We came here to have a dinner on a Saturday night. When we walked into the restaurant around 7:45 pm, only a few tables were occupied. We were debating between leaving and giving it a chance. The restaurant was about to have a live belly dance show and I wanted to see it. Seems like they offer the show every Friday and Saturday night. The dance show was great. She danced 4 or 5 songs. Different experience to see live while having dinner. My partner and I both tried Arak to drink. Because we never tried any of them, we asked the server's opinion. He pointed out the most popular 2 Arak choices. So, my husband got Batroun and I got Massya. I found Massya smoother to drink, and Batroun had a stronger flavor, especially for the aftertaste. At least, I now know what Arak I like :) We got Kibbe for the appetizer and Quails for the main dish to share. Kibbe was alright. The stuffing was dry. I didn't enjoy it that much. The dipping sauce was good though. Quail was my choice to try. I was going to have it for myself only, but then we changed our minds to share it. I am glad we shared because the portion was big for me; I wouldn't finish it by myself. Quails plate came with 2 perfectly cooked quails, salad, french fries, and rice. I enjoyed everything about the plate. Quails had lots of small bones. So, be ready to use your fingers lol Our server was nice. He checked us multiple times and asked about our opinions about the food and drink. Also, the manager (or the owner) checked the tables if everything was going well. We didn't stay until the live music, I think it was gonna start at 10 or so pm. Our server said the restaurant gets more crowded during the live music. Dang! Every time I go to this place, never disappoints!!! Food is delicious! Costumer service amazing! Servers always kind and worried about our experience there. Food is amazing! And Big portions! Price ok, worthy! I like the quiet environment and clean place. People who likes music while eating, they have performances of Belly Dancers I believe Fridays and Saturdays. Owner (I guess) very kind and come to the tables to welcome you! We had the Lentil Soup, sooo good! The Jalapeño's Hummus really good too.. and we ordered the Mijana Mix grilled for 2. Let me tell you something. I will NOT leave reviews for someone. Last time I left one was because they said I'd get $5 off my nail service lmao. But this place is AMAZING if you want to get out and have a little salsa dancing, or a romantic night with your date or by yourself. The vibe is soo fun for a single girl or if you're on a date. Who cares if you don't know how to dance. You'll learn. It's just a different vibe from society nowadays. The owners are AMAZING and so welcoming and catering. And the food is to die for. Five of us came here for an early dinner, and split a few of the dishes. Everything was absolutely fantastic, the Lebanese trio was great to start with (their pita bread is so light and fluffy it's like eating a slightly yeasted cloud) and the Mijana Mezza combination afterwards showed off a number of their small hot dishes. Then came out Greek pizza (just be careful because the olives aren't pitted!) and our Magnum Mijana Mixed Grill for 2. All of that was MORE than enough food for five people to share with plenty left over for lunch the next day, but we had to end with dessert, so we got some Turkish coffee and a dish whose name I can't remember- flaky philo strips over cheese with ground pistachios and a light syrup- it was pure heaven. The service was fantastic- we never went for more than a few minutes without our water being filled or an attentive person coming by just to check on us. Incredible in oh so many ways... we've never had the exceptional experience of enjoying an evening of uniquely multicultural variation as one can encounter as at Mijana. For my Wife's birthday, she selected Mijana to have her bash - and boy was it! We began our evening with an accommodating (as usual) setting and service of Lebanese Culture, Entertainment, Foods, Belly Dancing, and fun wrapping up into the late-night boisterous thumping and gyrations action of Salsa Lessons and Dancing. Never had we experienced the combining of these two energetic and disparate worlds colliding so well. Our large party enjoyed from many of the menu's huge selections. The menu can be overwhelming if not familiar with Lebanese cuisine - lots to choose from. But my fave was the perfectly prepared Quail Dinner - broiled and seasoned to perfection. It was presented with the traditional sides with their incredible rice. