to get more money from you, do a shitty job, and never come on time. mike the glazier was completely the opposite-i was thinking something negative would happen but no, amazing. They answered my initial emails regarding estimates and answered my phone calls (and even called me back). I made an initial appointment to get my cracked glass balcony door looked at-came exactly on time! The estimate given to me via email was around the same as what was given to me in person. I gave a check deposit and had new glass ordered. Told it would take 1-2 weeks. Scheduled another appointment once the glass came in. Came on time again and replaced my cracked balcony. They came and did the job quickly and efficiently. My door now looks brand new. I went with this company because they were reputable, etc. They mismeasured my door, installed it somewhat incorrectly and than did a sloppy job trying to cover the mistake. I had them come out 2x to check on it and fix. Management prided themselves on being a 4th generation business and in the end, didn't offer anything to fix what was their mistake to begin with. I expect the experts to tell me what my options are and what I would need. Definite a poor job and totally regret using this business. Do yourselfs a favor, if you have a inkling that a job wasn't done right, refuse it and insist that it be done to your standards. Work finally completed on our picture frame window. Mike the Glazier called providing a visit date when measurements could be completed so picture window thermopane glass could be ordered then installed. Measurement appointment completed and a return visit was scheduled for actual install. During date of install the replacement glass was completed by Xavier during the end of the work day (we had a 9am to 12noon timeframe however Xavier from Mike the Glazier was running late). It definitely takes expertise to complete this type repair as removing the inside molding was nowhere documented even on YouTube. Was hoping to save a few bucks however the securing molding appeared impossible to remove at least for this homeowner. Definitely not a type of job for even a very handy homeowner as it requires a industrial type suction cup tool to safely handle removal and replacement. Total time to complete the replacement thermopane glass was under a hour. Points to note: definitely contract this type job out...accurate measurement of replacement glass is "on the contractor", availability of tools typically not typically available to the average homeowner, haulaway of broken glass and cleanup covered by agreed upon cost of repair. Moral of the story, double hung windows can be brought to the shop by homeowner if you wish to save a few bucks while you wait, contract picture frame window repairs out to the experts, and finally when you renovate think twice about purchasing picture windows....they cost 4x to replace broken glass at today's current pricing for repairs. If you wish to save money on double hung window pane replacements bring the window to Mike the Glazier and wait at the facility while they make the repairs. You can then re-install the sash and have the repair completed the very same day. It is not that difficult to re-install the bottom sash back into the window opening. FYI, during this repair it would be a perfectly good time to clean and lube the spiral balance, replace any worn or broken pivot shoes and pivot bar. Pivot show replacement will require the use of a spreader however if you need to service a minimum of three or more windows the tool will pay for itself after this use. I've been purchasing all my window parts from swisco.com for years and they are even cheaper than eBay! Mike The Glazier is now in my address book and rolodex! Finally, parking at Mike The Glazier's Northern Blvd location is absolutely horrible so bring a friend to sit in the car while you conduct repair business with Vic or Chad! read more

So a day prior my front driver side window shattered while I was driving, and I needed a new window as soon as possible as I park on the streets of NYC. I first contacted this shady spot "D&D Auto Glass" and they gave me a decent quote. But they royally screwed me over because the glass that they claimed they had in stock was not the right glass for my car. This happened twice with this place (with my previous car too.) Long story short D&D is terrible stay away. But Mike and the guys are awesome, they quoted me for the glass and it was cheaper than D&D and they were able to get it done within 2 hours of contacting them. Flawless install, took them 30 minutes and I was out of there. I ended up tipping the guy who installed the glass for me the difference I saved from the other place. I was that happy about it. I recently had to replace the front windshield of my car. I called around for prices and found that not only was Mike The Glazier competitively priced, the man on the phone was pleasant and courteous. (A different shop I called was a disgrace. The guy at this other place provided a stark contrast to MTG.) I was able to bring my car into their shop and had everything done while I waited. I think the entire process was approximately 2 hours or so. And while I was waiting I witnessed something that impressed me and makes me want to recommend MTG even more so. A man had called about getting a window pane replaced. he then showed up with the actual frame and glass still in the frame. He was initially quoted a price over the phone, which he agreed to pay. He was on his way out of the shop after dropping off the frame, when the owner stopped him and said he was lowering the price because the glass he needs wasn't going to cost as much as he first thought over the phone. How often does one replace shattered glass windows? That said, I felt completely informed of my options (eg., the price difference between the thickness of the glass which is significant).
