This is an update on my review on 01/06/2025. Mike Smith contacted me a few days after my original review and put me in touch with the new body shop manager. This just so happened while a snowstorm hit Niagara & Erie County. There was a shakeup in the Bodyshop during this time and I still couldn't get my Buick into the shop. Three weeks later they got me in and gave me a 2025 loaner vehicle which was really nice vehicle, a Terrain Elevation. It didn't have all of the features as the Buick Envision but it would be a vehicle that I'd recommend to anyone considering it and would think about the Terrain if I needed another vehicle. Kyle in the Bodyshop did an excellent job getting my Buick looking brand new again. I am happy to know the Bodyshop is back to running with competent workers. I never post reviews but today I have never been so upset and disrespected while at a place of business. my experience started on Tuesday 4/8 when I called the service dept to get my new gmc Acadia in for service due to a transmission leak. I spoke with Brandon and he set me up with an appointment on Friday at 8am. I explained the situation to him with my vehicle and he said that it should be towed in and he gave me the number for Gm roadside assistance to get the car towed. it was towed to Mike Smith and it arrived at 6pm on Tuesday night. Forward to Friday afternoon I called the dealership around 4pm and spoke to Brandon about a status on my car since I didn't hear from them and they were getting ready to close for the day. He seemed confused when I called, he put me on hold the. a few minutes later he said that the bolts in the torque converter backed out and that was causing the transmission leak. He said that they had to be ordered. I asked about a loaner since we have been without a car for almost a week now and he said that they had 2 coming back on Monday and he would let me know. I then asked him if the car was ok to drive and he said he didn't recommend it due to the fluid loss. I asked if they saw any damage to the transmission when they looked at it and he said no and that they didn't see any metal shavings on the filter. I thanked him and he said that my advisor would be in contact on Monday. Forward to Saturday, I get a call from my service advisor around 120pm asking about my car snd why it was at the dealership. So I asked if the car had been looked at and she said no and that they had no clue why it was there. I explained the entire situation to her about what the other advisor said to me about the car and she was very polite and apologetic. I then asked to speak to the service manager and I was told that he was not available. I took a drive to the dealer as I had other errands to do out that way, I walked into service and asked for the manager and the advisor said she would get the sales manager. Mike Smith the owner came out and when I explained the situation to him and he was totally dismissive and said we're not doing this. He would not hear me out and tried to push me out rather than deal with my issue. He did say that I was free to take the car elsewhere and then he walked away. I don't know what kind of business he is trying to run but I have never felt so disrespected. read more

I'm from Illinois, was 600 miles from home and the front differential on my truck started going out making my truck unsafe to drive. I happened to find Mike's dealership to be walking distance from the hotel I found to book a room in. Which was convenient because I needed a home base before finding a dealership to take my 2003 GMC Yukon Denali to because I KNEW the part would have to be ordered before it could get fixed. I saw the dealership and drove straight there before checking into my hotel. Vanessa checked me in and said they had "just redone the floors and were busy, but if I wanted to leave my truck there, she'd try and squeeze me in tomorrow." So on Monday, July 29th at 1:00 PM I left my truck there. I also made it clear to Vanessa that I was having to pay for the hotel room while waiting for my truck to be fixed and it was extremely important that I find out what was going on ASAP so I could decide IF I should pay for the hotel room for a COUPLE MORE days, OR rent a car to drive home and leave my truck with them for a week or so. Tuesday rolls around and I understand mechanics being busy so I waited until noon to call and see if anyone had looked at my truck yet. The gentleman who answered the phone asked for my vehicle information and proceeded to tell me that my truck was NOT at his dealership. I asked him if his dealership was right next to my hotel (which it WAS) and he replied by saying "no, we're off of highway whatever and route whatever." He said "maybe your vehicle is at the Lincoln dealership down the street?" I said NO! I own a GMC, I don't exactly know where I am because I'm 600 miles from home, and I'm CERTAIN I brought my truck to your dealership! He put me on hold, came back on the phone and said "no, your truck isn't here." I told my 18 year old daughter who was with me that we had to walk over there RIGHT NOW! By the time we got down in the lobby of our hotel, Vanessa called me back assuring me that my truck WAS indeed at their dealership and "they are STILL looking at it and haven't diagnosed the problem yet." I AGAIN reiterated that time was of the essence in my determining IF I should pay for the hotel room for a couple more days or rent a car to go home. She assured me that she would talk to the guys in the shop and get me an answer. I called Vanessa around 3:00 PM and she told me that they "are open until 7:00 tonight." I said that's nice but I really NEED to know what's going on with my truck. I'm in limbo over here having to extend the time I'm staying at this hotel while waiting for the diagnosis of my truck. She assured me she would get back to me, personally, by the end of the day. When I hadn't heard back by 5:30, I walked over to the repair shop and asked for Vanessa. The gentleman in the shop told me "she's gone for the day." I asked if my truck had been looked at. He replied "nope. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been looked at because it hasn't moved from its parking spot all day." He then looked through some paperwork and said "nope, I don't even see the paperwork for it here." Needless to say, I blew up! I asked who the shop manager was and asked for his business card and what time they opened tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. He gave me the shop manager's information and I told him I would be "sitting in their waiting room as soon as they open up tomorrow morning and I'm going to stay there until SOMEONE looks at my truck!" Wednesday morning, 15 minutes after opening time, I get a call from Vanessa telling me "yes, your front differential is bad and needs to be replaced. The part will be in on Friday." I THEN tell her "that's nice that the part will be in on Friday but when will my truck actually BE fixed?" She then says "not until Monday." So, basically it took literally less than 15 minutes to hook my truck up to the diagnostic machine and come back to me with what I knew was wrong 3 days ago. Oh, and they didn't have a loaner car for me to use, so my daughter and I were stuck in the hotel with no transportation while waiting on the dealership to let us know what was going on. So, on top of having to extend my hotel stay to 8 days ($1,400), I also had to rent a car ($340) from the rental car place that's across the street from the hotel so that my daughter and I could buy groceries and not be stuck at the hotel the entire time we were waiting on my truck. There's MUCH more to this story but I'm limited on characters. My daughter and I DID get home safely but the truck still isn't right and being forced to rent a car AND pay for an extended hotel stay cost me $4,170 including the truck repair. read more

