I have been renovating our house that was built in 1950's and I am nearly finished. I previously hired All Renovations to update my two upstairs bathrooms with the 1950's tile where they did a superb job. Additionally, All Renovations also built a front door portico addition and a detached two-car garage. Now that I am working on the basement, I decided to go with All Renovations again to update the basement bathroom; and again I am very happy with the results. The basement bathroom was in the laundry room with a washer, dryer, cabinets and a water softener system making it a tight squeeze for the space. Upon viewing the construction options with Adrian of All Renovations, he thought of moving the water softener system to an adjacent hallway closet. This allowed dividing the space into a separate bath with a nearly 3' x 6' shower while maintaining a full laundry room with a utility sink as well. Adrian with his "can do" attitude was a real champ at getting the work done. He also is very detailed with his work and makes sure things are completed correctly - a true compliment to the All Renovations team. If you are considering hiring professionals for your home improvement project, you won't go wrong with All Renovations. I'm a bit puzzled by the owner's response as they should be able to see from their own email system that they had not replied to my last email. Since that email contained critical conditions for repair (see review above), the lack of a reply made it unclear that repairs would be made at all. However, since my review, they reached out directly, gave an explanation for the delay and told me that I had been in the queue for repairs. Unfortunately, since it had already been months since the project finished and I had not received a reply to my last email, I had already begun to handle the warranty issues myself. I appreciated their subsequent offer to reimburse me for my time and effort on warranty repairs and their statement of intention to address the additional claims (which they said that they had not addressed until now as they had hoped to handle them at the same time as the warranty issues). The star rating in this case is for their improved customer service, but the original review for the work on the project remains unchanged. [I also want to address the implication in the owner's response, which is that posting a negative review is only used for dispute resolution. I was not using it for that purpose, as should be evident from the fact that I had moved ahead with repairs, nor do I think that that's a good reason for a review. Sharing experiences is how people learn, and detailed reviews can be useful for homeowners in preparing for home repairs, whether or not they use the reviewed provider. We chose All Renovations to do a whole house paint job and wow! The whole crew was terrific. From taking extra care moving much of our (way too much) stuff, keeping everything clean and neat and leaving it cleaner than they found it to the incredible paint job in a speedier time than I could have imagined and all at a reasonable price! Omar and Adrian helped us to figure out the most space efficient and fluid floor plan (from a somewhat awkward space). Adrian did the work with such great attention to detail and organization. Our basement flooded due to the main water line breaking outside up against the foundation of the house. Pretty much everything was lost and the finished basement had to be totally renovated. We had several contractors come by to give us bids, but only Omar took the time to go over all aspects of the project. His proposal was reasonable and fair and the communication during the project was wonderful. Edwin and his team were onsite everyday as scheduled and they showed great respect for our home by making a point to tidy up after themselves each day. Omar and Adrian from All Renovations are a great team and do excellent, professional work. Omar is the estimator and was on time for his appointment and able to give me a general price range and project schedule on the spot. We talked through the budget and project - including some optional items I wanted done but itemized separately. The proposal was put together well and included price options for different work. Omar responded quickly to changes in the proposal and we were able to put it together to my satisfaction quickly. Compared to other contractors, their estimate was definitely the lowest by far, so we ended up going with them. Even with a few change orders from unforeseen circumstances, the price was still lower than the other proposals we received and within our expected project budget. Due to the small size of the bathroom, Adrian was a one man show. He is very professional and will talk you through unforeseen circumstances as well as give you his advice on different options to address them depending on budget. I never felt pressured to take a high cost change order and he was always willing to give alternative options. We had 2 change orders on the project - one was to move the drain pipe so that the new drain fixture would fit and the other was to reframe a bathroom wall so piping could fit behind it. Otherwise the work proceeded smoothly - it took about 2 1/2 weeks to finish the job (about 13-14 business days). Adrian worked independently mostly - I gave him the keys and went to work as normal. He would be cleaning up when I got home so we got a chance to review the day's work and talk through any issues that came up. The open communication led to a very stress-free project (for me) - it was good to be able to visualize issues that came up and see the project progress. The project area was clean and organized and very little impact on our day to day. I would hire Omar and Adrian again to do any major