Beer Good, Food... eh not so good…read more We visited Olde Mecklenburg Brewery looking forward to great beer and a good meal. The beer definitely lived up to expectations, everything we tried was enjoyable. One small suggestion: the experience would be even better if the beer glasses were chilled or frosted. Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. We ordered the BBQ special, which was advertised as in-house smoked brisket. The brisket was incredibly dry... to the point that it tasted like leather. The slices were dried out, tough, and honestly looked like they had been sitting for far too long. It was so bad that both of us sent our meals back. The manager did make things right by removing some of the food items from our bill, and I appreciate that effort. However, it's disappointing that the kitchen, and ultimately management, allowed brisket in that condition to be plated and served in the first place. It was obvious from looking at it that the meat was dried out and should never have left the kitchen. I'd come back for the beer, but after this experience, I don't see myself returning for the food. If I visit again, it'll likely be for drinks only.

Good customer service depending which bartenders' attitude you like. You may like the sassy ones or you may like the easy going. I never really had a problem with any to them. I respect them for all that they do and they provide good service. My usual go to there are the different type of wings, their steak quesadillas, fried onion rings and fried mushrooms. But yesterday I wanted something different even though I'm never been a fan of pizzas. I opted to get a small supreme. It came out piping hot. Thin and crispy crust which I truly enjoyed. Not much peppers on it. But I won't complain too much. Now if I were to get pizza again. This will be the place. Big screen TV with all the NFL games on. Good pizzas, nicely priced beer. I'm not sure if I can ask for anything better. Live music which they can get pretty crowded on a Saturday night. Come check them out

My wife and I made reservations for Crossroads Sports Bar & Grill, but we realized pretty quickly…read morethat it wasn't necessary -- the vibe is much more casual and walk‑right‑in than "book ahead." The place leans heavily into a dive‑bar feel, and it's very clear this is a locals' hangout. Despite the "Grill" in the name, it definitely reads more bar than restaurant. That said, the manager (owner?) was extremely friendly and welcoming, which set a nice tone for the visit. We split a pepperoni pizza, and it was genuinely very good. I can comfortably recommend. Just be aware of the setup: you order and pay for food at a counter, and if you want an alcoholic drink, you have to go to the bar and pay separately. Not a dealbreaker, but a little clunky. The beer selection was decent, though nothing that really stood out. There's indoor seating, outdoor seating, and bar seating, so you've got options depending on the mood. Overall, Crossroads has its charms, especially if you're into a strong neighborhood‑bar atmosphere, but it's not quite a destination spot for dinner night out.

With 30 rotating taps, and a wide selection of cans and bottles from around North Carolina, the U.S. and the world, it's a like suburban heaven for Hop Heads. The cavernous space has dozens of tables and hightops on two levels, in addition to a spacious covered patio. And if beer's not your thing, you'll find a diverse selection of wines by the glass and the bottle. Food trucks rotate on a daily basis, and there are special events and programs every few nights (check their website for an updated schedule of both). And if you're a fan of the Canes or Hornets, this is THE spot to be on game night -- there are TVs on every wall, and the bartenders will usually turn up the sound. Service at the bar was friendly and efficient every time I've visited, and parking is available in either the adjacent lot or on any of the surrounding streets. And because the Beer Temple is under the same roof as Matthews' Ames Street Marketplace, you can also visit local vendors serving everything from cocktails and mocktails to ice cream and gummies. The Carolina Beer Temple is absolutely one of the best spots in South Meck to meet friends for a few delicious craft brews -- the new location is a major upgrade from the original, and well worth a drive from anywhere in the Charlotte area.

Unfortunately, after several visits, the service and consistency have continued to be disappointing. The biggest issue is the customer service. At times, it feels like some of the bartenders are more interested in socializing with certain patrons than paying attention to everyone at the bar. Getting a refill or placing an additional order can be unnecessarily difficult. In my experience, Carly has been the most frustrating in this regard. Brandy often seems distracted and disconnected from what is happening around her, while Sara can come across as uninterested in engaging with customers. You may place an order, receive your beer, and then barely be acknowledged afterward. The food is also inconsistent, especially the pizza. We have ordered it multiple times and rarely know what to expect. One visit it may be overly greasy, another time overcooked or burnt. Consistency should be one of the basics of running a restaurant. I also believe personal political opinions should be kept separate from the workplace. Customers come in to relax, have something to eat or drink, and enjoy themselves--not to feel like they are being pulled into an employee's political views, regardless of which side those views fall on. What makes this especially disappointing is that the place itself has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is appealing, and with stronger management, more consistent food preparation, and employees who genuinely make every customer feel welcome and valued, this could be a great establishment. I hope the owner takes constructive criticism seriously and focuses on hiring, training, and retaining staff who understand that hospitality is about making every paying customer feel acknowledged and appreciated. Unfortunately, we have experienced similar issues at the other location nearby as well. There is a lot to like about the concept, but the service needs significant improvement.
