After my wife chose to visit the area for her birthday weekend, she continued doing some research and found Southern Range. We decided to check it out before heading to our hotel. We arrived about 7:30pm on a Friday evening. Parking was easy in a nearby lot and we could hear what sounded like live music as we walked toward the building. Sure enough, lucky for us, a live duo was playing on a small stage in front of the outdoor seating. "Sweet Talkin' Johnny" began singing songs from Tom Petty and we knew we wanted to sit and listen for a while. The interior is decorated with fun pictures throughout, which we loved. The portrait of Kramer from Seinfeld was perfect. My wife also reported the women's room has the famous picture of a naked Burt Reynolds from the Cosmopolitan magazine circa 1972. The men's room has the vintage classic poster of Farrah Fawcett and artwork of a dude on a toilet. We did not ask much about their variety of beers after finding the "Big Ass Umbrella" IPA, but we believe they have 16 taps, which, we think include both a variety of their own beers as well as other hard beverages such as seltzers and ciders. They also have a cooler full of assorted 4/6 packs which can be purchased. Tonight we were fortunate enough they had a food truck/trailer serving Nashville Hot Chicken in addition to the live music. Southern Range is a nice little brewery right in downtown Monroe. Every time I have been here it has been pretty busy but I have no idea if that is normal or not but I hope it is usually the case because they deserve to do well. I have had great service here and each beer I have tried has been good. My favorite so far has been the I'd Fruit That Raspberry. Go down the street and grab some food from Patty and the Dogs to enjoy with your beer! read more

This place is awesome! My husband and I grabbed beers here on a Friday night. The beers are delicious, the space is cool, and the owners are the best. The place was packed, but we got great service. We loved the beer so much that we bought 3 packs of cans to go. We served them at a party at our home the next night and they went quick. Another one of those breweries that's out in the middle of nowhere (sorry Monroe) that you wish was so much closer!!! I just happened to be in the neighborhood on the way back from Wilmington. I had previously had one of their IPAs at a tap room near me - and thought "who are theses guys - this beer is really good." Out front is a fairly large patio with picnic tables and umbrellas. Wait a second, was I just misted? Oh, yeah - they have misters. Average size tap room with all current beers listed on the screens. My flight consisted of all IPAs. The menu is pretty heavy on IPAs but these guys know how to make good ones, so I can see why they stick with that formula. If you're good at something, why not do it all the time? Flights come in fours here. Mine: 1) Softer than Alize with a Chaser - awesome, light (only 20 IBUs) - session IPA 2) Bittersweet Hophony - I think it's their flagship IPA - not my favorite but solid nonetheless 3) Citratron NE style IPA - now we're talking 4) Unicorns and Lollipops NE Style IPA - this one was the Holy Grail - so damn good - so good I bought a growler and gave it to my Peeps at Birdsong Brewing to have for after shift staff drink. And... I had a full pint of Now That's What I Call Juice (Guava) - another solid NE (a bit sweeter/brighter than the others) that apparently is so popular they can't brew enough of it. So word on the street has it that they're looking at real estate for a tap room in Charlotte. Hooray! In the meantime it's totally worth the trip from Charlotte! read more

It always brings my heart joy whenever I stumble across uncharted territory and discover a new beer! Today happens to be one of those days. I'm very grateful and blessed to say that I got to visit Southern Range Brewing today in Monroe, North Carolina. The brewery is ticked away to the side of the main road, if you don't have a GPS yiu might be jebuo doing some searching, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. There is plenty alofnoarkint available for guests. I can only imagine how busy Southern Range gets on the weekends. The brewery promotes a saloon style vibe, as the inside appears like a classic Wild Wild West saloon. I really liked how easy it was to choose from the available beers, the menu is legible and attractive. Big thanks to a Justin for helping me with brew choice. Rude bartender and roaches in pint glasses.... We went a couple of times and while the atmosphere was meh, but we went back for the beer. Just went to swap out some busted merchandise I purchased as a birthday gift for my husband and the bartender was a total jerk. He was the guy who sold me the merchandise and was an rude then too. He even asked if we had a receipt for Southern Range merchandise with tags still attached. Also, hope you like roaches in your pint glasses. read more

There didn't seem to be much on tap for those who weren't a fan of the IPA or Stout style beers. I tried the Orange, and it was good--but I was looking for something a little lighter. They do have some guest taps, but I was really wanting to try Southern Range brews. They have a nice outdoor space with corn hole, and inside they have TV's a large bar and board games. This is a great addition to downtown Monroe. I'm particularly fond of them because they took a chance and brought something very new into a city that has struggled to keep any businesses open. They have an excellent selection of craft beers, including at least five that are brewed on site. If you are not a Beer Drinker they carry several selections of wines and they have some snack foods that are provided by local lunch businesses. They also bring in food trucks on Friday and Saturday and every week the selection is different. You can see what's coming if you follow their Facebook page. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a cornhole set as well as board games that you can play while you drink your beer. They have also begun having live music, which really adds to the overall atmosphere. I highly recommend you give them a try, especially if you enjoy a good craft beer selection. read more

Great beer and awesome atmosphere! Came here during a visit To my parents. It is a happening place.'live music out on patio and tons of interesting beers. The selection was vast, with a heavy selection of IPAs. I do enjoy an occasional IpA but sometimes they are just obnoxious. Good news is these were not that. The iPas we light and refreshing. Not overly hopped to hide a bad beer like some can be. Prices fair and I do like the growler DEPOSIT. Definitely will be back!!!!! read more

Great addition to Monroe! This area really needed a neat hot spot for the locals to enjoy! Family owned & operated. The husband & wife really pour passion into the establishment. Not only are the beers phenomenal but they've gotten creative with drawing people in. The owner who brews, hosts trivia on Wednesday's and it's a big hit! The place was packed & everyone that participated had a blast! They offer merchandise with the "Southern range" logo, snack foods (popcorn,chips) & of course BEER. They constantly brew new seasonal crafts & also keep the top sellers tapped all year round. Wide variety, you may have a hard time making a choice! I had the strawberry shandy & my boyfriend had the hopsequence. We enjoyed them both a lot. Southern Range offers something for everyone. They even have a nice selection of wine & other craft name brands. Information on each available beer is written on a large chalk board to help you decide! Outdoor/ indoor seating (beautiful rustic large bar), cornhole, a view of the brewing room & organized board game selection. Bathrooms were immaculate & the staff were all very friendly. Not looking at the outside of the building, it's a great brewery, I liked a lot of the flight I had and the variety of the beers . It was about 80 degrees out and still very hot inside. Monroe finally has its own brewery and it's downtown behind the post office. Great selection of beer including their own great brews. I love the blood orange wheat!!! Kinda like a Blue Moon but better. They have a food truck Friday and sometimes on Saturday ( they keep their FB page up to date so follow there!). They have outdoor and indoor seating and several TVs. They will fill your growler form more great brew to take home. It's a nice place to end a bike ride! read more