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her delectable rendition of chicken in her Kebab Mixed Dinner! If you're a Martini lover, go for their exquisite Fig Martini. Congrats to Owner Menassa Abinader for creating this cohesion of ethnic foodways and entertainment, making Mijana one of the most unique and satisfying experiences possible. You gotta try it. We wanted to eat close to our across the street hotel and we like Mediterranean food so we gave this place a shot. I'm quite glad we did! The food is excellent, quick service, good assistance in ordering, nice surroundings. The waiter suggested we order the mixed kabob plate for 2. It had chicken, beef and kofta kabobs, rice, delicious salad, pickles. It was accompanied by their fresh, hot pita bread and the zaatar sauce. We also ordered a side of hummus. The food was accompanied by a cucumber sauce and a garlic sauce. The food was delicious and very flavorful. We liked it so well, that we returned two days later for another round. What a mess. Used tortillas for shwarma wrap because they were out of wraps! Dirty silverwear. Waiter dropped plates near us then another broke a glass and hit one of us with the glass. Came here for some good eats. The interior of the restaurant is massive. Ida beautiful and seems to be the life of the party normally, pre covid. The staff were friendly and allowed open seating. Precautions were being followed which was comforting to witness. I love gyros and I was craving one and of course fries and baba ghanouj. The appetizer was good and very fresh. I'd recommend it for eggplant lovers for sure. The gyro was good and tasty. I asked if it had cucumber and I was told no. It turns out that they're in the sauce and I was surprised by this and picked some out. There was also very little meat in the gyro. It was good yet more meat would have made it perfect. The fries I approve of very much. They're fresh and cooked well and just my style, potatoey and not crunchy. I'd go back again and try something different. read more

Went to Mijana on Friday night. Having lived in the Middle East many years, I was impressed with the authenticity of the food and preparation. The service was super friendly and efficient. There was a belly dancing show with a great performer who had most of the restaurant up and dancing at some point in the show. Loved the food, service and show. The only downside was the severe wobble on our dining table. It caused me to hold my food on the table leg all night long. read more

Menassa is the owner and it is a veteran owned business. I support veterans as much as I can....Cathy was so incredible, I loved her personality. She was there to give us attention, service, and suggestions, I will go back to see her. What a delight,to watch Cathy's excitement to tell us about the establishment, the music, the belly dancing and even sometimes lessons. Entertainment is only on the weekends. One of our favorite cuisines has always been Mediterranean food...having spent some time in the Med over the years we've had many great meals and have had many great nuances from country to country and region to region. One of our absolute favorite finds is right here in Tempe @Mijana. Why then if it's a great find is it only a 3 star? We can get to that so read on..... Ambiance: Understandably most great regional food and ethnic food establishments aren't in your high rent districts for a reason - they are not meant to gouge or market the crap out of their home country food - it's rather a passion for making it and seeing people enjoy it. So - because this is in a more run down strip mall next to hookamania the ambiance isn't quite on point as some others. Inside is a bit dark and sometimes whene we've come here a few things have been falling apart (tables / chairs, etc...) Service: Again over the years we have been coming to Mijana we've noticed a downward trend in service...I know it's family run and not all family probably really wants to be there at all times helping out or whatever but it definitely detracts when your service is slow (and your one of only 2 or 3 couples in the restaurant) and the friendliness is well let's just say absent. Food: The food however (referencing the above statement on passion about food) is Amazing! Simple dishes yet done to perfection. Meats, rices, bread (oh the bread with zaatar is the beat), chicken, Kafta - you name it - it's spot on and has the most delicious flavor! There is nothing / not even the basic Greek salad that isn't done to perfection here...I stuff myself every time because it's that good!!! Overall: Price is a bit higher but for small family run places serving ethnic cuisine they have to be a bit higher to compete and stay afloat so this is not a detraction at all because the food is worth it - but the ambiance and service could definitely improve to really get this to a 5 star! We got the mixed grill for one and the sandwich platter with salad. The sandwich combo seemed like it was more bang for you buck, same amount of food of the other platter for half of the price. Mijana has absolutely awful service. The