remodel work in my house. Working with All Renovations on my kitchen remodel has been an excruciating experience and one that I would not wish on my worst enemy. I would not hire them to work on your project unless you have the time and energy to act as your own project manager, defeating the purpose of hiring a contractor, and have extra cash set aside to deal with price hikes and correcting costly mistakes. On the plus side, I will say that everyone at All Renovations (Omar, Mir, Thomas, Mel) has been very pleasant and helpful when you can get a hold of them, but the problem is that they are frequently uncommunicative and are not adept at solving problems. First, let me address the timeline of my project. I was assured that my small kitchen was a "two week job." From the time that I received permission from the condo association until now, as we're negotiating the final punch list, 15 months have elapsed. So, my kitchen probably was a two week job, but those work days were spread over a ridiculous period of time. Getting permission from the condo association took a significant period of time (although All Renovations helpfully encouraged me to do the work without having it approved first, which I was unwilling to do). During this process, the condo association required me to get a new estimate, knowing that the scope of the work had changed somewhat. After asking to have an additional, 5ft., non-load bearing wall removed, All Renovations' estimate increased by 54%. At this point, however, I was stuck and would lose my deposit if I chose not to accept the new terms. In retrospect, I wish I had written off the loss and chosen a new contractor. I had a very difficult time getting All Renovations to work on this project in a timely manner. I got the impression that they were doing too many other jobs to care about mine. At various points in this project, more than three months have elapsed with no contact or update from All Renovations (and four months between instances of work being done). I didn't have a kitchen sink and running water for more than three months at one point and decided to simply pay extra for the counter top installers to bring a plumber, so my sink could be hooked up that day. I knew that if I waited for All Renovations to take care of the plumbing, as was included in the scope of the work they were doing for me, I could be left without running water for another three months. During the course of the project, we ran into several problems. First, we could not use the IKEA cabinets that I'd already purchased and the guys were incredibly helpful in helping me return them. Then, a wall could not be totally removed because of the utility pipes that go to the upstairs condo. All Renovations did not offer any creative solutions to this problem, although they did agree that the solution an architect friend of my proposed was a good one (build an island around it). However, this was yet another example of me needing to be my own project manager, rather than being able to rely on the one that I was paying to handle the renovation. It was a regular occurrence that work would be done without any advance warning (less of a problem when contractors are doing their work on a daily basis, but more of a surprise when they show up every few months). For example, I had no advance warning that they were going to do final demolition on my existing kitchen in January. I had a few dirty dishes in the sink that they helpfully herded into a box for me and I ultimately had to take to a friends' house to wash. Recently, they showed up again with no advance warning, while I had house guests, who were really upset that a stranger had been in the house without first giving me a heads up. Finally, I would not put faith in All Renovations' attention to detail, although I'm glad this was not a problem for others. For example, because of a miscommunication between All Renovations and their designer, I ended up with a sink that was not centered, but on the extreme left of the sink "cut out" in the upper cabinets. This mistake forced me to choose between spending an extra $1,000 on new upper cabinets or living with an asymmetrical design that would have been maddening (I chose to spend the money). More recently, I was told that the work was completed and that I needed to pay my remaining balance, despite the fact that there was a hole in the ceiling from where a light fixture was moved; outlet covers were not reinstalled after some additional electrical work was completed; my range still sticks out from the wall because of a mislocated outlet; and the person who installed the crown molding did not use any filler, so it looks like they've been attacked by termites. This has been a constant theme of the entire renovation: the team at All Renovations has relied on me, someone with no construction experience, to make punch lists and tell them what is outstanding on the project, rather than the other way around. read more

Construction of a detached garage, with a two-car-wide carport bridging between the garage and the house. Omar and Jim were very straightforward about everything (costs and schedules, and changes to each as warranted). Both were quick to respond to requests and questions. While I rate Price as A, since All Renovations did come in as the lowest bidder of the builders responding to my request for quote, remember that this is northern Virginia construction costs, and anything you think of after-the-fact or didn't have clearly established with any builder will result in price escalation. Also expect the unexpected. Final cost over original estimate was a little more than 10%, which is what I expected from the start. It should not be looked upon negatively as it concerns All Renovations. Make sure everything is in order for work outside the scope of All Renovations. I needed a tree root pruning before the foundation could be started, but I didn't have it ready in time as the schedule required. The All Renovations crew needed to clear the roots to keep on schedule, as the arborist wasn't available for another full week due to schedule movement as a result of inclement weather. It cost more for All Renovations to do the root removal so the foundation could be laid, but that is because I didn't have it synchronized ahead of their schedule. read more

