I used Gio and his company, Justin Remodeling, earlier this year to do various upgrades to a home…read morethat I owned in Arlington, VA. This included renovating my kitchen, installing all new flooring in the main level of my house and in the upstairs foyer, updating the master bathroom and guest bathroom and other ad hoc work, such as installing new tile in my laundry room, painting, and installing new light fixtures. Gio provided me with a reasonable quote and timeline to complete the project. He kept me informed about the status of the project the entire time. Throughout the 6-8 week project, Gio sent me pictures so that I could track the work being done and see the progress that was being made. He transformed my outdated dark kitchen into a classic timeless beautiful white kitchen. The cabinets were sanded down and painted white, new white quartz countertops were installed, new kitchen hardware were installed, new appliances were installed, along with a new faucet and kitchen backsplash. Everything was installed on time, done correctly the first time, and in a professional manner. Apart from the kitchen work, I originally had a mix of dark hardwood floors and carpet that were outdated and needed to be replaced. Gio and his team installed all new LVP flooring on the main level and in the second floor foyer. It was done correctly the first time and the floor was level and looked amazing. It definitely brightened the house up and these renovations helped to sell the home quickly when I put it on the market to sell in Spring of 2024. Gio also installed beautiful new tile in my laundry room and helped upgrade my master bathroom by installing new white quartz countertops, faucets, and a light fixture. He upgraded my guest bathroom by installing a new modern tile on the floor, white quartz countertops, faucets, a light fixture, and a new toilet. Gio's pricing for home renovations is fair and he is a reliable, hard worker. If you have any issues with anything, he will fix or repair it until the customer is happy. I highly recommend his home renovation services to others. The quality of his work is impeccable. I was beyond pleased with the renovations done to my home and will continue to use him for home renovations, repairs, upgrades, etc. He can fulfill all your general contracting needs.

He did a quick design for me at our initial meeting and later did an official one to submit to my HOA. I spoke to half a dozen other contractors who all priced about the same for the work. What sold me was Steve's portfolio and how up front he was with everything. Not once did he try to sell my on something I didn't need or go beyond what I was asking for. We decided on a wood deck to match the majority of the homes in our HOA, and because we just like the look better. From the beginning of his crew showing up till the last piece of trash picked up they were extremely friendly and FAST!! They started on a Tuesday and finished by Friday for a 24'x16' deck that was 6' off the ground on uneven ground. Finish product was even better than the graphic design of it. Hands down 100% glad I went with PowerHouse. Even neighbors and friends have already commented on well of job they did and wished their contractor was just as good. If you have any doubts just invite Steve over for a chat and you will see for yourself your money will definitely go the length and you will not be disappointed.

When we decided to build an ADU, we had no idea where to start, but working with Marks-Woods…read moreConstruction was the best choice we could have made. Greg Marks, one of the owners, walked us through what was and wasn't possible with the City of Alexandria's zoning requirements, and explained every step clearly -- a real relief for our first big construction project. His brother Drew Marks, our project manager, visited the site daily, kept everything on schedule, and always kept us in the loop. He responded quickly to every question, and his patience was remarkable. The crew was respectful and left the worksite tidy every day. Now that it's finished, we couldn't be happier. The ADU is beautiful and incredibly functional, and details like the custom cabinetry and thoughtful layout show the care they put into their work. If you're looking for a team that truly cares about their clients and delivers quality, Greg and his crew are the way to go.

In our experience, Marks-Woods Construction LLC are dangerous and dishonest contractors…read more I won't bury the lede: Marks-Woods lit our house on fire and abandoned it to burn, cut a live 240 volt wire and left it exposed in our yard where children play, mis-wired an outlet so that it threw sparks and molten copper onto our attic insulation, and allowed a gas leak to persist in our occupied house for at least a month. They exceeded their three-month contracted timeline by five months and left the project incomplete. If those facts are not enough to convince you of their unsuitability to earn your business, please continue reading. The red flags came early and often: Marks-Woods demanded a HUGE down payment to begin work, which began later than promised and faced delays from the outset. As other reviewers have noted, workers would show up infrequently (initially less than 60% of the time) and do very little work (for example, we caught them napping in our garage, watching videos, and playing with paper airplanes). Marks-Woods' work failed and continues to fail Fairfax County inspections (our deck for example, was built at great expense and not even remotely to code) and of hit-or-miss quality (we could not confirm some of their subcontractors' licenses either). They wasted time and resources via sloppy workmanship (e.g., leaky roof, broken tiles, unlevel floors), failing to follow building plans correctly, and misordering supplies etc. etc. Marks-Woods' communication was erratic and inaccurate regarding scheduling, work to be done, work completed, and invoicing. You can verify in other reviews (note the lack of historical ones on Google: Marks-Woods' business profile suspiciously disappeared for a while) and public court records that they allegedly pull financial shenanigans such as failing to pay their creditors and subcontractors. For our project, they unilaterally (and likely illegally) demanded changes in our payment terms in violation of the contract and created false invoices requesting payment multiple times for the same line items while sprinkling payments among various unrelated line items to help their "cash flow". I could continue our litany of documented complaints ad nauseum and appreciate your reading this far. My only goal is to spare other homeowners from the financial and emotional trauma our family suffered at the hands of Marks-Woods; avoid them: they do not deserve your or anyone else's business.