While traveling out of state, and not knowing where to turn when we were having some car troubles, I stopped into the Mike Smith Buick GMC dealership for assistance. I was early, even before they opened, but the service manager took down the information and they gave me a ride back to my apartment with the understanding that they would see what they could find and get back to me as soon as they could, even though they were booked for the day with other reservations. Within 2 hours, they called me back and had the driver come get me. They had found the problem, and repaired it and we were back on the road again, with full assurance that my car was back in tip top shape. Thanks, Mike Smith Buick GMC for your attention to detail, even with one you didn't have any experience with before and may never have again. But if we are back in your neighborhood again, and need anything, I wouldn't hesitate to go to your establishment. read more

Upon arriving for my appointment for a NYS Safety Inspection on my 2017 Infiniti, I was greeted with a warm smile from Linda. She did a quick walk around of my vehicle to get some basic information and when she came back to the service desk she thanked me for my military service!!! (I have Persian Gulf Veteran plates on my vehicle). After approximately a 25 minute wait in the very comfortable customer lounge, my inspection was complete. I believe from now on, I'll go to Mike Smith for all my vehicle needs, plus I wont have to fight the traffic on Transit in Williamsville and Clarence. Rich from the service department is awesome! I am new to the East Coast (used to live in SF), so I am not used to driving in crazy snow conditions. At first, I thought my brakes were failing. They started making a grinding noise and shook the whole car every time I stopped. Rich was kind enough to see my car last minute and after showing him what was happening, he basically told me that my ABS is kicking in. He was so nice to show me how to operate my car in icy conditions (even though I know he was really busy) and how to drive through super slippery roads. He took my car in the adjacent parking lot and basically drove really fast to show me how to drive my car in super icy conditions. This isn't even part of his job description! He didn't charge me anything since he didn't do any work on my car. You can really tell he is an honest service tech who won't try to charge you if there's nothing wrong with your car. I really like finding honest mechanics/service techs because they are really hard to find nowadays. I tried to tip him for giving me snow-driving-101-lessons but he wouldn't accept it. I hope good karma goes his way because his pointers definitely helped me drive in a blizzard from Buffalo, NY to Boston, MA. read more