I am incredibly pleased with the work from All Renovations. We had them do a ton of work, including removing a powder room that was in the center of the house to open up the kitchen into the family room, create a new bathroom on the other side of the house. The quality of the work was impeccable. Adrian (the foreman) had such a terrific attention to detail. I also appreciated his ability to identify workarounds to unforeseen issues in order to resolve the issues as efficiently and effectively as possible. Another very important factor that sets All Renovations apart from its competitors is their true professionalism, courtesies, and responsiveness. Both Mir and Adrian were both very responsive, and returned my call, text, and emails immediately. I also appreciated that Adrian would always make sure I understood the work he was performing and when asking for my opinion would clearly explain the alternatives and pros and cons of each option. I can't begin to describe how pleased I am with All Renovations. I had a bathroom that was barely usable and in desperate need of a remodel. After dealing with several of the usual flakey contractors for months (not answering/retrurning phone calls, scheduling appointments then not showing up without even calling, promising to email me estimates but then falling off the face of the planet), I was ready to give up. Then All Renovations came through. The foreman always answered my phone calls and text messages, arrived on time, and worked quickly and efficiently. The crew valued my time, were very respectful, and treated my home as if it were their own. The place understandably got a little messy while they were working with tools and material everywhere, but by the time they were ready to leave each day, it was cleaner than before they arrived. As far as the work goes, the bathroom looks beautiful. It's hard to imagine what was there before. It was great to have a contractor that could do it all - new plumbing, floors, fixtures, everything. From observing them, it was obvious that they put a lot of care and effort into the project. Everything was done with a level of meticulousness that I, quite frankly, never expected. We were moving back into the area and Mir was wonderful in working with us through email and phone. We were nervous to have work done while not there to see what was going on but pictures were sent and any concerns were addressed. They made it so easy for us. STAY AWAY!! I hired them to renovate a condo bathroom in Dec. 2010. They tried to justify why they were installing the walls crooked, tiles were poorly spaced, and they failed to follow directions and scratched up the hardwood floors. The job supervisor was often absent and they wound up shaving some $$ off the final bill for their mistakes. They finally redid the wall and "fixed" it. I put "fixed" in quotes there because now....less than 7 years later....I have to redo all the tiles. It was only a couple of years later that the grout started crumbling and then a few more before the walls started flexing. I tried to call them recently and it took three calls to get someone to call me back to see if they would consider working out an arrangement to redo their work for a discount with a general contractor to supervise them that I would pay for. The guy I spoke with said he would let me know some time in November......over a month later. How's that for customer service?! Now we're hiring someone else and it's costing over $6,000 to redo the work of All Renovations. STAY AWAY! If I can post pictures of the job they did, I gladly will. read more

I can't say there were great, but rather they were amazing. We have owned our house for over twenty years and it was time for a kitchen remodeling. Spoke to a few other companies but went ahead with All Renovations after I meet the owner who came out to measure everything. As soon as they started the work they accommodated to every whim we had. They knocked out this job within two weeks and it looks like someone spent months on it. They redid the floors adding the laundry as an added bonus that we did not ask for, all new cabinets, granite counter tops and even helped the appliance guys to move in everything. They did such a great job that we decided to remodel out dated master bathroom. We didn't even get another person to look into it. We scheduled the remodel and like clock work they started. We got a new shower tub that had an issue with the insulation. He didn't hesitate and put brand new insulation in the bathroom wall. He mentioned it and said not to worry about the price it is his way of saying thank you for the second job. Find a contractor that will do that for you. Change the floors, the toilet and a new vanity. To finish the job said pick a color and he will paint it for us. We picked a color and it was done. They spend two days and again i had some requested to change the bathroom and we once didn't hear him say no. He gave us suggestions on his expertise but did whatever we wanted. Love this company. We are about to use them to paint our downstairs living room and put brand new lights in there as well. Not to mention getting a fan in our master bedroom, which I have been asking my wife for years.