worst part was when I asked the waiter for the hummus for the Yelp check-in. I asked multiple times if he knew what I was talking about, and he confirmed. He brought us hummus with chicken, and then charged us for it. Later, I asked about this, and of course, he didn't know what he was doing, so he brought the owner over. The owner said, "that doesn't include the hummus with chicken." I DIDN'T ASK FOR THE HUMMUS WITH THE CHICKEN. HE BROUGHT ME THAT ON HIS OWN. We got charged $17 for a plate of hummus and a few pieces of chicken, which I really resent. The owner didn't even care to resolve this and he just walked away. What an awful businessperson and human. I would not recommend anyone give him and this establishment any more money. In addition, when we got there, we sat outside, and the waiter didn't even come over to acknowledge us and take our orders, so we moved inside. Even after we moved inside, the waiter was extremely awkward and slow. It took forever to get even water, and he disappeared for long periods of time. I had to ask another waitress for our bill, because he was nowhere to be found. Entire experience here was ridiculous and the worst service we've experienced recently. Also, the food is good (I got a gyro plate and husband got the mix plate for 1), but it's literally double the price of It's All Greek To Me for the same portion. We should've just gone there for the absolute same quality and amount of food. This place is a ripoff. Only winning point was the tajin and bread they bring out in the beginning. read more

I'm literally sitting here with a party of 12 with no drink and no silverware while everyone eats around me. They were "out" of a large portion of their menu, the bartender isn't working on a Friday night, I sat for 45 minutes before I had my first drink. Then, as soon as the appetizers came they made our entire party move to the freaking corner where employees are in and out - this place is empty. Not sure what to make of this place. They are super lax on service. Some random dude popped out of nowhere & started making small talk with us on the outside fence of the restaurant patio wearing street clothes. We quickly realized that he was our server as he went on his business to take our order. He later did a Clark Kent & changed into his work attire, but sadly, even Superman steared clear of this place. Another server that served us was chatting on his phone while asking if everything was ok with our meal...I think if I said mishkahawkawananibooboo, he would've just nodded and called it good! Food was decent. Our Mijana mixed grill was super healthy but also really dry, esp the chicken and beef. The lamb was tasty. Our server was supposed to charge us extra for extra chicken, but ended up charging us $15 for extra beef. A conveniently honest mistake, i'm sure, which increased our bill to just the right amount for that extra few bucks in tip! On the bright side, we did get a free hummus subbed with veggies instead of pita for our Yelp check-in! Some of the best middle eastern food we've ever eaten! My husband and I were in AZ for our 20th wedding anniversary, and seeing we served Lebanese food at our wedding in Michigan, it seemed fitting that we eat it in celebration. We shared the shawarma platter for two, with a side of tabbouli, and it hit all the perfect flavor notes we were craving. The toum (garlic cream) was perfection, the pita pockets were delicious, the seasoning on both meats was on point, the tabbouli was fresh and flavorful, and I could go on! It was crowded when we arrived this Friday eve. On Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, there is live belly dancing. It took some time for us to figure out what we wanted. While we perused the menu, our beverages came along with warm pita bread and a nice mixture of olive oil with sesame seeds and some herbs. We finally decided on Kabob Chicken with rice and salad and a Chicken Shawarma sandwich with fries. We munched on the warm pits bread and dip while we waited. This place is vast and great for large parties of people. There were 5 TV monitors with sports playing, a large bar and a huge room with many tables. Our food arrived hot and looking tasty. The Shawarma was very good as was the kabobs. The salad was fresh and rice aplenty. We didn't stay for the entertainment but other patrons were arriving for the free show. Wonderful find in my quick trip to Phoenix. We stopped in for lunch and shared a beef shawarma. To my surprise we were offered fresh pitas with a dipping sauce. Service with a smile, and very attentive. They offer belly dancing on Friday nights and Saturday is Arabic night. Singing and dancing until 1am. The shawarma was cooked perfectly, with a fresh salad on the side. I wish we could have ordered more but we are on our way to an early afternoon party. read more