Great service department. Upon arrival was greeted and my appointment was confirmed. Signed the paperwork for the oil change and tire rotation. Was shown the waiting area. Grabbed a cup of coffee and sat in the comfortable chairs to wait for my Terrain to be done. Took less than an hour and I was on my way. You are able to watch the shop from the coffee stand and the entire building is kept clean even during a heavy snow storm. When my vehicle was ready, I was taken to the cashier and made my payment. They gave me a couple pieces of chocolate and wished me happy holidays. Overall, a positive experience that I would recommend to anyone. Even if you don't own a GM vehicle or bought/leased yours elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately my issue was hard to diagnose, I brought it in to be checked due to power concerns- the battery was okay and the key fobs were reprogrammed. the issue happened again and I brought it in to be checked again and they were very helpful to me through the stress of having to go to work- providing a vehicle so I could carry on while they fixed my car. Yes, this is long winded, but there was no short way to put it, so apologies in advance. I bought a used 2014 Sierra 1500 SLT Crew in mid-December 2019 with about 50K on it. The truck was absolutely beautiful, that is until the paint started falling off the doors and other areas where the body work has tight bends in it. The truck is White Diamond Tri-Coat which was one of GM's sharpest colors until they discontinued it. As if the paint falling off the truck without any corrosion whatsoever contributing to the failure, there's more. Within the first few months, the leaf springs are making an awful racket. Brandon, the service underwriter at the time, tells me there's extended coverage for 2014 leaf springs but mine isn't covered. Months later when putting the truck into 4LO, the mirrors tilt like I'm in reverse, the seat goes all the way down and back, and when the cruise is set sometimes when hitting the turn signals, the cruise will be shut off. Last week, I began getting codes for the fuel system being too rich. Being a maintenance mechanic myself, I delved into the issue. It was a bad seal on the high-pressure fuel pump. Which in turn was shooting fuel into my crank case and turning my oil that was just changed in the last month pitch black. Within days, I have a high pitched squealing noise coming from the torque converter. So after conversations with my fiance, we decided it was time to part ways with the truck and look into newer (2018+), Yukon XL's. I get there today and asked for Marcus, the used car sales manager, who is of course busy as soon as he hears I'm coming in for an issue. I was however fortunate enough to work with Walt, who we purchased an Acadia from for my fiance two years ago. Walt was, and still is, fantastic to work with. He was in disbelief about the paint issues and the lack of response I received from the paint shop. I watched him physically walk to the paint building to see if the manager was there to show him my issue, but he wasn't in. Again, Walt is FANTASTIC. After discussing what type of vehicle I was in search of, Marcus takes my truck for a test drive like he did when I traded in my last 2014 Sierra to them. After seeing him careening the corner coming into the lot practically on two wheels (Yes, exaggeration.), he has Walt run me through the usual questions. I reluctantly, in a bid to be decent and hopefully receive some reciprocation, tell them the remaining balance on my loan. Marcus gets the information and comes back with this offer. Half of what I paid for the truck 13 months prior, and $6,000 less than what is remaining on the loan. I understand they need to run their business and keep the lights on, but we have bought multiple vehicles from Mike Smith and I wasn't looking for anyone to bend over backwards for me. I was looking to spend another $50K+ on a vehicle, and thought that might be incentive to help a repeat customer out with an issue. So to end my long winded review. Walt is FANTASTIC, almost all of the staff at Mike Smith have been great to deal with. Marcus however, can't be bothered with any issues, once he's signed off a deal, you own it and he CANNOT WAIT for you to trade it back in so he can rake you over the coals. Can't wait to read the generic, copy and paste response Mike Smith will provide for this one star review. read more

Arrived 10 minutes early for 7:30 AM appt. Just a NY inspection & oil change. At almost 9:00, I observed other were being called to pick up their vehicles even though mine was the first in the 'delivery queue' along side the building. Unfortunately, the tech left my paperwork in the front seat instead of taking it to the Service Agent. I was also offered the complimentary wash, after inquiring about scheduling an appt. in their detail shop. My car looked better BEFORE the complimentary wash. They don't dry the vehicle. The windows and car was a mess from water spots! I realize it was just a comp. wash so I don't mind that the bugs on the front of the car remained....but, at least dry the car. Causes me to reconsider scheduling that $200 detail appt. read more

Horrible experience buying a used vehicle. They do not stand by their product or service. Service department mixed the antifreeze types and caused it to gell. They then lied about it and were rude in general. Mike would not take the vehicle back or agree to warranty the condition they caused. After only 15 days of owning the vehicle we had it at their service shop 3 times. They finally agreed to take the vehicle back but the sales manager would only take it back at a trade in whole sale value!! I had the vehicle for 15 days and with an issue they caused and they expected me to loose money turning the vehicle back into them. Not the Mike Smith of old. The newer generation is just out to make a buck and they don't care if you come back at all. Unfortunately I can't give zero stars. read more

My first experience with the dealership was good, or so I thought. It was not until sometime after my service for recall work that I realized the dealership must have broken the WINDOW SWITCH BEZEL in the door console that holds the armrest on because shortly after my service the armrest moves back and forth as the door is opened and closed. I did not take it back right away - MY FAULT DEFINATELY, but when I mentioned this on my next visit to the dealership, they did not take responsibility for the armrest because, "it had been too long of a time span in between the last service and this service and how were they to know for sure if it was someything they did." Normally, I would say yup, they're correct, but the recall work I had done was on the door that required them to replace a switch in the door where they would have accessed the door components thru the armrest that is no longer secured. (I can assure you prior to this, I had no issues with the armrest) And I mean really, who else, myself included, would have a reason or need to go into the door for anything? So not only would they take responsibility, but they didn't even quote me to fix it. I mean I would have considered paying for it, had they given me a quote. Or better yet, how about I pay for the part and they don't charge me labor? Even that would have been somewhat fair because I didn't take it back in a "reasonable timeframe" but nope, they just documented on the paperwork that I said the armrest is not properly secured. They did however, provide the name of the item that needs to be replaced, so I do thank them for that because now I have a name for the item when I call another dealership. read more
